Hello, Madame Minerva. I visit here almost daily to catch up on the latest HP news. It is extra quiet here nowadays. I also check on Asti’s titmouse and her eggs, le sigh, still unhatched.

Baking and flurking.

The mountain chickadees in our backyard tree have laid their eggs, hatched, and the chicks grown this past month. The babies took their test flights when they were about two weeks old (last week). Funny birdies.

back maybe later

The eggs are starting to crack open! I can see the tiny peckings of 5 eggs (about the 12-2:00 position). It’s 1700 hours 30 April 2010!

Josephine, that’s really exciting! She’s asleep on them right now, but I’ll be checking progress in the morning. Are your kids watching the nest too?

Good Morning Everybody!!! I have had a very busy weekend!!!! My plumbing is backed up and when the washing machine sends the drain out water it is not only comming up in the tub but also the toilet, I ran for a pan to scoop water out of the toilet to keep it from over flowing, I WAS NOT FAST ENOUGH!!!!! I have to call a plummer today and get him to bring a SNAKE to clear the backup from the line, all three items, the toilet, tub, and sink, all run into one main line, and somewhere there is a CLOGG OF MEGA PORPORTIONS!!!!!! I have also managed to get both of my decks re-stained with redwood stain, using a 3 inch brush, planted some flowers re-sprayed my chain-link-fense with silver, and taken my little dog Stanley to the vets for a routine check-up. I got grocery shopping done, and also the Fireplace people came at 9am Saturday Morning to install my Pellet stove Fireplace, I had to go and try to get some pellets for it, and ACE that was local to me did not have any in stock until June they said. My daughter also came down Saturday and her knee is finally healing, and they think she will not have to have surgery anymore. My weekend as I said was very busy!!!!! I did not only not get the chance to post, but I did not even lay eyes on my computer this weekend!!!! lol I hope everybody is having a TERRIFIC MONDAY!!! lol

Good Morning Everybody!!!! A Happy Tuesday to ALL!!!
We are going to have a high of 78 degrees here today, last night the thunderstorms were so bad we lost power in my area!!!! My alarm clock was flashing when I woke up this morning. Since I normally set my alarm clock 1 hour ahead, when I woke up this morning it said 5:03am, upon going to the living room and checking out my battery operated clock, my alarm clock was right on the time, which means we were out of power for 1 hour sometime last night!!! lol Well the sun is suppose to come out and shine sometime this morning, and I hope all of the showers are finished for today!!! lol
I AM WISHING EVERYBODY TO HAVE A SPECTACULAR DAY!!!!!

Aloha!

Vacation was a real bear. I’m actually glad to be back in my routine. ;)

Last year when i starte watching, thee were 8 babies. I think only 4 lived to fly away. It might have been only 3. ;)

Lady Hawke, Do you remember? You saw them actually leave the nest. ;)

Man! I really cannot type! ;)

Took the hound to the vet last Wednesday for his annual checkup and for a dental checkup. He’s healthy and got all his shots. He also had 15 teeth removed! The bill was well over $500. I think I’m still in shock. ;)

DEANIE, so glad to find you here. I was contemplating calling your cell phone. It appears we all forgot you were on vacation.

I think 4 babies left the nest but I was particularly concerned about one of them. I had not really expected it to make the night.

The mother is not on the next at 12:45 PM Leaky Time. There are clearly 10 unhatched eggs visible.

MISTIC,

Sorry about your plumbing problems. I’ve had plenty of large appliance problems in the last two weeks. It must be the season. Since you are in a new house you are having to work through all the invisible issues the inspector couldn’t see.

I remember when we moved into my parent’s current house in 1976 we had a long term guest visiting with us the night of the move. My parents ran off to do “moving in” errands. I was spending the night with a friend. I remember receiving a phone call from my aunt that if I heard from my parents they should call her. She had decided to take a bath and there was a problem. The house had been empty for several months before we purchased it and empty again several months while we put it to rights. No one had tried to bathe there. The pipes were full of roots.

