We are headed home today. It will be a long drive so we’ll be pretty tired by the time we reach home. I’m the only one awake at 7:30 AM. I guess I’m dreading having to get everything out of the room, into the car and the drive. No more festivity.

KOREY, I left COS at home since I was almost finished and didn’t want to take up space with a book that was not going to serve me the whole trip. As it turns out I have only read four pages of the book I did bring. Whenever I have been in the room I have been online trying to figure out where we were going next, eating next and how to get there.

Thanks, everyone! I appreciate all the congratulations and well-wishes! We are over the moon and I can’t stop grinning (and looking at my shiny new ring).

LH, tell your daughter thanks! My mom still doesn’t know about the move, but it should definitely go over better now. I just couldn’t tell them when I was home – we didn’t get engaged until late Saturday night and I didn’t want to overwhelm them right as we were leaving town.

Won, it actually crossed my mind as well that I’m the first Leaky engagement. Which seems weird – we’ve been here a long time…

Korey, I’m listening to the books, but I’m actually on GoF.

Morning

Congratulations Laura. Such good news.

Lady Hawke At least you planned ahead and had two Queen Size beds. My brother only had a couch that made into a bed. The first night I just made up the couch unopened thinking it would save room. Too late I realized the couch was too short even for me to be comfortable. The next night I fell asleep early. When I woke up all the lights were out so I suffered thru the short couch again without opening up. I missed the room I shared with my other brother the last time we went to TN. We made better roommates. Unfortunately he was in an urn this time.

My brothers and myself were all together this weekend. A lot of pictures were taken of us including us standing beside the memorial table for my brother. Usually there is at least one of us missing for pictures. We all went to Norris Dam and each had a solo cup with my brother’s ashes that we used to toss his ashes into the river. I came home with the empty urn. Don’t know how long I will have it. My younger brother and myself will share keeping it like we did when my brother’s ashes were in it. It was sad but a joyful occasion that we were able to spread his ashes where he wanted.

When I got back home my daughter Jennifer had a surprise. She had weed eated the front, side, and back yardl. The back yard had weeds really high because I have not been able to weed it or mow all year. She also cleaned out my rose and flower bed and trimed the lower tree branches. We built a fense to cover the opening that went into the play yard for next door. We had been meaning to do this ever since my house next door was sold but kept putting it off. We just have another section at the back to build then the dogs will be able to have more room to run. This part of my fense was destroyed when the water company put in new sewer lines. They just left my fense knocked down.

Korey I’m afraid I got sidetracked by Jo’s new book, so I’m not finished. I have a new book arriving on August 8th which is the last book in a quintet and I need to read the fourth book which I couldn’t face finishing until book 5 was in my hands. I also want to re-read A Discovery of Witches so I think I need to drop out at this point. So much to read and so little time!

The Family Channel had a HP Marathon . They showed them all except DH Part 2. I watched them all even though I have them on DVD. I don’t remember where I am in the reading since I got distracted by other books. Strange but this watching was the first time that I actually liked the Order of the Phonix. I guess it has been so long since I read the book that I could appreciate the movie.

Summer day summer shower.

Had to send both pair of trousers back to amazon. All my trousers of a particular size that I own fit just fine.
The ones of the same size I got from amazon are at least two inches to small. Returning them was no problem.

Ironsos Do they really fit or have you stretched them out as you have increased in girth? Did you actually compare your current measurements to the provided size chart? Was there, indeed, a provided size chart? Just wondering. ;)

Aloha!! ;)

Well yesterday was the first day of school in the county in which I reside, and 3 schools near my house were on lockdown for part of the morning. It seeme there were gunshots heard. The police picked up 2 men who were illegally dove hunting near the schools. The fun just never ends! ;)

I am home, sitting here, knowing I need to do laundry, but I don’t want to do laundry. I am tired and school starts in two days. I want to do something easy and fun or nothing at all.

DR LEW, you know we want the whole story on where you were when he asked you and how he asked you.

My DS flew me to Dallas on Christmas Eve. He picked me up at the airport and took me to the Mustang Fountain in Las Calinas, all lit up at night. He had no idea but I had wanted to see that fountain for years. So, when he pulled up in front of the fountain I shoved the door open and bolted for the fountain. I was so excited over the horses. He had to let me get over my excitement about the fountain so he could get me to stand still so he could go down on his knee. He gave me a temporary “holder” ring and we went the day after Christmas and I chose my real ring.

Here is a link to The Mustangs of Las Calinas if you don’t know what I’m talking about.

Does anyone have a proposal story to tell?

My husband doesn’t have a romantic bone in his body. :) He was looking at his bank account one day and leaned back in a chair and said ‘well, I guess we can go pick out your ring now’. I thought it was neat that he didn’t have to ask – he knew I’d say yes.

Lady Hawke That was a very romantic proposal. Fabulous art work and I was proud to learn that they were cast in a foundry in Britain.

Deanie: There was a size chart. I had bought a pair of another brand just a couple weeks ago and they
fit with a little, not much but a little, room to spare. The ones I got yesterday were not even close. I have
a few pair that are well stretched with age. Some are over ten years old.

So I told my mom this morning (over the phone, of course) that my BF…er, fiance… had moved in together. Good news: I’m still alive! She was getting ready to mail me some stuff, so I had to fess-up. She actually said that she had suspected there was cohabitation going on and acknowledged that it was a different time than when she was younger. She did say, however, that she was not going to mention it to my father… ;)

Other than that, my mom has wasted no time at all jumping on the wedding planning wagon. I think I’m running out of cell phone minutes already!

DR LEW, good move on your mother’s part. If she told him your father would either kill the fiancé or die himself, maybe both. Are you planning for a wedding in your hometown or where you are now?

We went out to a pottery painting place today. Instead of painting a formed piece with figures you are supposed to paint my daughter chose to do a free hand Cheshire Cat on a platter. The shop owner was quite helpful and came over to demonstrate painting techniques to best complement what she had drawn. We have been going in there for years and this time we had some special attention. I think he was impressed and was talking directly to her and not to me.

CONGRATULATIONS DR. LEW!!!

This is our first Leaky engagement. I feel sooo poud, I think you are my daughter’s age if not really close to it. I am very excited for you. :)

I am relaxing and enjoying my “back to my normal routine” life. Having my mother in law here was very tiring with all the extra work. I enjoy sitting and eating dinner, watching my favorite shows and just plain being lazy at home without worrying about guests. LOL! :)

GUESS WHAT… I heard from senior clerk’s office. Apparently she was written up for refusing to buzz open the door for a teacher because it was not her work hours. aaargh. :( I heard this from the head secretary under hush, hush orders. :/ it’s just one push of a button for Pete’s sake!!!

If you remember she did that to me too. It’s so unbelievable to me that she is still doing this crap after all the write ups she received in our office. She will never be fired and she knows it. :( I’m just glad she is not in my office and it will not be our turn for several years. I’m hoping that the administration decides that we complained too much and it is best she never returns. :(
Keep your fingers crossed. At least I know my office is set till June.
