Ironsos I feel exhausted just mentally walking through it. I wonder how many staff they employed to run and maintain it?

Graymayne: I must admit that some of it looks like a resort.

Daughter’s tests are OVER. She’s gone to bed very, very tired out.

I am tired too. I have decided I am not cut out to work six days a week. It hurts! But I am not in a position to turn down the hours if they are on offer. It’s a good thing I have an amoeba job, because I feel like an amoeba right now.

Lady Hawke, stressed Mums need special treats and something to look forward to. You work so hard and so selflessly, you deserve a gift to yourself. If this trip is a possibility, go for it.

I found out today how quickly they can expect the teachers to turn in the senior grades. The last two exams were given this morning at 7:30 and 9:30. The teachers had to have the seniors final grades in by 3 PM. So, that did not leave much room for any intensive writing tests or long answer questions. The teachers had to teach two afternoon classes to younger students after the exams were given to the seniors in the morning. That means they had to give tests they could grade with other students in the room. I suppose some lucky teachers might only teach seniors and they had both afternoon classes free to do their grading since all seniors were out of the building before noon.

My daughter has begged not to be sent to school tomorrow. She is worn thin at this point and still faces two days of intensive testing next week for those pre-college board tests. I fear she will have to go due to her accrued absences. I know they will not be doing anything. Their text books have been taken up. They can’t check out a library book as the library has shut down for their end of the year inventory. They are just holding place now, waiting for the last days to pass and to get through those last two days of testing. The next three days are likely to be nothing but movie watching. I do resent them insisting the children attend school to watch movies. If they are there they should be doing something of value, even if it is learning about something on which they will never be tested. Have projects, teach them a craft, how to measure ingredients in cooking properly, something, not just take roll and then watch animated movies.

Ironsos The house was beautiful but most of it did resemble a resort. Funny how your taste in houses change as you get older. I remember wanting a large house. After I got sick I was glad to move into the smaller home. When my daughter was house hunting, I remined her of how big the electric bills were going to be in winter to keep it warm and in the summer to keep it cool. I also thought about the expense of the upkeep for her pool. I do enjoy swimming in her pool during the summer.

It is rainey again today. The furnance came on last night so it must have really turned cool. I guess since it was 40 this morning, it is cool.

Cool G: To be honest a simple studio or 1 bedroom apt. would be just fine with me.

This looks potentially great fun! I haven’t enrolled, as it seems to involve some time commitment, but I’d love to know from anyone who does! I might promote it to daughter as a fun project for the long summer holiday.

I signed up ASTI and put myself in Hufflepuff, regardless of what Pottermore did with me. I don’t want to be a Hufflepuff but I know I am so I put myself there.

IRONSOS and COOLG, I know what it is to have a house too big to take care of on my own. Unless I am rich and famous enough to have someone else clean it and to have no worries about taking care of it I don’t want a big house.

Lady Hawke The house next door was too big for me to take care of after I had gotten sick. The DS suggested that we move next door to the place I now live. I adjusted because I left most of our stuff in the big house. This became a problem after the DS died. Not only did I have to try to keep the property up here but next door too. We thought we had taken care of the situation by putting the property in my daughters name. I thought they would at least keep the grass mowed. This did not happen so when they got the opportunity to sell it as is, I agreed. It was hard to lose so many of my things but I had no place to put them nor the energy to sell what I could. At least now my family will not have to deal with it after I die. I thought about this while you were trying to empty your parents house they had for years. I just think of it as if I lost it all in a fire. Besides it is nice not to have to worry about paying the taxes and dues which which were very costly.

I fell asleep while watching TV last night. Thank goodness I had recorded the Barbara Walters Special. I work up early this morning. It is still cold and rainey. Shoot I forgot what I meant to say. Now I can’t remember it.

OH it was about my dogs. I live here because of them. I think I told you that while we were living at the lake, our house was broken into and destroyed. What wasn’t messed up because of the breakin was destroyed because a tree fell on the roof and made a hole in it. I did not know this because I could not find my key to get inside when I came by to pick up mail. My kids would not let me move back here but eventually I convinced them I could make it liveable again. I needed to do more but I just decided I could live with it. I did not expect to still be here this long or I would have painted the walls etc. I must be feeling better because I want to wash the outside walls. I need to make it look better from the road. Lol

When I start washing my dishes I wonder why I wait to wash them. MY dish water is just as clean when I finish as when I started. This means that the waiting dishes have been completely cleaned of food before putting them in the dish pan to wait until I really wash them with soap. By the time I am finished washing them, I know. My back is hurting so bad you would think I have sweapt and moppedl. I wonder why this is ? I have know that mopping is rally a strain on my back but forget that standing over the sink washing dishes is just as bad.

I need to go to the store to get more bleach cleaner. This is what I have been using to spray on the ants when they invade my sink. Isn’t it time for them to be gone? Seems to me that they are usually only invading about 3 weeks befor they leave. The rain has really made the grass grow. It looks like I did not mow this week. I’ll be glad when I only have to mow every two weeks. Lol

My mother was not interested in changing the locks on the house when my parents first moved in. I kept mentioning it and she kept saying she didn’t want to spend the money.

