Fleur Isabelle Delacour, born c. 1977, is a french, quarter veela witch. She is the daughter of Monsieur Delacour and Apolline Delacour, and the older sister of Gabrielle Delacour. She attended Beauxbatons Academy of Magic, and went on to be a champion in The Triwizard Tournament in 1994-1995. She later took a job at Gringotts in order to improve her english, and there she met Bill Weasley, whom she started dating. The couple went on to become engaged, and were married 1st August 1997 at The Burrow. Bill and Fleur took up residence in a seaside cottage near Tinworth called Shell Cottage and eventually had three children, Victoire, Dominique and Louis.

[edit] Character development

Fleur first appears in the fourth book, where she is initially noticed for her beauty, and captures the attention of many male students, including Ron Weasley. However Fleur is portrayed as being a rather vain creature who cares most about her appearance. Although, when she fails to collect her sister Gabrielle in the Second Task of the Triwizard Tournament she is thoroughly upset and near desperation. And when Harry ventures into the Black Lake and rescues Gabrielle in her stead she shows sincere thanks towards him and continues to remember this act of bravery throughout the series, showing that she cares immensely about her friends and family, not just herself. Also, when Bill is attacked by Fenrir Greyback, she says:

"You thought that I would not weesh to marry him? Or per'aps you hoped? What do I care how he looks? I am good-looking enough for both of us, I theenk! All these scars show is zat my husband is brave!"
—Fleur Delacour[[Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince|[src]]]

Hereby she shows that her love for Bill is true and not just a fling as Molly Weasley suspected. In this moment we see that Fleur is more than just a pretty face and is capable of real love and strength.

She goes on to show her care for Bill, and for Harry, when agreeing to stand in as one of Harry's doppelgängers under the Battle of the Seven Potters, knowing that she will be in danger of being killed.
