Actually, all my days are in May, except Christmas. My anniversary is in May. My birthday is in May, Mother’s Day is in May. So, all my celebratory opportunites are in May, except Christmas. It is really too much strain on one month. I should have considered more wisely and chosen to be born in July as regularly scheduled.

LadyHawke – I feel guilty too. I have my Birthday in April, Secretary’s Day in April, and then Mother’s Day in early May. In a span of about 3 weeks…I get presents THREE times! At home and at work.

I have had a great Mother’s Day so far. I love grown children. LOL! The son has bought me the pasta strainer I wanted. The daughter had already bought me a pasta pot for my birthday. My son’s GF bought me my favorite fragrance set from Bath and Body works. My daughter and her boyfriend brought me flowers and a set of SQUARE dinner plates like the ones I see on the cooking show….and THIS IS THE BEST part…as a great concession to my Harry Potter Syndrome…my daughter bought me a…….. Dumbdelore’s Army T-Shirt!!!!!!

Yes. The first year I had a job, my mother had her biggest Christmas haul since she was single. I did not get an employee discount, but I did buy everything on sale, since I could grab them in the first hour of the day and have them held until I could actually pay for them at lunch, or grab them and put them in lay-away at lunch.

When I moved back in after my first marriage, both parents cleaned up. They had taken a lot of pictures in Belgium in the 50s, but they were all on slides. My parents did not have a slide projector, so had seldom actually seen those pictures. I gave them a slide projector and I had sneaked enough of the pictures to fill 2 carousels. We had a Christmas slide show.

Those pictures were all taken when I was 3 to 5 years old. We actually saw them projected on the wall for the first time when I was 21. I have all of the slides and that projector now. My oldest sister had them put on disk and kept a copy of the disks, but I have both disks and the original slides. ;)

I think it is almost naptime. I will change oyut the washer and dryer and start a new load then head for bed. ;)

We don’t go to gamble. We have a child with us. We go for the all you can eat $25 a person seafood buffet. This year the $25 a person is not in the cards. So, I will content myself with the games we do play at the dining room table with KFC. Maybe things will be back to normal by next year. Let’s pray.

My DS doesn’t know I have decided against the traditional trip to the casinos. He probably won’t fight it. He feels guilty about the all you can eat aspect. Even though I am watching calories I don’t worry much about it on my birthday. For one meal I eat what I want and since it is seafood I can pretty much eat all I can hold anyway.

My only real regret is the trip to the casinos represents an opportunity to get dressed up and I love to get dressed up. Regardless, I am going to splurge on getting my hair cut and permed. I KNOW I have a dress coming for my birthday and I want to do the hair, makeup, dress and high heels routine and take a photo of the new me, even if it is just for a photo op. I will have a new photo to share.

I was just curious… After a winning streak on the Craps table, I got “comped” for my room and meals for my entire stay at the joint… Even the wet bar in the room was covered!!! but not LUNCHES! Breakfasts, and dinners, and shows were free… but we had to pay for lunches…. Go figger…. Anyone know why that is/was???

Won sorry, don’t know why – I do know from experience that if you get things stolen from your room you get a lot of comps and unfortunately – I’ve never had enough money to have a winning streak at any table. I do belong to the players clubs and at one point my ex and I had enough points earned to get our meals for free on 2 different trips in a row, but it took a while to build them up. To some degree I think they gave you breakfasts because they think most people will sleep thru that meal so they were really giving only the dinner and shows for free and made some $$ back on lunches.. just a theroy.

I think I am going to head off and spend some time with the daughter. The DS is still at work but it won’t be long before my daughter’s bedtime. I need to give her some food and I probably need to load a plate for the DS and find something for myself. Aren’t left overs wondreful?

Sirius On the few occassions when I have gambled I put my seed money away as soon as I earned it back and gambled with the profits. Every time I made another small chunk I put it away and gambled with the smaller excess. My girlfriend and I used to go to the track in Hot Springs. We would split the $2 bets, $1 each. I think you have to have the nerve for it or you just can’t do it with style or enjoy it properly.

that’s what I do too Lady Hawke, I also follow the advise of David Bromberg (70s folk/rock musician): " A Man Should Never Gamble What He Can’t Afford to Lose" and I do have the nerve for it, lol… just usually not the $$ for it. but still enjoy it it and do have style (at least in my mind!) nhight LH So you read Little Hawke a bed-time story???
