Musing over Moony

Hello again, It’s been a while. I’m back from H.K. and have a computer again! YAAY!

Anyway, onto more pressing matters…
Remus “Moony” John Lupin
Birth – 10th March 1960
Death – 2nd May 1998

Remus has always been one of my favourite characters in the series; yes I refuse to call him ‘Lupin’. He’s very loving and kind man… if a little too much of a worrier! His and Tonks’ relationship is a brilliant back-story in the books and I hope they show it in the film *secretly fumes at the news of the film delay!*

So, before I continue with this blog I would like to create a disclaimer!
Although I am one of the many who joke around about different aspects of our favourite werewolf, I don’t actually believe in this, it is.

These aforementioned aspects of Moony come into three categories;
1. Does he have an equivalent of PMS?
2. His seriously ironic name.
3. Why do so many shippers love the idea of him embracing like “brothers” with Sirius?

1. So I know this sounds strange, but out of my three musings this is probably the most likely! Not as in literal ˜PMS’ but do you think it is possible that Moony could get more moody as the month passes? We can take into account that he becomes more tired after the full moon, or is this because he’s been out all night? Could this ’ as well as a Dementor cure – be another substitute for his love for Chocolate? He does seem to have a lot around!

2. OK, this is something that has always entertained me. His name is completely dripping in IRONY!
Remus ’ One of the two brothers who were raised by wolves and Romulus (the other one) ended up founding Rome. (I’m sorry about my patch Classics, I take Latin instead!)
Lupin ’ Something I can do, “Lupus” is Latin for Wolf!
I know most of you already know this about Moony but I do find that this is incredibly ironic and needed to be stated. It’s almost as if he was destined to become a werewolf with a name like that.

3. And finally, no I am not a Wolf Star shipper but I felt like humouring you guys that are. I see where you could find this very entertaining! People have shipped them ever since; “Lupin embraced Black like a brother!”
I suppose this was a completely speculative ship, but many people did pick up on it and let the fanfiction soar. But sticking to my rule of staying canon, I have to point out that this ship was quite subtly torpedoed by dear, old Jo when she described Sirius’s bedroom in DH!
But what I’m most interested in is, why do so many shippers love them? And how can one sentence in a book lead to a massive stream of Wolf Star related fan fiction?
I suppose the main answer to both questions would be the sheer size of the Harry Potter fandom and the amazing amount of people who are completely dedicated to it.

Please post your thoughts and comments on Moony underneath and if you would like me to blog about anything in particular, my email is on my profile.

But for now,
Peace Out! *_*
