Have no Idea why I posted that last comment. I guess it is my brain that is having the slow day.

Thanks Huff. Just what I need to get brain in gear.

Need to get groceries if I can remember where the store is.

Hunger Games fans might like to try out this site, my usual one has been very inactive lately.

The Halloween costume contest under Fan Creations was rather impressive.

Good evening!

I roasted a chicken tonight, and the carcass is bubbling away on the stove as we speak, making a stock that will be the base of a new soup I am trying tomorrow. Chicken and veggies, with warming Indian spices and butterbeans. I think there will be enough for Tuesday too.

My DS and son are watching the American Football…..firmly on the side of New England. Both are wearing their Brady football shirts. I like it when this happens………..I know some of you are watching exactly the same thing, at exactly the same moment, reacting to the same things, even if we are on different continents!

The owner of the house across the street brought the signed offer back tonight. So, we are on to continue with the process of purchasing the house. He has some work he still needs to do on the house before we are ready to get it inspected.

I have been home all day doing laundry and waiting, hoping, the man would show up. He finally arrived just past 7 PM.

Tomorrow is the Martin Luther King/Robert E. Lee holiday here. So, my daughter and I will probably go out to find something to entertain us.

ASTI, you actually almost made me want to watch a football game, just so I could be watching it simultaneously with you.

I had a lovely weekend. Saturday I went to the Park District banquet. It is amazing to see how many people know the DS for all his volunteer work with the park district. They all come to our table to say hello to him. LOL!

Yesterday we went to see our grand baby. We crawled around the floor with him. He is crawling and likes to climb the stairs. They now have gates for the bottom and top of the stairs. :) he is super funny and super fun to be with. I wish. I lived with him. :)

Today I’m off to have breakfast with my daughter. She is very sweet. She loves to cook us breakfast and invites us over. My MIL is coming along. While we are there the DS is going to install a new faucet in her kitchen. She wants a fancy one she fell in love with.

Did I mention that she bought a house with her BF but no sign of a ring yet?? I think I did but I’m not sure. It was back in November they closed on the house. It worries the DS a lot not seeing a ring yet but I keep telling him that it will come. They are committed to each other and get along. They have known each other since the 7th grade. So the DS has a savings for a wedding that he hopes is soon. LOL!

Aloha! ;)

I am home for King Day. We get Robert E Lee’s birthday with Thanksgiving because the legislature is in session and they won’t shut down the State Government for 2 holidays during session. As a result we get President’s Day with Christmas. ;)

If the salon is open, I need to get a haircut and we should go to Hobby Lobby to look at yarn. They have a better selection than Michael’s, but because they are closed on Sunday, it is more difficult for me to get there. ;)

Good evening!

It’s been a beautiful day here, glorious sunshine, and quite mild. I ate my sandwich in the churchyard, and shared some crumbs with a very friendly robin whom I have met before. There are snowdrops flowering too, which make me smile.

Tonight’s new soup was nice, though I am not sure it’s special enough to keep. I have so many recipes to try! It was warming and tasty, but if I was to make it again, I would add a potato to make it a bit thicker. The cumin, coriander and tumeric made it a sort of mulligatawny, but with so much ground spice, there was a slight powdery aftertaste. Maybe I should have toasted the spices a bit longer before I added the stock. But there is more than enough left for tomorrow, yay.

Deanie, are you doing anything new with your hair, or is it just a trim? Either way, I hope you like your new hair. I am screaming for a haircut, but it is going to have to wait a bit longer.

MM, it’s nice to hear about your weekend. And it’s LOVELY that you and your DS are so known and loved for all the work you do in your community.

Morning

It is really snowing here. The last snow was not melted befor this new one hits. I did not make it out to the store for this one. I did go out with my daughter Sunday to her house for a party. I was going to have her stop at the grocery on the way home but she worked a double on Saturday and had not gone to bed yet . I did not want to keep her up any longer than necessary. Yesterday the temp was in the 40’s but did not melt much of the snow. The roads on the main highways were clear but the roads out of the park were not clear. I just did not want to take a chance of sliding off the road. There are a couple of places that are really slick and known for sliding off the road. I will just eat from the freezer.

Won So glad you can eat now. Dentures are not your choice but a whole lot better than no teeth.

