Muriel was the elderly aunt of Molly Weasley. She is known to be quite of a gossip and very abusive and judging of her great nieces and nephews, The Weasley children.
Muriel Prewett was born a witch in the early 1880's into a pure-blood family. Her mother was quite good friends with author, Bathilda Bagshot and Muriel often overheard many of their conversations. One secret she learned was that the two Dumbledore brothers had a quarral at the funeral of their mother, Kendra.
 Deathly Hallows
In 1997, The Order of The Phoenix used her home as a safe house which Ron Weasley and Nymphadora Tonks could use during The Battle Over Little Whinging. Unfortunately due to an altercation with some death eaters they missed the portkey at Muriel's home, though eventually made it to the Burrow safely. She was later invited to the wedding of Bill Weasley and Fleur Delacour in which she lent her goblin made tiara to Fleur for the ceremony. At the wedding she seemed to be rather umpleasant as she drank a large amount of champagne and belittled the other wedding guests.
Muriel: "…and your hair's much too long, Ronald, for a moment I thought you were Ginevra. Merlin's beard, what is Xenophilius Lovegood wearing? He looks like an omelette… Isn't Harry Potter here? I was hoping to meet him. I thought he was a friend of yours, Ronald, or have you merely been boasting?" Ron: "No – he couldn't come –" Muriel: "Hmm. Made an excuse, did he? Not as gormless as he looks in press photographs, then."
Later on in the wedding while Harry Potter (disguised as 'Barny Weasley') and Elphias Doge, a friend of Albus Dumbledore were having a conversation about the late headmaster, she interrupted them and claimed several negative things about him which she read in Rita Skeeter's new book, The Life and Lies of Albus Dumbledore. The wedding was later interrupted by death eaters and Muriel fled back to her home. By early 1998, she allowed several members of the Weasley family to take refuge in their home as they were being hunted by the death eaters. Her home was also used by Fred Weasley and George Weasley to sell products from their shop as they were unable to return to Diagon Alley. She finally had her tiara returned to her after Ollivander came to stay with her and gave back the tiara he had given to him by Fleur as he was recovering in Shell Cottage.
