Ironsos I love your remark about your Christmas card. I am still laughing.
Speaking of photos, what kind of arrangement are they at CC ? I tried to upload the photos there but could not find them after uploading. I can not seem to find anything there anymore.
Another cold morning today. The sun is shining. I think I will try to remember to take some photos when I go to the mailbox. It is suppose to snow again today but I do not remember how much they are predicting.
I was surprized at all the postings at the new castle. I did not think it had been that long since I was there.
Cool G: After clicking on photos your pictures showed up in photostream. This new site arrangement really takes
some getting used to.
The storm we are supposed to get have so far fizzled out here in Salt Lake City at least. Now supposed to
be nothing but rain through the weekend.
Last night I heard a group on a late-night interview show and I was immediately captivated by their sound. The trio of electric guitar, keyboard and female vocalist met at Nottingham University and write and compose all their output and perform under the name London Grammar. They can be found on You Tube and the song I heard last night was entitled Strong. The singer has the most glorious voice. The only grumble I have is that there seems to be a trend for writing baffling lyrics these days which is not an attitude of which I approve.
More rain and wind. More damage and flooding. There is an unfortunate street in town where the floodwater is contaminated by raw sewerage. Astonishingly horrible.
Daughter and I made a concoction today, involving broken up ginger biscuits mixed with melted butter, chocolate and golden syrup. After a couple of hours in the fridge, they are very very yummy!
Ironsos, lol, I have no idea WHAT my card has been doing all this time, but am glad you finally got it.
Graymayne, my DS and son are watching a recording of a programme shown last night. My ears pricked up when I heard there would be music from London Grammer; I await with interest!
MM, I have been worrying too…..
Graymayne, I agree about her voice. Both DS and son knew the song, so they are obviously getting airplay.
I’m sorry, have I really not posted? I’ve been reading but I suppose I haven’t had anything new to share. I’ve been more than a bit distracted. I worked Thursday and Friday and wished I wasn’t because I desperately needed to attend to issues involving the banking and purchase of the house.
We’ve had quite a frustrating time with getting my parent’s investments liquidated. It was supposed to have happened in two to three business days. I made the request on 1-29-14. So, all the money should have hit the account by Monday. Instead, we didn’t even start receiving phone calls that they had issues with my signature until Thursday. So, I have been running back and forth to the bank, resigning papers. I have my mother and father’s power of attorney. The lady at the bank knows I have their power of attorney. The investments companies insisted I resign and she notarize that she knows I have their power of attorney. The issue we have is that they did not contact us about having a problem with the paperwork until well after the date we expected the money to have arrived in the account. Even the lady at the bank feels the investment companies were trying to hold onto the money as long as possible. One of them contacted her about another issue earlier in the week and said nothing about having a problem with my signature. Then, they waiting another two days before calling me.
So, all this has put the purchase of the house on indefinite hold. We will never do business with these investment firms again. It will be late this next week or early the week after before anything is likely to happen.
COOLG, I did congratulate you at Facebook on the birth of your great grandchild.
We had a light snow during the night. We weren’t supposed to get anything but the snow spread a little further south than expected. It was enough to cover the roads and make everything white but it was almost all gone before midday.
The daughter complained of an earache yesterday morning but she had no fever, was actually running a lower than normal temperature, so I sent her to school. When I left the school where I was teaching I had a message from my DS that I would find her at home as she had come home sick. I had banking to deal with for my parents so I did not go home immediately, actually for several hours. I received a text from my daughter that she was running a fever. I still had more errands I had to run and when I arrived home I confirmed she had a fever. She knocked on my door during the night requesting more Tylenol. This morning she still had a fever and the sore ear.
We ended up at the doctor, driving on snowy, icy roads to get there. She has swollen lymph glands and a red throat. He believes she may have a light case of H1N1. He did test for strep. Neither my DS or I feel wonderful. So, once we arrived home we have been lying low.
My daughter made a special request for fried chicken for dinner tonight two days ago when we both felt like dealing with it. So, I am facing frying chicken. Right now I would settle for frozen pizza if I didn’t have to make it myself. The idea of the fried chicken isn’t unappealing. I just don’t feel like doing it.
My father has become more inclined to stay in the hospital bed instead of getting up. Mother requested a reading light as he has started asking her to come back and sit with him while he sleeps. She did not have sufficient light to read so she asked for a book light. So, that was one of the errands I had to run. While at the bookstore I hit the sale table I purchased a small stack of books for her. She is not seeing any TV in the evenings so I know she will be doing more reading than normal.
