Professor Remus John Lupin (10 March, 1960 – 2 May, 1998) also nicknamed Moony was a half-blood wizard and later a werewolf. Lupin attendedHogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry where he was sorted into Gryffindor. During his time at school he was one of the Marauders and also best friends with James Potter, Petter Pettigrew and Sirius Black. He was member of the Order of the Phoenix and taught Harry Potter Defence Against the Dark Arts during the 1993-1994 school year. In 1997 he married Auror Nymphadora Tonks and had a son together named Teddy Lupin. Remus fought at the Battle of Hogwarts, during which his wife was killed by Bellatrix Lestrange. Remus was also killed by Antonin Dolohov, during the same battle. Remus briefly appears again through the Resurrection Stone for Harry, along with James, Lily, and Sirius in late 1998.
Remus Lupin was bitten by a werewolf called Fenrir Greyback when he was a boy. Despite the prejudice the wizarding world has against werewolves Albus Dumbledore allowed him to attend Hogwarts, where he was Sorted into Gryffindor. Remus became friends with James Potter, Sirius Black and Peter Pettigrew, who together formed a gang called the Marauders who were some of the most popular students at the school. Remus' nickname within the group was Moony.
His friends soon deduced that Remus was a werewolf and rather than abandon him they worked to become illegal Animagi. They could transform into animals in order to keep him company when he transformed. They encouraged Remus as a wolf to explore the castle rather than stay in his allotted hiding place of the Shrieking Shack. This unintentionally placed the other students in danger, but they only thought of it as fun. Sirius Black also thought of it as fun to tell co-student Severus Snape how to get past the Whomping Willow that guarded the secret passage to the Shrieking Shack when he found out that Snape had worked out Remus' secret. Snape would have been killed if James Potter hadn't discovered the 'joke' and dragged him back before he reached Lupin in his transformed state. Snape believed that Remus had been in on the joke and resented him even more afterwards.
After school Lupin became a member of the original Order of the Phoenix. When Dumbledore realised that someone close to James and his wife, Lily, was feeding information to Lord Voldemort about them and their hidden whereabouts, he put them under the protection of the Fidelius Charm. Sirius was their original Secret Keeper, but he believed that he was too obvious a candidate and that Voldemort might force their location from him. He persuaded them to make Pettigrew their Secret Keeper instead, believing Remus to be the spy. Pettigrew was the traiter and after Voldemort had killed the Potters and was in turn supposedly destroyed, he framed Sirius and faked his own death. Lupin did not know that Sirius hadn't been the Secret Keeper at the time of the Potters' death, so mistakenly believed Sirius to have been guilty.
In the third book, Remus Lupin teaches Defense Against the Dark Arts at Hogwarts. He is first seen sleeping in a compartment on the Hogwarts express. Harry Potter, Ron Weasley, and Hermione Granger sit in the compartment with him. When the dementors attack, Lupin wakes up and casts a patronus. Then he gives them all chocolate to return them to happiness.
He later joined up with the Order again and joined the Advance Guard. He later helped escort Harry Potter to 12 Grimmauld Place so Harry could arrive safely. He then participated in The Battle of the Department of Mysteries and fought alongside other order members and Dumbledore's Army against the death eaters. He is seen to be a skilled duelist and successfully fights off the death eaters before Lord Voldemort arrives.
Remus returns to Hogwarts to partipate in The Battle of the Astronomy Tower. He narrowly avoided a killing curse from Thorfinn Rowle and soon learned of Albus Dumbledore's death, which he is shocked by. He survived the battle and finally accepted the love of Nymphadora Tonks. He attends Dumbledore's funeral with her and the pair soon get married.
Remus visited Harry, Ron, and Hermione while they made camp in Grimmauld Place and offered to help with their search for Voldemort's Horcruxes. However, Harry ran him off, telling him he was a coward for even considering leaving his wife alone while pregnant. Remus left greatly angered. He fights in the battle of Hogwarts and is killed by Dolohov, and apperes breefly out of the resorection stone.

