Aloha! ;)

Looks like I’ll move here permanently on page 5. ;)

Lady Hawke I hope you and Little Hawke have a great flight and that everything is running smoothly when you call to check in at home. ;)

Hello! I’m fine with switching over here permanently…I had no idea there were already so many comments. I think the last time I had checked there were only two pages.

Afternoon all! I have followed Deanie’s suggestion and moved over to the new poll. I have just posted a photo of my new Hufflepuff design bracelet in the usual place.

I am happy to see that Lady Hawke has set off on her holiday and will be meeting several of you at Leaky Con next week. The excitement is mounting!

Livestream from the UK DH part 2 premiere starts in about a half hour! Unfortunately, I can’t watch because I’m at work. :( I was going to just have it playing in the background with my headphones on so I could at least hear it like I did for the last one, but the stream needs the latest version of the Flash player, which my work computer doesn’t have…and I’d need an IT administrator password to download it because they’ve tightened security. I don’t think that would go over too well: “Hey, can you put the latest version of Flash on my computer?” “Why, what’s it for? You don’t need Flash for any work-related activities.” “Oh, um, I was just hoping to listen to the HP premiere while I worked…” Yeah, no, that’s not happening, LOL.

Hopefully they’ll keep replaying the footage once it’s over, like they’ve done in the past. For those watching, keep an eye out for Darren Criss and Joe Walker (who played Voldemort in AVPM and Umbridge in AVPS) – they’ll be there! :)

I watched the World Premiere from Trafalgar Square from 6.0pm until the end. It was very interesting, Emma looked very feminine and Jo wore a striking but unwieldy dress in mid green with pink roses appliqued onto it. The sun shone on the proceedings for a change. Many fans had come from overseas for the last premiere, they just felt that they had to be there. Some had queued for three days!

Must go to bed, I have a doctor’s appointment in the morning.

Evening all!

Today turned into such a hectic day; work was what I’d expected Tuesday to be like, with tons of post-4th of July report requests. I’d expected it on Tuesday and braced myself for it, then when Tuesday was relatively quiet, I relaxed, thinking the holiday craziness was behind me. Boy was I wrong! It apparently just took a while for the results to sink in and for people to start realizing all the many different ways they wanted to be able to look at the numbers. I wound up doing a 10-hour day. It worked out okay, though, because I was at a bit of a standstill on my homework since I was waiting to hear back from my partner. I kept checking my email, and would have left earlier if I’d heard from her, but since I didn’t, it was better to do as much work as I could then so that now when I go in on Saturday, I’ll have less waiting for me and can possibly leave a little bit earlier. My partner wrote back just after I got home, and we made some decent progress, so I’m feeling pretty good.

I’m now going to reward myself by checking out the various premiere pics/videos posted around. I was tearing up just reading the updates from Twitter, so I’m sure I’ll be a mess watching it for myself.

Hermine, Leaky is EST, except that it’s generally been about 15-20 minutes fast. We’re not quite sure how that’s happened!

Jen sorry for the hectic day, but YAY for getting so much done and feeling good about everything.

This has been a very weird day for me. Not bad, but I just feel “off kilter” or something. Probably just lack of sleep, but I don’t particularly like it. And I’m dreading watching the premiere coverage. I think the theater in FL better stock some row boats outside for the flood of tears before, during and after the movie. :(

On a successful note, my dress was ready! Yay! And I’m fairly happy with the way it looks. The only real disappointment to me still is that it’s not the Rowena Ravenclaw deal, but I really love the dress. LD’s was not ready for her to pick up on her lunch hour (grrrr…all they had to do was attach two tiny straps and they’ve had it a week, did they really have to wait until the last flipping minute?) so I will pick it up for her tomorrow. And that’s IT as long as I don’t need any more clothes myself. Everything else trip related is here in the house or already packed. Once I start packing myself I’ll be able to see for sure what I need, hopefully nothing, then done deal and the weekend will be relatively relaxing for a change. Hooray!

Morning all!

Lemon, I hope you were able to catch up on a little bit of sleep last night and that you’re feeling better today. I hate that off feeling, especially when I can’t pinpoint exactly what’s causing it so I can try to remedy it. Glad to hear the dress is ready and that you love it. I hope today’s productive so you can rest this weekend to gear up for the craziness that is ahead! :P

It’s a gray and rainy day here today, which is making it very hard for me to get up and get going. I think I might actually start to pack, or at least lay out the stuff I want to bring to see if I can spot anything I need to buy. I’ve never packed this early though; I hate doing it ahead of time because once I start packing, I just want to be able to go. I usually don’t start until the night before, and even then, I usually just wind up leaving most of it for the morning of. Then, I just get everything into the suitcase and head out, before I can waste too much time stressing over what I might have forgotten. For the most part, anything I might miss can be bought wherever I’m going, so it saves me a lot of wasted anxiety to do it quickly. So, I’m not 100% sure I want to start this early…it’s more I’m feeling like I should after reading about how much everyone else has been preparing ahead of time, LOL. Plus, despite our progress last night, I’m at another point in the school work where I need to wait to hear from my partner, and since that probably won’t be until she gets out of work tonight, I’m in a bit of a holding pattern for today and I don’t want it to feel like wasted time.