Just heard we are going to have more snow today. It is now -8 degree so how can it snow in these artic temp.? Must be going to warm up sometime before it snows. My storm door is now 3 inches from closing at the top and will not stay closed. I can use it to tell when the temp are really low. When it warms up again it will go back to it’s orginal shape. It is a good thing I do not use it as a regular door like I use to.

The dogs have went out and it did not take them long to want back in. It did not seem too cold downstairs for the temp.

My garage was 50 F (10 C) and most of my drive in was 21 F (-6.11 C). The parking deck was 18 F (-7.77 C). All except inside the garage at home with an even colder wind chill. Brrrrrrrrr. ;)

I will be leaving early to go to the Sleep Center for my CPAP supplies and to be fussed at for not using it enough. I think I need an appointment with the specialist to discuss treatment for my COPD. I suspect that and my chronic congestion are huge contributors to my CPAP problems. ;)

I am trying to thaw out. Today is trash day even though I doubt they will come by today. Since I did not get my trash out last week, I had to push my trash can out to the road today. While out I got the snow off of my truck. It is suppose to get cold tonight so the snow would probably freeze . By cold I mean -20 below plus or minus. As it was I had to break it up into clumps to get it off. My fingers are thawing out since they are stinging and my toes are stinging too. I was not out long. I did put my phone in my pocket in case I fell down and could not get up.

Good evening!

We managed some sunshine today, and my robin appeared immediately when I sat down on my bench with my sandwich. I think I have found a friend.

CoolG, I do hope you have defrosted by now. Take care, and I am glad you have a well stocked freezer.

Won, yay! It’s taken a while though, hasn’t it? Does this mean your face is now fully healed?

WON, so glad the new teeth must be a good fit and you can eat properly again.

It is cold here, not anywhere nearly as cold as COOLG or MM are having, just cold enough to be unpleasant.

I’ve done a couple of days with the parents. Now it is time to do a couple of days at the schools. I will have to be up at 5 AM looking for somewhere to go. I wouldn’t mind another teacher whose schedule allows me to leave at 12:42 PM. It is too bad you can’t see their schedule before accepting the job. I discovered there are some considerate teachers who offer their jobs and actually allow you to see you don’t have to be there until second block if they have first block as a planning period. I haven’t been so fortunate yet as to find one of those.

Won – Chiberia is still going strong. Today’s wind chills were -20. I am so done with winter. :( it’s messing with my afternoon at home. :(

Yesterday there was a HUGE fire in a factory two buildings from our school. We have close to 3,000 students and today we had to let them out through only one gate because the factory was still smoldering. We were bombarded with parent calls thanks to all the news media covering the fire. Many parents chose not to send their kids to school.

Then in all the chaos of dismissing students through only one side of the school .., a special education teacher and her aide made a huge mistake. They dismissed all their student through the side door including the door to door bussed students. These students were walking aimlessly through the streets. These are students who are mentally challenged and incapable of finding their way home. It was frigid and these kids were wandering the streets clueless.

As soon as the principal realized the mistake she called the police, the assistant principal drove through the neighborhood trying to spot them. Parents were notified. Even the bus started driving around looking for them. All three students were found thank God! One was by the library crying and looking around. (The principal found her.) the other was down several blocks from the school. (The bus driver found her.) the last one was picked up by the police and driven home. He at least knew his address.

We all breathed a huge sigh of relief when we found them all. I still don’t know HOW an intelligent person dismisses students without placing them into a bus like they do each and very day. Why would they think it was different? Why did they do this?? I have not been privy to their explanation but the principal was LIVID. :(

It’s kind of like letting a 3year old out the door and telling him find his way home. To top it all off it was frigid!! We have been experiencing incredibly cold weather. We were all so shocked and horrified to think they were in the street lost. I think it was the most tense we have ever been. We protect these students so much.

MM What a dreadful fright you had! Not everybody handles emergency situations well I’m afraid and fire is a terrifying element. I am so glad that your principal was able to rectify the error.

So far winter in the UK has been comparatively mild but the rainfall has been unusually heavy, leading to flooding, and coastal areas have been badly affected by exceptionally high tides due to high winds.

Cold here, but not as cold as where MM or Cool G are. It is supposed to be partly cloudy today. That means sort of mostly sunny. I parked on top of the deck so the car interior will be somewhat sun warmed when I go out to head home. I hope. ;)

Basically just a work lurk and place marker. ;)
