Aurora Sinistra was the Professor of Astronomy at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry who taught her classes on the top most tower of the castle. She is seen to be a very strict, serious teacher, showing little emotion.

Every Wednesday night Professor Sinistra taught her class on the top most tower of Hogwarts. Her class studied the stars, planets and moons as well as different constellations and sky phenomenons. She reguarly attented feasts and Quidditch games throughout the year and was present at the sorting of Harry Potter and his fellow classmates.

During the attacks on the students while the Chamber of Secrets was opened, Professor Sinistra assisted Professor Filius Flitwick with a petrified Justin Finch-Fletchley in bringing him up to the hospital wing to be seen by Madam Pomfrey.

In the year of 1994, The Triwizard Tournament was held at Hogwarts along with the celebration of the Yule Ball. She came with Alastor Moody (Barty Crouch Jr in disguise) and had trouble dancing with him. "Mad-Eye Moody was doing an extremely ungainly two-step with Professor Sinistra, who was nervously avoiding his wooden leg." [1]

For preparation for the fifth year's O.W.L.s, Professor Sinistra gave her students an extra amount of homework than usual.
