I woke up this morning sneezing and a running nose. Their was dog hair everywhere. I know it was from Bridgette because it was white but it was everywhere. I guess the furnance has been running more so it has blown the dog hair. So the first thing I had to do was sweep and vacuum. I still need to finish dusting but at least the sneeing has stopped. This is the second time this has happened in the last couple of months. When Einstein was alive, I had to take allergy pills everyday. Since my boxers are short hair dogs, they usually don’t bother me too much. The last time this happened, I thought I had a cold until it went away so quickly.

Jennifer brought one of her clients by yesterday. Evidently he had a good time since he did not want to leave. He liked sitting at my table and talking. He was 40 but looked 25. When they first came, I thought it was one of my son-in-law’s friends. They looked a lot alike. I was glad my table was cleaned off so we could sit comfortably.

I need to go to the store today. Sunday a new winter storm is coming. I am worried about the freezing rain. We usually get about 8 inches the first of March. It usually doesn’t stay around long. Goodness I thought today was March 1. I am losing the days. I need to look at my phones and equipment more often. At least the TV is telling me what day it is. Need to check out when Nascar programs come on.

I have the keys. Now I need to switch the electricity, gas and water service to my parent’s name. I didn’t get the keys until almost 5 PM. I hope I can switch service from the former owner to my parents on a weekend.

The flooring people are due in on Monday.

Once they are finished I can get the movers in.

Then, I will need to switch the cable and telephone service.

I’m writing this as a reminder to myself.

Lady Hawke Great news! Things are beginning to pick up speed. Presumably you will be looking for another medical practice for them to attend once the move is accomplished?

Lady Hawke: Hope things work out in good order for the rest of the move.

When I was out and about today I thought I was making good time till I found that my watch was on the fritz and
finally quite working. Just ordered a new on from amazon.

No, there will be no change in medical practice. They are moving from one location to another in the same town. They will still be covered by the same services. They are moving less than 5 miles, just from the west edge of town to the east edge of town. I really don’t think his medical care has changed enough to be the cause of his deterioration. He has been followed by the same doctor for six years. This is the day he went into the hospital six years ago with pneumonia and was also diagnosed with congestive heart failure and Parkinson’s Disease. You may remember the long hospitalization when both my parents were in the hospital at the same time and he almost died. Under the care of his current doctor he came home and improved enough to be able to go on all those vacations. My mother saw the doctor last week and we discussed my father as well. He said the biggest component of what is happening to my father is that he has given up. That is what they were telling us at rehab, that his inability was in his head, not in his physical weakness. I know he has been willing himself to die. He started vocalizing it out loud during the night when we were out of town for the first of those four funerals we attended this summer. I lay there in the dark in the hotel room and listened to him plead with God to let him die, all night long.

We are just south of the freezing rain line. Earlier today we were in the freezing rain line. So, we will have no idea what will happen until the storm has passed.

Ironsos That was interesting. Seems fans are still changing things around.

I am resting. I had decided that I was not going to the store today but……….a winter storm warming came over the TV. This was a winter storm watch but guess they have finally updated things. Now instead of a couple inches of snow, we are getting the usal at this time of year- from 8 to 12 inches. May have freezing rain which is what I worry about since I am total electric. I still have my fireplace but the son-in-law would not hook up the gas since he was afraid of carbon minoxide poisening. Remember I closed off the downstairs and he said I was no longer open enough to use it. One thing or another. I closed the downstairs off so my electric bill would not be so high. As it is, it was $365 this month. That is what it used to be for my budget amount for gas plus the electric. I only have one more month with high electric bill.

Anyway I have my month’s supply of dog food.

Lady Hawke I hope the move will put your Dad in better spirits.

It is currently 70 F (21 C) here. We have been added to the Winter Storm Warning that is effecting MM and COOL G. A WARNING means there is a storm coming and they expect you to be hit by a significant Winter Storm. Nevertheless, we have been bypassed by many a 100% chance winter storm. We are to get accumulations of 1/4 inch (6.35 mm) to 3/4 inch (1.905 cm) of ice and sleet. If that really were to happen we would be seeing scenes like occurred in Atlanta a few weeks ago.

I simply don’t see how it can happen. It is so warm here right now I don’t see how the ground can cool enough to accumulate any ice at all.

I took the day off from the house duties. Tomorrow I will measure the kitchen cabinets for shelf paper and cut it tomorrow night while waiting for the ice storm to hit.

In truth I would not mind a day off from school because I am going to take it anyway. If we had the day off then I would not be taking an official “non-work day”. I don’t want enough to make it impossible for me to get around if I need to visit any utility offices to get the electricity, water and gas service transferred to my parents name. Right now the house is fully served and the original owner is paying for it, just as my parents paid for the service the first weekend after their house closed and the new owners took possession last summer.

We went to see GRAVITY this afternoon. It served to support the terror my daughter and I feel about space travel. Sandra Bullock carried the show almost single handed. George Clooney was about for a bit and probably had five times as many lines as she did but she was on screen almost 100% of the movie, 75% of it alone. Acting without anyone else there is a high accomplishment. So, although I would count the movie as an action adventure, it was also a very introspective look at an actress, lots of silent character development.

Lady Hawke Do not let the warm weather of yesterday give you a false sence of it can’t happen. Yesterday I did go shopping and had to take my coat off before I got back home. This morning the temp is just a little below freezing but their is ice on the ground. It is not raining but more of a mist right now. They have updated the amount of ice accumulation we will be getting. Funny enough the area south of us is getting more accumulation than we are. Of course the snow amount has been up too. This does not surprise me. I think I said several days ago that we usually get 8 inches of snow or more around the first of March. Thank goodness it does not stay around long.