Ooh, HAPPY BIRTHDAY, IRONSOS! (Thanks for the heads up, MM!) I don’t see any cake…I’m just getting tiny little squares.

After a huge deluge complete with thunder, lightning, and flickering power, it has quieted and stopped raining. I still can’t muster any motivation though. I’m feeling quite blah, yet not tired enough to take a nap. At this point I wish I could just fall asleep and wake back up with renewed energy. I shouldn’t be going off to do something fun, but since I’m not getting anything done anyway, maybe I’ll go to a movie or take a book and go out for lunch in the hopes that I’ll be able to buckle down when I return.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, IRONSOS!!! And many more!!!

Wishing I knew how to do the cake thingy… so cute, Felipe And I know MM’s is, too, only it’s under an Invisibility Cloak right now. ;) You guys are so clever.

MM that would be awesome news about the chest tightness! Though it would be sucky to think you missed LeakyCon and could have gone. :( But it’s better to have been safe than sorry. I’m planning a long LINE of margaritas in your honor. {{{{HUGS}}}}

Jen here’s to having fun AND being productive! I would say you have been incredibly productive already and deserve some fun, so go have both. The fact that you keep getting so much done that you can’t move forward until you hear from your partner is testimony to your work ethic and accomplishments. You deserve a break. And don’t let us psycho planners influence you and make you change your usual schedule, LOL. That’s when things tend to get forgotten! Stick to your guns and do it your way. You’ll feel better in the end.

For me, it makes me feel better to have so much done and ready to throw in the car. (Although I definitely do want to go NOW as well! LOL) I’m looking forward to this weekend being a lot more relaxing than I originally thought it would be. Plus, I think since there’s so many of us, there’s just no way to wait to do it all, we would definitely forget things, or even if we didn’t, tempers would be short because I’d be stressed and rushing or discovering one more load of laundry needed doing or another pair of pants needed purchased… For LeakyCon last time, when it was just me, though, I only packed the day before. That was much saner! And when we’re going somewhere fairly local or on a regular, small family trip, we do all wait until the day before, or even the morning of, and the kids handle much more of their own packing and gathering. For this, I wanted to be sure to check each item off the list. There are way too many small pieces to account for.

Unfortunately, the insomnia issue continues. My kids are not used to me being up before them, it’s freaking them out, LOL. I am definitely feeling spacey today. The good news is, I think I’m at about the tail end of this round of tolerance and tonight or tomorrow will probably crash hard and actually sleep. Then I’ll have another couple sleepless nights until we go, which will help the Xanax kick in so I can sleep through the flight. So, it’s all good! LOL As long as I don’t have to drive far today. I don’t think I’d be too safe behind the wheel right now. As of now there are only a couple of quick local errands to run.

Since I couldn’t stay asleep, I finally gave in and got up to start packing my own suitcase, which is the final one other than the one for the Ball gowns. I’m debating not packing that one until Monday night, or if I can stand it, possibly even Tuesday morning, to avoid having the Ball gowns crushed in there as long as possible. I’d have to “practice pack” it once to make sure they’ll fit in there properly, weigh it to make sure it’s not over, then unpack just the dresses (the shoes and accessories could stay), and throw them in last thing before we leave. LD, who is, if possible, even more compulsive a planner than I am, was completely stressed out by that idea when I proposed it the other night, she wants not only everything packed ASAP, but the suitcases loaded in the car and ready to go NOW, LOL. She’d be very happy if all we have to do Tuesday morning is wake up, brush hair and teeth, get dressed, grab the carry ons and go. That’s pretty much all we will have to do, but she’s freaking out about leaving the Ball gowns out until then.

However, the car is already gassed up, the final errands, as far as I know now, will be handled today, I’m running the final two loads of laundry right now, which I need before I can finish packing my suitcase. I don’t have quite as extensive a wardrobe as my children, who were able to pack 100% for the trip and STILL have clothes available for the next four days! Since no one is taking jeans and it’s still cool here, they’re just wearing those through the weekend. Over the weekend, I will finish the daily schedules, I’ve already put all my writer loops on Daily DIgest so I don’t come back to 10,000 emails, and today is the DS’s last day of work before we leave. LD has to go in to work at the bank for four hours on Monday, but she’ll probably be home before the rest of us are even fully up and functional.

Then all we have to do is relax. The girls and I will go get our mani/pedis, we’ll finish packing the carry ons and changing into our (much smaller) trip purses, then get dinner out and come home to watch DH part 1 and try to get a little sleep. That’s it!