Mama bird sat on the nest for maybe 5 minutes. She is up and preening herself.

You are right DEANIE. Even when she is on the nest she never stops twitching. I don’t see how she has the energy to feed them once they hatch. I love watching the babies but now we know there are going to be some tears, especially with 10 eggs.

But this year we are braced for it. ;)

Actually I doubt that this is the same momma bird as last year. Blue Tits only live about 1.5 years in the wild. I suppose that this could be one of last years babies, though. ;)

Good Morning Everybody!!! A Happy Wednesday to ALL!!!!
Lady Hawke, My toilet had such a clogg it was unbelievable!!!!! I do not know how long it has been that way, but I do know that I did not cause ALL OF THAT!!!! anyway it cost me $275 and I was glad to pay the price, because now I can NOT HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT ANYTHING OVERFLOODING AND WILL NOT HAVE TO WASH MY TOILET SET AND BATHROOM RUGS FOR A WHILE ANYWAY. I have the fireplace Man who installed the Pellet fireplace this past Saturday comming to my house this evening, apparently some of the tiles (hearth) are cracked, and may need replacing and he is going to demonstrate how my new pellet fireplace works!!!! He will be waiting for me infront of my house when I pull up this evening at 4pm. I did not have to pay for this pellet Fireplace, the wood burning fireplace in my living room had a cracked flume, and the choices were to have all of the bricks taken down on the outside and replace the flume, and put them all back up again, or have a gas insert and just point the bricks on the outside so water does not leak in-between the bricks like it has been doing for quite some time. Or have a Pellet Stove Fireplace installed and just having to point up the bricks on the outside of the house like they should be. The owner allowed and wrote a $6,000 dollar check to the company that did the estimate cost, and gave the check to the realistate lady who will hold it until the work is finished, they knew the fireplace had this problem, and designated out the money to have the problem fixed. The Owner also paid all closing cost. If the money had not been allocated for this repair, I would not have had the money too do this, I would just have had to have the bricks pointed up on the outside, and never been able to use the fireplace until I had the money to replace the cracked flume. the pellet stove fireplace was the most efficient way of a heat source, pellets can be bought at hardware store for about $4.00 and this is about a 45 pound bag, the heat from this pellet fireplace will heat my whole house, and it will work even if the electric goes out. The pelletts need to be bought and stored in the summer months, because in the winter the price will go up for them. I have a sealed shed in my back yard, and the perfect place to store them, I bought a metal bucket to carry them in, because if you were to use a plastic one, it would burnup trying or resting the bucket on the stove from the heat, once the pellets are poured in the top that lift up on the stove, the stove will feed itself the pellets as it needs them, (auto set) and you to not have the mess of ashes to clean up, or have to worry about sparks flying out of the chimney or on your hearth or carpet in the living room. but you still have the enjoyment of a three-sided-tempered glass view of seeing the fire burning and of course the heat from it goes into your house and NOT UP YOUR CHIMNEY TO HEAT THE OUTSIDE!!! lol I AM WISHING EVERYBODY TO HAVE A WONDERFUL WEDNESDAY!!!! lol

One of the eggs looks deformed (elongated) …that’s normal right? It’s starting to hatch (15:40)? Back later.

Just wondering…is there a papa bird, and where is it? I always see only one bird. The chickadees in our backyard go in their little nest together sometimes.

Back tomorrow.

The Papa bird better be bringing food to the Mama bird. Although I have only seen the Mama bird. No Papa.

I think she wiggles so much because she turns the eggs with her legs. I am not sure how many are there but high numbers will ensure that at least three or four will make it. Laws of nature, I guess. :/

Josephine…How are you?

ASTI confirmed 10 eggs on Apr. 26 and that is all there are now. So, that is when MAMA BIRD started incubating them. Incubation lasts 12 to16 days. This is day number 11 so they may start hatching as early as tomorrow, up through Tuesday.

It is about to get exciting.
