[edit] 1991/1992

The Gryffindor Team was short of a Seeker. Try-outs were to be held in the second week of term[1], however when the head of Gryffindor House, Minerva McGonagall spotted first-year Harry Potter flying spectacularly well in his first ever flying lesson, she brought him to the team captain Oliver Wood. Chasers Alicia Spinnet and Katie Bell were also new that year, though Alicia had been in reserve the year before.[2]

Their first game of the season was complicated by an attempt on their new Seeker's life by Defence Against the Dark Arts professor, Quirinus Quirrell, however despite this Harry still managed to catch the Snitch albeit with his mouth. The second game was refereed not by Madam Hooch as was usual, but by head of Slytherin House, Severus Snape who was biased in Hufflepuff's favour. During the final match Harry Potter was unconscious following an encounter with Lord Voldemort and without a reserve Seeker the team was a vital player short.

[edit] 1992/1993

In the first match of the season the Gryffindor faced a Slytherin team using superior broomsticks, the Nimbus 2001. These were given to the team by Lucius Malfoy whose son Draco was the new Seeker. During the match a rogue Bludger was used in the game which tried to attack Harry Potter thanks to Dobby the house elf's attempts to send Harry 'safely' home. Harry was able to catch the Snitch despite this with only a broken arm. Unfortunately when Gilderoy Lockhart tried to fix this he removed all the bones in Harry's arm.[5] The second game was cancelled thanks to a series of attacks after the Chamber of Secrets was opened.

[edit] 1993/1994

The first match Gryffindor vs Slytherin was rescheduled as Malfoy was injured, instead they played Hufflepuff. During the game, the pitch was invaded by Dementors, which affected Seeker Harry Potter, who fainted and fell off his broom. Hufflepuff Seeker Cedric Diggory caught the Snitch instead.[7] Harry's broom was destroyed, however Sirius Black anonymously sent him a better one. During the final match Slytherins Draco Malfoy, Vincent Crabbe, Gregory Goyle and Marcus Flint attempt to fool Harry into believing the Dementors have done the same again, not knowing that Harry could now cast a Patronus Charm, which he did.

[edit] 1995/1996

Oliver Wood had left school in 1994, and Chaser Angelina Johnson took over as captain. Ron Weasley joined the team replacing him as Keeper. During the first match the Slytherin supporters made up a song attacking Ron. After the match, which Gryffindor won, Slytherin Seeker Draco Malfoy managed to antagonise Harry, Fred and George to the point where they tried to attack him. For the rest of the season the Gryffindor team was largely using substitutes thanks to Professor Dolores Umbridge banning the Beaters and Seeker.[10]

During the second match against Hufflepuff. The replacement Beaters played badly, one hitting his captain in the mouth, the other falling off of his broom when Chaser Zacharias Smith flew towards him with the Quaffle. The Gryffindor substitute Seeker, Ginny Weasley, was able to catch the Snitch. Hufflepuff still managed to win the game by a margin of ten points, however.[11]

[edit] 1996/1997

Harry Potter replaced Angelina Johnson as captain after she left. In the first match new Slytherin Chaser Vaisey was hit in the head by a Bludger the day before their first match and couldn't play. Also Draco Malfoy skipped the match and paid Harper to replace him, in order to concentrate on fixing a Vanishing Cabinet for Voldemort.[13] During their second match against Hufflepuff, the Gryffindor team was hindered by the loss of their Keeper, Ron Weasley after he was poisoned by Malfoy by accident. Their substitute, Cormac McLaggen, managed to knock out Harry with a Beaters' bat. Hufflepuff unsurprisingly went on to win the match. In the final match Ron had recovered, but Harry had a detention given to him by Snape on the day of the game, so he replaced himself with Ginny and Ginny with Dean Thomas.[14]