Remus Lupin is played by David Thewlis.
Lupin is discribed as shabby with scars his face.
Remus was very intelligent, calm, tolerant, gentle, and good-natured. Despite having suffered a great deal of discrimination and prejudice in his life due to his lycanthropy. Remus managed to retain an ability to see the good in almost everybody and was extremely forgiving. He also had an excellent sense of humour and, when he was a student at school, was one of the Marauders. However, unlike his friends, he never partook in bullying, being personally against such behaviour, and hence could be described as the most mature one of the group. He even became a Prefect in his fifth year. Also, unlike his friends, he was able to, or at least would try to maintain civil conversation with those he did not get along well with, a notable example being Snape.
Though he was sorted into Gryffindor and displayed great bravery on numerous occassions, Remus once claimed that he was cowardly, because he was unable to bring himself to tell Dumbledore that James, Sirius, and Peter were Animagi, as it would have meant that he had betrayed the Headmaster's trust, which was everything to him. He also said he did not have the guts to tell James and Sirius to stop bullying Snape. Harry once called him a coward because he regretted conceiving a child with Tonks, the woman who loved him despite his werewolf condition. Nevertheless, when it came to defending his friends and loved ones, Remus was selfless and courageous, showing that he had the heart of a Gryffindor. He leaped between Harry and a Death Eater during the battle of the Department of Mysteries to protect the boy. Remus was also enraged when he learnt the truth about Peter betraying James and Lily to Voldemort, and was actually prepared to kill him for it, showing that he valued loyalty.
Magical accomplishments and skills
Defense Against the Dark Arts Master: In 1993, Remus took the position of Defence Against the Dark Arts Professor at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, and was considered to be the best in this position by many of his students. It has been inferred that his particular specialty in Defence is, ironically enough, against Dark Creatures. However, this is based on what he taught the third year students and may not reflect the full range of his knowledge and expertise. He also taught Harry Potter the highly advanced Patronus Charm, which Remus himself must have mastered at a relatively young age, at least when he joined the first Order of the Phoenix. It is not stated what form his own Patronus takes.
Nonverbal and Wandless Magic Expert: While on the Hogwarts Express in 1993, Remus conjured fire, (possibly Bluebell Flames) without using a wand and nonverbally. He could also open locks and chests and relight candles with just the wave of his hand. When Remus and Harry had a heated argument in 1997, Remus struck him with a silent spell so quickly that Harry barely had time to reach for his own wand. Both wandless and non-verbal magic are very difficult, indicating Remus' magical power and skill.
Master Duelist: Remus was a highly talented duellist. During the Battle of the Department of Mysteries, he was the only fighter besides Albus Dumbledore and his pupil Harry who was not wounded, killed, or incapacitated. He also came out of the Battle of the Astronomy Tower and the Battle over Little Whinging unscathed, even though he had to support an injured George Weasley while fighting and flying during the latter conflict. Sadly, Remus was killed in a duel during the Battle of Hogwarts with Antonin Dolohov, a highly skilled and dangerous Death Eater, who had previously defeated very talented wizards such as Alastor Moody and the Prewett brothers.
Charms Expert: Remus appears to have been very talented with Charms from a young age, since he, James Potter, Sirius Black, and Peter Pettigrew managed to create the magically complex Marauders' Map as teenagers. Flying Skills: Remus was a good flyer as seen when he escorted Harry with the rest of the Advance Guard from the Dursley's house. He was a skilled enough flier to be able to evade and duel Death Eaters while supporting an injured George Weasley during the Battle over Little Whinging.
If important, maybe a paragraph here.
The extent of Remus' relationship with his family is unknown. During Remus' youth, his father offended Fenrir Greyback, causing Greyback to attack Remus. Mr. and Mrs. Lupin are known to have been concerned over Remus being a werewolf, believing that this condition meant their son would be unable to attend Hogwarts. However, this was proven untrue. It is possible that his parents were deceased before the events of the Second Wizarding War.
