Located in Surrey, a quiet, perfectly normal suburb of London, where the houses are large and square, and where you'll find the perfectly normal residence of number four, Privet Drive.

Number four, Privet Drive in Little Whinging, Surrey, is the home of Vernon and Petunia Dursley and Harry's childhood home.

Public Magical Locations

Magical locations are often designed to be hidden from the Muggle population. Places like Diagon Alley and the Ministry of Magic are large areas where the entrance is hidden. Hogsmeade on the other hand is an all-wizard village settlement, which is rare.

Private Wizarding Homes

The Burrow

The Burrow is the home of the Weasley family and located in the outskirts of Ottery St. Catchpole in Devon, England. Held up with Magic, this is a thorough Magic dwelling and following the death of Albus Percival Wulfric Brian Dumbledore in 1997, became the headquaters of The Order of the Phoenix. Also used as the location of Bill and Fleurs wedding and the 17th birthday of Harry Potter.

Shell Cottage

Shell Cottage is the home of Bill Weasley and Fleur Delacour after their marriage on 1 August 1997. Used as a safehouse for various allies and members of the Order of the Phoenix. Used as a place of refuge for Harry, Ron and Hermione in 1998 when planning to break in to Bellatrix Le Strange's vault at Gringotts bank, and the last place of resting for Dobby the House Elf.

Lovegood Family's Home

The Lovegood's house is located in the outskirts of Ottery St. Catchpole in Devon, near the Burrow.

Number 12, Grimmauld Place

Number 12, Grimmauld Place, London, was the home of the Black family and was the property of Sirius Black until his death. It then passed to his godson Harry Potter. It was initially used as the headquarters of the Order of the Phoenix.

Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry

Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry is an ancient magical school in Britain. Hogwarts is located in Scotland, near the magical village of Hogsmeade and the grounds are edged by The Forbidden Forest. Hogwarts was founded over one thousand years ago by the four greatest witches and wizards of the era: Godric Gyffindor, Helga Hufflepuff, Rowena Ravenclaw and Salazar Slytherin. Along with building and starting the school the founders were the original creators of the Hogwarts houses, which are named after them.

At Hogwarts, the staircases routinely change direction, the doors sometimes disappear, change positions or need to be tickled just right to open. Some doors refuse to open while other are just walls pretending to be doors. Ghosts float around freely while the people in portrays run through frames as to socialize with each other. The ceiling within the Great Hall mirrors the outside sky while the Room of Requirement grants the wish of anyone who can find it.

Hogwarts, not only the most magically filled places but also the most secret filled places. Historical secrets, secret pasts, school yard secrets, secret passages ways, secret chambers, secret identities and secret objects have all found a home within Hogwarts walls. Even Hogwart itself is a secret as any Muggles who see it only see a condemn set of historical ruins that they inexplicably don't want to investigate and actually want to walk away from and forget all about.
