I can’t stay, but I stopped in to see how many pages there were to catch up on, and discovered a new poll instead. ;)

I went with “After The Silver Doe” because I think I would like to see it end on a somewhat upbeat note, with Ron having returned to Harry and Hermione.

I found out today that I have to go have an iodine uptake scan does. They are going to see how much iodine my thyroid is processing. I also found out that I am making thyroid antibodies. OK level is 20and under…I am at 20. Which according to World Wide Web means I probably have Hashimoto’s. I know it could be something else though…We’ll see. I posted this at the end of the last poll.

It should end just after the trio talks to Aberforth. The ending shot should be the staircase developing and Ariana approaching.

I was just getting ready to post on the new poll when the electric went out. It’s not even storming.

Got distracted again. Forgot I was writing a post. It’s just been an hour since I started this. Lol

I think that they should stop just when Ron comes back and saves Harry and then they should just show Ron’s face and end the first part there! BTW I love that DH is being split into two parts because i dont think they could fit it all into one movie and tell the story properly and since it is the last book they shoudl do both the book and Jo justice and make this the bets film in the series.

I think a good place to end film one would be at the end of the Deathly Hallows chapter, just as Harry breaks the Taboo. It would leave film one on an exciting note, whilst not ending it at a place too dark and forbidding,which would be a kindness to the younger movie-go-ers who had not read the book. ( I’m sure there must be a handful) It would also give the set builders more time to create Malfoy Manor, Shell Cottage,and Gringots deepest depths. I quite agree that to do justice to the story, it needs to be done in two parts. It was certainly the most emotional of all of the Canon and I think that the audience needs the time to assimilate it all and respond to the emotional content. For Goblet of Fire, I would have been good with them breaking it in two. I missed the whole beginning with the Dursleys and the Tounge Ton Toffee, as well as more in the Burrow.

I left the TV on the channel NBC on a program called Lipstick Jungle. I don’t usually watch this show but they are talking about a prequell to Harry Potter. Publishing rights up for grabs. I have heard JK Rowling name mention numerous times. And it hasn’t been on 10 minutes. Too bad this is just a TV show. Lol

I think when Ron leaves would be good, or when Dobby dies…

As I said before:

Preferred Break: Mid-apparition, Shell Cottage to Gringotts. I think that would give them plenty of room to tighten the first half, and the full story of the last day - almost 200 pages of fast-paced text - should make about a 2 hr 15 min movie, possibly more including the epilogue.

2nd preference: I prefer breaking at a point of suspense for a two-parter, and the next earlier point of true suspense is when the Death Eaters show up after Harry breaks the Taboo. It would shift about 20 – 25 minutes of screen time from the first movie to the second. But don’t forget that large portions of the first part of the book include the Trio stuck at Grimmauld Place, and later in the Tent, and some of these portions focus on the impact that the Locket is having on their emotions and on the team, which I would like to see compressed. Let’s see: working from memory:

Departing Little Whindig (including the Dursleys): 10 – 15 minutes including aftermath.

The runup to the wedding: Greatly compressed or eliminated.

The wedding: 10 – 15 minutes to capture the relevant plot points.

The immediate escape until Kreatcher’s Tale and the story of the Locket: 5- 10 minutes.

Plotting the run on the Ministry: Greatly compressed.

The run on the Ministry: 10 – 15 minutes.

Escape from the Ministry until the argument that leads to Ron’s departure: 5-10 minutes, tops.

So by my estimate: 40 – 65 minutes from start to Ron’s departure, clearly not enough movie.

Godric’s Hollow: 15 – 20 minutes. (Total at this point, 55 – 85 minutes)

Dumbledore and Grindlewold, The Silver Doe and destruction of the Locket Horcrux: 10 – 15 minutes (total at this point, 65 – 100 minutes)

Ron’s Return, Lovegood and the Hallows, Pottercast, and the broken Taboo: 15 – 20 minutes (total at this point: 80 – 115 minutes)

Malfoy Manor: 10 – 15 minutes (total at this point, 90 – 130 minutes)

Shell Cottage: 10 – 15 minutes (total at this point, 100 – 145 minutes, the latter being a typical HP run time).

Now, to break it there as I recommend (close shot part 1, apparate out; open shot part 2, appear outside the Cauldron)

Gringotts 10 – 15 minutes

The escape until they’re off the Dragon and Voldemort gets the news: 5 – 10 minutes

Arrival Hogsmeade and Aberforth’s tale: 10 – 15 minutes

Arrival Room of Requirements: 5 – 10 minutes

Ravenclaw Tower: 5 – 10 minutes

Mobilizing and reinforcing the Castle: 10 – 15 minutes

Weasleys, reconciled and murdered: 5 – 10 minutes

Basilisk Fang and FiendFyre: 10 – 15 minutes

Departure Castle, Arrival Shrieking Shack, The death of Snape – 10 – 15 minutes

Return to the Castle, Body Count, Ultimatim, and Snape’s Memory Lane: 10 – 15 minutes

Harry’s Decision and Voldemort’s Spell: 5 – 10 minutes

King’s Cross: 10 – 15 minutes

The flaw in the plan: 15 – 20 minutes

Aftermath and Epilogue: 15 – 20 minutes

Total: 125 – 175 minutes. Might still need to be tightened some.
