DEANIE, sorry you are not feeling well. I hope it is temporary.

I am actually a bit hopeful about the birdies after the passage of a few hours. Maybe three is the magic number for this Mama to work on her own. All three remaining chicks seem to be a bit more alert. When she comes in they are all at attention wanting food. So, maybe she is able to provide enough to keep them all wanting more. I hope I am not just imagining potential improvement.

Off to clean and cook.

MISTIC, I meant to say we have had several days of sun here now. So, you may have some sun soon. Last weekend was the first weekend in weeks it did not rain. We were very fortunate since we moved my MIL on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. That would NOT have been fun during the Tornado Warnings and Flash Flood Warnings of the previous several weekends.

Good Morning Everybody!!!!! IT’S FRIDAY!!!! IT’S FRIDAY!!!
YES MADAME MINERVA I WILL BE THERE WITH BELLS ON MY TOES AND PURPLE PIGMY PUFF’S IN MY EARS!!!!! I HAVE NOT BEEN TO CHATZY IN ALMOST A YEAR I BELIEVE, AND I AM NOT SURE I HAVE ALL OF THE INFO I NEED!!!! HELP!!!!! I ALSO GOT MY BLUE MOON HYDRANGEA PLANTS PLANTED YESTERDAY EVENING, AND WHEN I GOT ALL FINISHED AND PUT MY LITTLE 2" AND A HALF INCH LITTLE PICKETT FENSE SUROUNDING THEM, MY LITTLE DOG STANLEY TRIED VERY HARD TO EAT THE END ONE OF THREE!!! HE IS A YORKEE MINITURE POODLE MIX, HIS EARS ARE BLACK, HIS PAWS ARE BLACK AND THE REST OF HIM IS SILVER HE WEIGHS 9 POUNDS AND 5 OUNCES, HE DOES NOT EAT MY FURNITURE, OR MESS IN THE HOUSE, HE IS A YEAR OLD, AND I ADOPTED HIM FROM ASPCA OF WHICH I HAVE BEEN A MEMBER SINCE 2007 AND DONATE $20 DOLLARS A MONTH TO THEIR CAUSE, I KNOW EVERYBODY IS CONFUSED, I HAD SMOKEY, OF WHOM IS BACK WITH HIS OWNER, FOR THE FOLLOWING REASONS: HE CHEWED THE CORNERS OF MY ARMS ON MY FUTON, HE CHEWED MY KITCHEN CHAIR LEGS, HE CHEWED MY SALDALS UP, AND PULLED THE SHELF OF MY NEW TV STAND OUT AND CHEWED THE CORNER OF IT OFF ALSO, HE POOED IN MY HOUSE TWICE, AND HE WAS GRIEVING HIS PREVIOUS OWNERS, HE WAS ONLY 7 MONTHS OLD AND WAS A CORGY/BASSETHOUND, SHE TOLD ME THAT IF HE GRIEVED THEM TOO MUCH AND SEEMED TO BE NOT HAPPY TO PLEASE GIVE HIM BACK TO THEM, AND ALTHOUGH HE WAS VERY SWEET, HE CRIED ALMOST EVERY NIGHT, AND I BELIEVE WAS TAKING IT OUT ON MY FURNITURE. HE WAS VERY HAPPY TO SEE HIS PREVIOUS OWNER AGAIN, AND HAD MISSED HIS FATHER AND MOTHER OF WHICH HIS OWNER ALSO HAS, AND A RETRIEVER, AFTER TAKING HIM BACK, I HAD MY CRY, AND STARTED LOOKING AT SHELTERS ON LINE, AND FOUND STANLEY, WHO HAD BEEN TURNED INTO THE SHELTER AS A RESULT OF A DIVORCED COUPLE WHO APPARENTLY DECIDED THAT NEIRTHER ONE OF THEM WANTED HIM. I CAN NOT IMAGINE WHY, BECAUSE HE IS SO ADOREABLE AND VERY LOVING, I WENT TO THE SHELTER AND PUT IN MY ADOPTION PAPERS AND VISITED HIM AND ANOTHER DOG WHO WAS A CHIWAWHUA NAMED DALLAS, WHO WAS 3 YEARS OLD AND WAS AT THE SHELTER AS A RESULT OF AN ELDERLY WOMAN WHO COULD NOT TAKE CARE OF HIM ANYMORE. I SPENT A HALF HOUR WITH EACH DOG WHILE I WAS THERE, AND DALLAS DID NOT SEEM TO RESPOND TO ME AT ALL, I MIGHT AS WELL HAVE NOT BEEN THERE AT ALL FROM HIS POINT OF VIEW. HOWEVER WHEN SHE PUT STANLEY DOWN ON THE GROUND AND I CALLED HIS NAME HE CAME STRAIGHT TOO ME AND ALLOWED ME TO PICK HIM UP AND HOLD HIM AND RESPONDED TO ME IMMEDIATELY SEVERAL TIMES. I KNEW THEN THAT I WAS GOING TO TRY AND ADOPT STAN, OF WHICH I CHANGED HIS NAME TO STANLEY, I AM SO GLAD THAT I FOUND HIM, AND THAT I WAS ABLE TO GIVE HIM A HOME AND LOTS OF LOVE OF WHICH HE DESERVES VERY MUCH!!! I HOPE TO RETIRE THIS COMMING MARCH 2011. I HAVE FOUND MY HOUSE, AND MY LITTLE DOG, AND WITH MY TAX REBAIT I PLAN TO PAY MY CAR OFF, AND THEN I WILL ONLY HAVE MY HOUSE PAYMENT AND MY UTILLITY BILLS. THIS IS WHERE I WANTED TO BE BEFORE I RETIRE!! THEN I CAN START MY VOLUNTEER WORK READY TO THE ELDERLY IN NURSING HOMES, AND IN HOSPITALS, THIS HAS BEEN MY DREAM FOR A LONG TIME FOR MY RETIREMENT LIFE!! lol
I AM WISHING EVERYBODY TO HAVE A WONDERFUL DAY AND I WILL SEE EVERYBODY TONIGHT AT CHATZY!!!! lol