It is very cool and overcast here today, sort of surreal for July. It’s not helping us prepare for Florida, LOL, but I’m not complaining! Usually by now I have had several meltdowns over the lack of A/C in the house. Hopefully we’ll miss the worst weeks here while we’re gone, although that’s probably an “out of the frying pan into the-literal-fire” sort of scenario. Normally it is pretty hot by our standards here at this point in the summer. We did have one really hot day this week, so I had the DS hook up our portable A/C unit in our room, but that was the only night we’ve used it.

I hope LH is having a terrific time right now, and that the weather is much better! I wonder what ride she’s in line for right this second? And I wonder what LittleHawke is thinking of the whole theme park thing, since she’s never been to Disney World. I bet she is wide-eyed over everything at Epcot!

Off to get some more packing done, have a great day, everyone!

LemonFaerie, I am tired just reading your post. I am glad you are organized.

Bookworm Jen, if you are in a holding pattern and not ready to pack yet, make yourself a packing list. I usually start mine 6 weeks ahead of a trip and organize it by person or “household stuff” like the camera, everyone’s documents, etc. Then create a pile of things you aren’t going to need between now and your trip. Things like your bathing suit and your travel-sized toiletries can go in the pile.

DS and the boy went to my in-laws for the weekend. DS wants to buy shoes at a specific shoe store near his parents’ house. The girl and I are staying home to go to the summer party at her Kindergarten. I will probably take her shopping in the morning and maybe go out for lunch before the party. I am really craving a Döner Kebab, but I don’t know if the girl will like it.

Evening all!

Lemon, hope you were able to finish everything you wanted to today!

Thanks, Hermine. I know I should make a packing list, but for some reason even that is something I can’t stand doing ahead of time. I don’t quite know why…I love having lists for things I need to do – like places I need to stop, or tasks like laundry, pay bills, etc. and sometime to feel like I accomplished something I’d planned to in a day, I’ll throw on stuff like eat breakfast, take a shower, LOL. So I don’t know why I have this mental block when it comes to stuff for trips. I will jot down stuff if something pops into my head that I know I want to buy (right now it’s more Bonine and these Ear Plane things I buy to reduce the pain I get during takeoff and landing) or if I think of something that I know I want to pack that isn’t part of a normal getting ready routine (like my phone charger!), but for whatever reason I can’t make myself sit down and try to write it all out and definitely not categorize it. It doesn’t make sense – I’m a librarian-in-training; we love to organize and categorize stuff, yet it doesn’t work for me with this. I just seem to do better to pack as I get ready. So, I take a shower, I pack each thing I used when showering; I get dressed, I pack all of my clothes items; I brush my teeth and my hair, pack those, etc. I’m sure it would be different if I had kids to pack for, like Lemon said, but for just me it works. Of course, now watch – after me going on and on about how it works for me, I’m going to forget something major and be kicking myself for not doing it ahead of time. :P

Having said all that, today felt like a pretty much wasted day. I just never got in the right frame of mind to get anything done. I did run out to grab a bite for lunch, but was no more motivated when I got back. I did hear back from my partner at night, but all that served to do was build up my anxiety about the class as it set it once again just how much there is going to be to do in that week after I return. I am just so filled with anger and resentment towards this class right now that it’s hard to get the work done. I think I’m really starting to wish I hadn’t taken it. This is a class that I should have been enjoying, focusing on the assignments and really thinking about ways to apply them in real-life and instead, I’m rushing through and hating every minute of it. It’s the first time since I started the program that I’m so fed up I am tempted to just walk away and say, “Forget it.” I won’t, of course – I know it’s my frustration talking. I don’t know whether to be more frustrated with the darn department for cancelling the fall class and running this ridiculous 5-week cram session or with myself for not just sucking it up and taking the year off. I suppose I could drop the class, but at this point I wouldn’t get my money back, so I’d be out nearly $2000. So, I’ve got to push on through and find some way to get it done. Sorry, just a long stream of consciousness – this is the rant that’s been going through my head every day lately, sometimes multiple times a day. I go through this whole thing of how much I don’t want to do this and manage to talk myself back around to knowing that I’ve just got to get it done.

Hey everyone!!!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY IRONSOS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (I’d make this big and colorful, but I’d rather not kill this poll too.) ;)

I went to the hospital to visit my friend today. She had surgery yesterday, so she was in a lot of pain, but otherwise, she’s doing better. She said sometime next week they’ll move her into a rehab ward, where she’ll have to stay for a week before she can go home. She appreciates all the thoughts and prayers. :)

I’m spending my weekend watching Harry Potter on ABC family. They showed a clip from the Room of Requirement, and one from Gringotts. I’M SOOOOO EXCITED!!!!!! I don’t know how I’m going to survive the week…

I am quite behind on “LeakyCon prep.” The procrastinator in me is coming out again… Though I have been quite busy lately, but honestly, I could have dedicated more time to planning what I need to take and start packing already.

Yay ironsos! :-D