GRAVITY just came out on DVD. I thought about getting it but decided I would wait. I have too many extra bills that come during the first of the year to buy any extra’s.

This time when I let the dogs out it was light. So I went out on the porch and slid my foot along the steps. Yes they had ice on them. It has not really rained or come down as ice but it is mist. So I have done everything I could think of to get prepared. Made sure all the flashlights worked, filled my oil lanters and have them sitting on my table. Also found the lighter and made sure it worked. Have the electric company number handy. I have to call because for some reason they will repair the lights across the street but mine are on a different transformer so they forget me. I have my phone and Kindels on charge. Now I need to wash my dishes even though there are not many.

My hot water tank is not working correctly. I noticed that the water was not getting hot for my dish water. Checked out the water heater and the green light was flashing. It flashed twice which means the temperature was too hot so it kicked off. Now I have to wait to see if it will heat the water back up now that is has cooled down. The water is not cold but not warm enough to take a shower.

Now it is sleeting. The dogs were out and started making a fuss to come in. When I let them in I could hear the ice hitting the ground. I have to sit out some mouse traps. I saw droppings as I was washing the dishes. So I had to wash everything that was on the counter. I knew I was not going to make it all winter without some coming in. Thank goodness I still have some.traps. I use the sticky kind. It seems everything hits at once.

It has been sleeting for almost an hour. Things are turning white. I am giving a narrative of the storm so when I fail to come back on you will know the electric is out. I will cook by my barbecue outdoor cooker. I can’t remember what they are called. It is gas but it is out in the weather. Grill…… This is the first time it has not been under cover.

The temperature has dropped 23 degrees in the last hour and a half. It was 60 F when we left for church and is now 37 F. It is not 10 AM yet and the freezing precipitation is still five hours away. We have a steady heavy mist coming down. If the temperature does drop to 32 F or below and the mist continues we will be in trouble.

It is meant to drop to 14 F tonight and 12 F tonight. We are headed over to turn my friend’s taps on to drip.

Lady Hawke I don’t think we ever experience such a precipitous drop in temperature!

I have just had a narrow escape from a disappointing purchase! When I logged on to Amazon I didn’t notice that the page was switched to my DS, but I did see a copy of Catching Fire with an unfamiliar image on the front, so I investigated. I discovered that this one was a special edition with 2 discs and hours of extras, costing £3 more than the version I had ordered yesterday. I moved to look at My Orders only to discover I was in the wrong account, so I swopped over and cancelled my £10 copy. I looked for the version with extras and couldn’t find it until I actually sought for it by name and discovered a list of variations. I was very careful to read through all the information very thoroughly to make sure of my facts before I clicked on another pre-order request. Fortunately Amazon are very laid back about this and they do at least gain financially.

Graymayne I always try to get the disc with the most extra’s. I usually have to get it in blu ray to get the most. That is why I did not buy GRAVITY yesterday. I wanted the blue ray with the most extra’s. Sometimes you have to order them instead of just getting them in the store.

Lady Hawke That is how it started for me today. First drop in temp. Then the mist type that left a glaze of ice over everything. Then the sleet that really covered road and yard. Now I am waiting on the snow to come.

I have put on a roast. I hope it can get done. I did forget to get carrots at the store but found a can of carrots that I can use. I rarely am without natural carrots but forgot that I used them all the last roast I fixed. It is funny. I was looking for a pound of bacon in the freezer when the roast literally fell into my hands. This will last longer than the bacon.

MM Good thinking to potpone your trip because of the snow and ice. Remember the roads won’t be cleared off as well as in the north. I think some of the ice has melted-not all but some. This might help when the snow comes for the tree limbs and electric lines.

You would think I was having company for dinner. I have made corn meal muffins and white beans as well as roast , potatoes, and carrots. I have fresh buttermilk to drink. I love these old fashion meals.

It is 33 F (.5555 C). It has taken all afternoon to drop the last few degrees. The rain is coming hard now.

We shopped for my MIL and my parents and delivered our purchases. Then, we went to the house to measure the kitchen cabinets for shelf paper. After looking at shelf paper I have determined what she had at the other house which she liked so much was actually a roll of wall paper. So, I think I’ll find a wall paper outlet and purchase a couple of rolls of discontinued paper or remnants.

I am going to fry chicken tonight at my daughter’s request. I also have some fresh asparagus.

I was out much longer today than I expected. I intended to spend much more time at home and I meant to make headway on the shelf paper. We went to early church which should have given us a quick start but we ended up making the drive across town to turn on the taps to drip. That took an hour and a half of our time. Then, we did the groceries for the grandparents and delivered them, all before we had a meal.

So, I came in and threw together a fast lunch, forget breakfast, and headed over to measure the shelves. Then, we made a fruitless attempt to purchase shelf paper. In the second store I had the epiphany that I wanted wall paper and not shelf paper. So, we finally came home and now I’m doing laundry and trying to finish melting the chicken.

The yard and driveway are covered with snow. I don;t know when it started as I was watching the Nascar Race.

My dinner was delicious. I have it put away in the fridge so I won’t forget to put it away. I rinsed the pans but not washed them yet. When I say rinsed, I mean I have scrubbed them to get all the food off. I never leave any dishes or pans sitting with food on them. I guess this comes from making sure they were clean in the dish washer because they would sit for several days before the washer would be full enough to run. That is probably why I had so many dishes or plates. I gave both my daughters complete sets when I down sized. I still have two sets because I had one set in the camper.