Lady Hawke Funny how companies are delighted to take your money but very reluctant to let it out of their sticky hands again. Please be sure to wear a hard hat before you start banging your head against any solid walls:)
Asti I gather that the music group started off by playing in pubs and clubs but before long were playing at festivals attended by thousands. At least one of their You Tube videos has had over a million hits.
LadyHawke – what a grand post. :)
We are under a snow storm warning. Not too bad but 3 – 4 inches expected. My daughter got caught behind a car crash in the highway. Traffic was at a complete stop. She was getting worried because her fuel was near empty. She was able to inch her way to an exit and head home. I was a worried mama.
Have I said I’m sick, sick of winter??
Expecting cooler temps and some rain during the upcoming week. I hope it does not turn into sleet or snow. ;)
Not much going on here. ;)
My daughter took her test for her Masters in Education. She will officially have a bachelors and a masters. One proud mama here. She will walk down the aisle in May to get her Masters diploma. YAYAY!!!
It took her a few years but with gentle pushing she has arrived. :)
I just saw the cutest Facebook listing. It is called "The most wanted “Man Tool” of the year—Worldstar Hip Hop" It could be great for people with snow and a lot of time on their hands.
Hugh fire just southeast of were I live. About 9 blocks away
I had something to say but after reading , I have forgotten what it was.
We were suppose to have more snow but I have no ideal how much. My truck windows are still clear so we might not have gotten any. The snow fall is funny around here. Sometimes it goes around us.
Ironsos It is getting close to time to renew our Norton. I got tired of the notice showing up so much so went ahead and ordered it online. I usually order it from amazon but it was just as cheap to download this year. I figured the post would have a hard time getting delivered with so much snow.
I need to do spring cleaning. I know it is not spring yet but the furnace has caused so much dust or something to fly in the air. It settles on things that are not at my eye level. Bridget has white fur. It gets on everything even though she is a short hair dog. If I am going to wear black pants, I have to wait until I am ready to go out the door before putting them on. Black is a magnet to her. She will come and brush up against me. I love her but it is such a pain.
I am so aggravated. I have been watching the Olympics. Yesterday was the finals for so many of the skating things. I fell asleep in the early program. I woke up and started watching the replay after 11:00 PM. I work up at 5 this morning. So I missed it all.
Lady Hawke I thought everything was coming together so quickly for purchasing a house. They usually give you a different closing date several times.
MM Congratulations to your daughter. Is she going to change her job now? Speaking of changing jobs makes me think of BookWorm Jen. Since she got her masters and changed jobs, we see less and less of her. I hope her life is so busy and happy that she just doesn’t have the time to stop by.
Things for NASCAR starts Thursday at 4:00 PM on Fox 1 with media day. Then Friday for practise etc and Saturday for the Bud Pole. Of course they are calling it something different this year.
I have already been off for three days, but today was the official first day of my fortnight off, and I spent it mainly on the settee with a book, and on the piano stool practising. Unfortunately, my music lesson was cancelled……..she’s ill!
Tomorrow I am going to make a start on Wolfie’s book.
Our poor oak tree has lost another branch. Torn strands of bark are flapping in the wind. We also lost another fence panel. Another storm is due to hit within the next 36 hours. The media is full of howls of protest against the government and The Environment Agency about how all this has been handled. Some of the flooded areas have been suffering since before Christmas, and each time it rains it gets worse. There really does seem to be a lack of help and interest from the authorities. When a good proportion of a County is issued with a warning that the flooding will pose a danger to life, you’d think there might be some concern………………
Lady Hawke, how are things?
My DS has been out with his camera this morning recording the progress of the flooding of our part of the River Severn. It has risen about eighteen inches since yesterday. Tomorrow we are in for more high winds plus rain and possible snow, but I am hoping the latter will be confined to the hills. The River Thames is now causing trouble by bursting its banks so the numbers of people affected by flooding will rise simply because of the higher population density in the south of England.
Hi all! I hope every stays safe through flood, snow, and ice. We’ve had quite a bit of snow over the past week and really cold weather, but we’re supposed to be in the 60s by Saturday. I’ll believe it when I feel it, but it’s nice to think about being outside and maybe getting some Vitamin D before my bones turn to dust.
In the voice of Yosemite Sam I have to say…“I hates spoons” (raisin bran and new shirt.)
Dr. Lew: Hope you get out and about soon.
Hope all the cross ponders stay dry.
There was a big yellow thing in the sky today!!
I made a chicken stew tonight with the remnants of Sunday’s roast, and homemade chicken stock. I made dumplings to go with it. I have never made dumplings before; I am not a huge fan, but these were quite nice, light and fluffy, and I was pleasantly surprised.
Ironsos, happy dribbling!!
LEW, how are you? xx