Suddenly this week it occurred to her she was living in a house to which other people likely had keys. Fortunately, the previous owner had installed locks that could be rekeyed without changing out the entire tumbler system. To do so you had to have the original key, another key that allowed you to override the key system, and the new key. So, I was able to go have copies made of a random key the hardware store had on hand as a reject that would fit in the lock and I was able to rekey all her door locks to that key. She has four doors of which the two back ones also have deadbolts in addition to the basic locks whereas we only have three doors at our house. I’m so glad we didn’t have to replace the tumblers to six locks. My mother’s house has the front door, the door from the garage, the back door and the door in the master bedroom to the back porch.

I did my DS’s laundry at my mother’s house while we watched the Preakness Stakes this afternoon. We are very excited that we still have a contender for the Triple Crown. That will make watching the Belmont Stakes in three weeks more interesting and exciting. It is never as much fun when there is no hope for a Triple Crown winner.

LadyHawke – no proposal yet. We know he has the ring but I’m not sure when he plans on doing it. I thought it was going to be at graduation but …. Nothing! :(

We had a gorgeous day for the Graduation. The sun was shining and we had good weather even if it’s was a little chilly outside. :)
We went out to lunch at Pappadeux Seafood Kitchen. Excellent food!! The DS fell in love with the Mahi Mahi.

My son couldn’t attend. He had to work. It was mandatory. He kept calling. Poor baby. :(
I was on pins and needles the whole day expecting the proposal at any moment but nothing. We came home and my daughter was going out with her BF to meet friends at a local Pub. Now I sit here expecting a call from my daughter. If he doesn’t propose today or tomorrow I’m going to die of anticipation. This waiting is killing me!! :(

BIGG has completed a 10k race today in Manchester UK to raise money for the cancer hospital in which his cousin was treated. It happened to be the hottest day of the year so far but he seemed to look back to normal by the time his Finisher’ s medal was handed to him.

MM, we love Pappasitos. I have only been to Pappadeaux once but I was surprised there was one where you live now. I thought all the Pappa restaurants were only in Texas. When we went to Houston for the Texas Renaissance Festival in October we had dinner at Pappasitos in Humble.

GRAYMAYNE, I didn’t know BIGG was a runner. I’m always impressed with people who can run at all, much less finish a race. I have never been able to run thirty feet. Speed walking is another thing altogether but I am an incredibly inefficient runner and I use up a lot of energy unnecessarily.

Hi everyone

Had a lovely weekend with my sister – BIL and nephew were at Wembley watching Hull in the FA cup final . . which was a bit of a dream come true for lots of my friends and family. My sister and I realised that its been a very long time since we spent time with just the two of us together. We went for a lovely walk, had a nice lunch, watched the cup final and then went out for cocktails. . . it was fab.

MM I saw your pictures on FB and was telling my sister about the impending proposal. She thought it was lovely . . . . I’m so excited for you. Fingers crossed it happens soon

LH you know I’ll be in London to meet up with you.

Laura I’m hoping to move house too? Just waiting to sell mine. Hope your purchase goes through ok?

asti I’m working on the workshop now. Its making my brain hurt. I’ve done lots of adult workshops before but never ones for teenagers so I’m slightly terrified. I’m hoping to get it finished tonight so I can work on my 2nd book. Editor came back with some comments. So next week I’ll be back to editing and updating the story. Also had a discussion about the book cover which was very exciting.

Just to cheer you up . . my new ‘why am I such a klutz?’ story involves me working late at home last Thursday to finish off a report. I realised I’d had no tea (dinner in civilised English society). It was 9pm and too late to cook so i fixed some muesli and yoghurt. As I wandered back into the living room with my bowl in hand I didn’t realise the dog had decided to relocate to a space just next to the door. I tripped over her, the bowl went flying and the muesli flew along with it . .. I’m having my sofas cleaned on Tuesday and although I’ve scrubbed the ceilings a number of times the concrete like muesli is resisting all attempts to remove it. The dog is having a fab time sniffing around the room looking for bits of yoghurt and muesli that I’ve missed . . ..

Lady Hawke He isn’t a runner, this was a charity race with thousands of people doing the same thing, raising money for the cause of their choice, but there was a section for professional racers, men and women, and the racing wheelchairs. It is like a shorter version of the London Marathon, and he has taken part before but not for a year or so. When he was a teenager he took part in a much smaller, local event, a charity walk of 22 miles. My DS did that same walk for ten years to raise money for the theatre group I belonged to. It is necessary to undertake training before doing any of these activities or you would suffer the consequences and probably fail to finish. I tried to send you an email earlier but it came bouncing back – too full?

I worked today but it was a slow, long day. This is the last week of school and many to most of the students are not bothering to show up. I had one class today with one student. We both sat and read.

Then, tonight was our hospital meeting/dinner night. So, it has been a long day away from home.

Our days are going to begin heating up this week. It was still much cooler than normal yesterday but I suspect that may be the last cool day for a long time.