I know there were at least two still there yesterday although I never actually saw her off the nest. I did see two heads stick out from under her Friday afternoon Leaky Time. Now this morning, Saturday at 6 AM Leaky Time, she has moved and I only see one… and it doesn’t look good. They started hatching about this time last week and it looks like it is over for this year. I don’t imagine this one is going to last the day.
It is too bad nature doesn’t know how to tell Mama Bird to forget about laying the eggs when something happens to Daddy. That was a lot of effort for her to come up with nothing to show for it.

MISTIC, I’m sorry you had difficulties with the first dog you adopted. I know it was stressful taking him back but I’m glad you have a better fit this time. Also, congratulations on having all your plans so close to being set for your future.

Good Morning Everybody!!! A Happy Saturday to Everybody!!! I really did have a wonderful time playing the games last night!!!! I have the Fireplace people here right now, they are putting the marble slab on top of the tiles on the Hearth under the stove, it is beige marble, and I think when they are done, I will finally have a fully working pellet stove fireplace which will be used instead of turning on my heat this winter!!! I hope everybody is having a wonderful Saturday!!! Lady Hawke, it has taken me a while to get things in order, and I have to say I thought I would never get my ducks all in a row at the same time!!! lol
Is school out for your children yet??? most of them here have to go until JUne 15th because of making up Snow days!! they went well over the allowed days for them to have.

MISTIC,

My daughter was due to be out of school half day May 21. Because we had so many snow days school is open until Wednesday, May 26. They were told to stop bringing their book bags last Tuesday and will not take them this week or the three make up days next week. I am pretty irritated by this. If all they are doing is playing then let them go. My daughter’s teacher has told them no more work, no mork worksheets, no more anything. All they have this week is parties. They started the parties on Friday and they will continue this week. Next week there won’t even be parties. It will just be three days of letting the clock run out. The grades are officially in this Wednesday. Awards day is Thursday. It is over. I don’t think my daughter is attending the make up snow days.

Aloha! ;)

This one baby bird doesn’t look too lively, bt it did eat and want more when mama came to feed it. :(

Once the baby birds started to die off in bunches, I sort of hoped they all would go fast so maybe she could find another male and still have a few babies this year. It didn’t happen, though. Now I hope she can save this one. She seems to not be an experienced mama. Perhaps she wll live through several springs and have a bunch in future years.

Even though Blue Tits average lifespan is only 1.5 years, they are tracking one that is over 20 years old. Maybe she will be a lucky one. I hope that whatever got the daddy is not still around. ;)

Oh well, I’m at work and need to get busy. ;)

Bbl. ;)

Hello all!

I still haven’t been able to get a good look at the remaining baby bird; every time I check, either the mama is sitting there, or he’s just not active enough for me to make him out in the nest.

I’m at work, and getting ready for lunch. I was missing Leaky so I figured I’d pop in. :)

DEANIE,

I actually do think Baby Bird is looking better. His Mama has been stuffing catterpillars down him and he is ready for them. I just don’t think he is doing as much aimless flopping around as he did when he had nest mates. I think he must have some down feathers starting because his little wings are darker than the rest of him now.

I know what you mean about having wished if they were going to die they would die soon and let her find a new mate and start over. I think that window of time has passed so I think our eggs are definitely in this one basket. She has to keep this baby alive by herself.

Hi JOSEPHINE

Back from lunch. (Feels like old times to pop in to say that.) Now just 3 hours to go in the day. It is very hard to get used to doing full 8-hour days after a few months of short days. I come back from lunch and it feels like the whole day is starting over again! :S

Did anyone else see the fly in the nest box? It looked huge next to the baby. I think it was a common house fly, not a huge blow fly. My monitors are all so big that the birds are actually larger on the screen than in real life, so i forget just how small the mama is and proportionatly how mich more tiny the baby is. ;)

I seem to be “nesting” myself. I am cleaning up and archiving a bunch of back files here and I am (slowly) organizing my closet at home. In both instances I am freeing up a fair amount of space. ;)

Off to put myself in danger of paper cuts. ;)

Morning all!

Deanie, I didn’t see the fly, but I’m excited that I just finally got a good look at the remaining baby AND for the first time I saw the mama feed it. Every time I’ve checked, she’s either just sitting there or not around. I hadn’t actually seen her interact with the baby.

I’ve been getting some cleaning done at home too, which mostly involves trying to get my books organized and under some kind of control. I’m seeing spaces of floor that I haven’t seen in years! ;)

I’m just the opposite, DEANIE. Mama Bird is probably 1/5 her real size on my monitor so Baby Bird is incredibly tiny compared to how big he really is.

We are supposed to have rain again on Thursday but at least it is midweek this time. It has been decimating our weekends all month.

I have my MIL temporarily parked at her apartment. We have follow up appointments to go through but tomorrow I can go do my parent thing as always.

I am really, really tired.
