Lucius Malfoy is a pureblood wizard, the husband of Narcissa Malfoy, and the father of Draco Malfoy. A descendant from a long line of influential purebloods, he is one of the wealthiest people in wizarding Britain.

Lucius is only mentioned in the first book.
 Second book
Lucius is visiting Borgin and Burke's with Draco to sell some of the items he would rather not have the Ministry find in his home, not knowing that he is overheard by Harry. Later he runs into Harry and the Weasleys in Flourish and Blott's, where he gets into a fight with Arthur Weasley.
 Third book
His son Draco is attacked by the hippogriff Buckbeak during Hagrid's first lesson as a Care of Magical Creatures Professor, and although Lucius is not able to get Hagrid fired, he is initially successful in having the hippogriff sentenced to death. At the very day of the execution, though, the beast seemingly mysteriously disappears.

Lucius is present at the graveyard on the night of Voldemort's resurrection.
