Hannah Abbott is a Hufflepuff in the same year as Harry Potter at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. She was a member of Dumbledore's Army and fought in the Battle of Hogwarts.

Hannah Abbott is the first student to be Sorted, ending up in Hufflepuff House.[1]

Hannah, along with Ernie Macmillan and a few other Hufflepuffs are overheard by Harry discussing whether or not he really is the Heir of Slytherin. Hannah does not seem to concur with popular belief, instead basing her opinion of Harry on how she has seen him, believing him to be nice. However, she does not seem confident in expressing her opinions whilst Ernie is explaining the supposed evidence against Harry.[2] After Hermione is attacked and Ernie apologises to Harry about his suspicions, Hannah joins him when he works with Harry and Ron in Herbology.[3]

Hannah Abbott is made a Hufflepuff prefect along with Ernie Macmillan.[4] Later in the year she attends the meeting at the Hog's Head to discuss forming a Defense Against the Dark Arts group. Hannah is impressed when she hears about everything Harry has done, and her eyes are "as round as Galleons". [5] Hannah attends DA meetings all year and is among the DA members who attack Draco Malfoy, Vincent Crabbe, and Gregory Goyle on the Hogwarts Express to prevent them from ambushing Harry Potter.[6]

Hannah Abbott fights in the Battle of Hogwarts. She stands watch next to a plinth (which had lost its statue) guarding a secret passageway, along with Fred Weasley and Lee Jordan among others.[7] At one point Harry casts a Shield Charm whilst wearing the Invisibility Cloak to save her from a curse sent by Lord Voldemort.[8]
