Bertie Bott's Every Flavour Beans are a popular confectionary in the Wizarding world, invented by the wizard Bertie Bott, hence their name. The sweets come in every flavour you can imagine, ranging from typical flavours such as chocolate, peppermint and fruit flavours, to the more unusual and often revolting tastes. These unusual flavours often come as a great surprise to those who eat them, which is part of the fun. This has put some people off the sweets, such is the case of Professor Albus Dumbledore, who confided to Harry when he was in the hospital wing in his First year, that he was unfortunate to have eaten a vomit flavoured bean when he was young. After deciding to give them another go, eating what he thought was a toffee flavoured bean from Harry gifts, he was dismayed to have eaten an earwax bean! Despite this, Bertie Bott's beans remain a very popular sweet among the students of Hogwarts. The Beans were first introduced in Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone, when Ron Weasley and Harry Potter shared some on their first train ride to Hogwarts. The sweets can also be bought from Honeydukes shop in the Hogsmeade village and are often given as gifts at birthdays or Christmas and are common sights at the end of beds in the Hogwarts hospital wing. The beans typically come in boxes or in bags, and there popularity has spread to the muggle world.
