Lady Hawke, Yes you can get the Transisitons lenses in both line and noline bifocals. There are frame manufacurers that still make and sell the larger female frames, Europa is one of the ones that come to mind. Find an office that cathers to younger pt. they are usually larger and also will file Medicare for you. some of the higher end optical shops have a line of larger frames. The newer transisitions lenses do get darker faster and clearer faster, however they still don’t get that dark in a car. I have a question for you about hearing aids. Is there a model that will block or elemenate hissing noise in ears, not ringing but hissing?

MR DEANIE, whether it is ringing or hissing it is still called tinnitus. With tinnitus there are no “rules”. What works for one person may not work for another. There are “tinnitus blockers” that are not hearing aids. Once again, there is no guarantee if they would work for you or not. With hearing aid type products there is a 30 trial in which these items can be returned if you are not satisfied.

The problem about any sort of extraneous noise in the ears is the only way to eliminate it is to mask it with yet another noise. Even if it can be masked/covered you might or might not find the masking noise just as or even more annoying than the organic noise.

If your goal is to cancel the noise completely then you will likely get better results from some sort of medication meant to eliminate those symptoms. Once again what works for one person may or may not work for another. Extraneous ear noises are the bane of existence to hearing health care professionals. There are so many causes for tinnitus it is mind boggling to figure out what is causing it in any given individual. The primary goal when someone reports tinnitus is to rule out potentially dangerous health problems of which the tinnitus is a symptom. Living with tinnitus is secondary to making sure it isn’t heralding a health problem. So, it is a matter of try and try again to find a successful management option.

Thank you for your information about the frames. I know my mother is going to want something as close as possible to what she already has. I wonder if I can search Europa frames and see who carried them here.

Asti: Hope all works well in the DS’s new job.

LadyHawke: I have hissing and a wavering and a steady tone in my hearing. When I am doing something I hardly
notice it. If quiet I just deal with it. This is why I like to keep busy, even if just reading, all the time.

Squeee, thank you!
We were in a restaurant, celebrating his forthcoming birthday when the agency rang. It is more pressure and more change for him, and MORE financial wobbles as he settles in, but I think/hope/pray it will be ok. Certainly, we will be able to pay the bills, and the car is obviously a massive bonus.
The job does sound like it’ll be ok.

Also, I’m getting good at turning work around quickly. I’m used to shooting photos of a sports game, and having the photos edited and published the same night, as well as writing up a story of the game at the same time :P

Good evening!

Thanks for all the wellwishes. I am more than aware that you have had to put up with me being stressed and unhappy over the last few months, and I thank you for your forebearance! I really hope this works out.

Another good day today. I took my daughter on the open topped bus tour around the area where we live. It’s an all day ticket, you can hop on and off wherever you like to explore. the buses run through every hour, so you can fit a lot in! We had a LOT of fun. We were out of the house from 8.30am ‘til almost 6, and I think we’ll both sleep well tonight!

ASTI, that sounds fun, doing a double decker bus and hopping off and on somewhere that it is not excruciatingly hot. I just found my previous post. After coming in from lunch we ended up going back out to the local warehouse store to bring in paper products. Now I’m hot and tired and anywhere more temperate seems like a very good idea.

IRONSOS, I think you should get an AC. There are portable ones you can roll around and vent out a window. I can’t imagine your hotel does not have AC. What do they do with “guests” who are not residents? People from other parts of the country assume there is going to be AC in the summer. Also, dare I say it, as you get older and you have more health problems it is not good to be in such sweltering heat.

Lady Hawke: I hate AC. Swamp coolers work here most of the time and I hate them worse.
The Hotel has AC in every room. When I moved in in Oct. I had them take my machine out.
I am very comfortable with just a fan. Never had one in my other apt. either. Always seemed
to have a lot of colds and chest congestion when in a smaller place that has AC/swamp cooler.
No problem sleeping. I have screens for the windows. Have been this way all my life. Even when
I lived back east with all the humidity It was the same way.

It has been very busy at work. On Tuesday I worked till 10:00pm. I am so grateful for the three day weekend.

My grandson is getting so big. He is 4 months old now and he is the cutest baby. He smiles and laughs so much. I go see him at least twice a week. I wish thy lived a little closer to me. But I will take what I can get. :)

Asti good news!

MM Hello there, it’s nice to see you. I’m glad to hear that your grandson is thriving.

Lady Hawke I was thinking yesterday that your daughter’s health with regard to her breathing seems to have improved. I remember that I did a similar thing after entering my teens

IRONSOS, I didn’t know what a swamp cooler was. I had to look it up. It seems they are used primarily out west so I was unaware of them. I guess if I’ve seen one while traveling I just thought it was an AC.

We are headed out to see the IMMORTAL INSTRUMENTS movie. KOREY saw it last week and was disappointed about how far it digressed from the books. So, I know I am going to be coming home with an angry girl. I wonder why we have to go see something that is going to make her so upset.

Lady Hawke: Swamp coolers are very popular due to their low cost and easy do-it-yourself
maintenance. You just need to live in an area with low humidity for them to work properly.
Evaporative coolers is also an often name for them.

Good evening.

Had a quiet day today. DS and son had a golf comp……..it was my son’s 7th round of golf in 8 days! That’s a LOT of walking, lol. Daughter and I had a reading day.

Tomorrow is my DS’s birthday. He has been on holiday for the last week, ferrying son to all these golf comps, and is off tomorrow, but it’s not going to be much of a fun day. The lease company come to collect the car in the morning, and he is also going to hand in his notice. He thinks he’ll be put on Garden Leave rather than work out his week. A colleague currently has his works van, containing his tools and all his paperwork, so he has to try and reach him to get it all back.
I have to work, but I am cooking roast beef for our tea, which will make him happy! I also have a few little gifts for him, which he is not expecting. I gave him money to pay towards all the golf, but I have a few inexpensive bits for him to open. The last few months have been no fun for him either.

Graymayne, I very much like the idea of JK waking up on September 1st with a happy smile on her face.

I have only read the first two of the Mortal Instruments books and it has been long enough that I don’t remember all the details. My overwhelming response to the movie was that it was just WRONG. The only character that strongly resembled the book character was the female lead. The other characters just felt off the mark, as if they and the screen writers did not have a firm grasp of their characters. Many of the characters are witty and/or sarcastic. The dialogue was flat. I don’t know why they wouldn’t have used the actual dialogue from the book when applicable. OH YES… it was almost never applicable. The plot was off too, our of order, disoriented and in the last 30 to 45 minutes completely and totally made up, bearing no resemblance to anything that happens in the book. I agree with KOREY. I really have no idea how they will carry on with a second movie that in any way resembles what goes on in the second book. We came home and started listening to the first book while working on a puzzle.
