Dedalus Diggle is a member of the Order of the Phoenix, first met in the first chapter of the Philosopher's Stone. He is accused of sending up shooting stars in Kent by Professor McGonagall. He is often referred to as not having much sense, but is very energetic. He often wears a top hat.

He is one of the many people who volunteer to bring Harry from the Dursley's to No. 12 Grimmauld Place. He drops his top hat and is noted as being excitable.

He appears when he brings the Dursley's to safety with Hestia Jones. He has a pocket watch that can talk, which tells them to hurry up because they are on a tight schedule.
“You know how to drive, I take it?” [Dedalus] asked Uncle Vernon politely. “Know how to - ? Of course I ruddy well know how to drive!” spluttered Uncle Vernon. “Very clever of you sir, very clever, I personally would be utterly bamboozled by all those buttons and knobs,” said Dedalus. He was clearly under the impression that he was flattering Vernon Dursley, who was visibly losing confidence in the plan with every word Dedalus spoke."
He also looks on awkwardly when the Dursleys and Harry exchange unemotional good-byes.
