“I whine therefor I am”. My motto #2, Motto #1 is " In spite of em"

Just read an article about a Krispy Kream sloppy joe sandwich. Glazed donut with sloppy joe and cheese topped filling.
I must admit that this actually sounds pretty good.

Not so bad really.

There’s no official nutritional data for Boghosian’s creation, of course. But according to Krispy Kreme’s website, a single glazed yeast doughnut has 200 calories and 12 grams of fat, and nutrition calculators like Myfitnesspal.com put a home-made Hunt’s Manwich-type sloppy joe at about 300 calories and 7 grams of fat. So the Krispy Kreme Sloppy Joe hybrid probably clocks in at about 500 calories, and 19 or so grams of fat; the sprinkle of cheddar cheese on top would add another 28 calories

The above is from the article in “Yahoo Shine”

In the last couple of weeks I’ve seen all sorts of sandwiches advertised as being served between a glazed doughnut. I will not be standing in line for any of them.

We submitted a counter offer to the potential buyers, offering to pay 2/3 of the closing costs but not all of it. So, now we will wait. The realtor said the neighbor house has only shown because our house was on the market. He said people lined up to see it and then went across the street to see the neighbor house. If we make the sale that may be the end of the action for the neighbor house. Maybe they will have an offer too.

Houses show the most often when they are newly on the market so we think it is best to let it go while it is “hot”. Otherwise, we could end up languishing like the one across the street.

I have come home and made a quick easy chili. I can live off of it this week. It will take the pressure off me. If we suddenly have to leave town I can put it in the freezer and have it for another time.

Hey guys there is a new racer to watch. He’s Jeb Burton, Ward’s son. He has done good so far this year and won at Texas. Between him and the Dillon boys a new generation is growing up to watch in racing.

I have cat fish baking for supper. I couldn’t think what to eat. Cat fish is always a good choice.

I need to read more of SS. I got ahead so stopped over the week end. I did not want to finish it too quickly.

Won Can they replant your teeth or were they destroyed? Gee they were probably destroyed. At least now they can replace teeth permanently instead of just a partial. Sometimes you wonder what next can happen.

Mr. Deanie Jeb Burton and Ty Dillion race in the truck series. Austin Dillion races in Nationwide. I think this is the second season that Jeb Burton has raced but he did not have enough funding last season. I kept hearing the announcers say Jeb Burton but I thought they were saying Jeff. I knew Jeff had girls but did not think about Ward. Anyway I finally got tired of not knowing if Jeb was related to the Burton’s that raced so looked him up. He reminds me of a young Junior in looks and talk. Not close up but from a distance.

Both Ty and Austin run the # 3 on their car and truck. I don’t know if Austin will replace Kevin Harvick when he leaves next year. He has drove a time or two in the cup series but not sure if he is ready to move up. I think when Austin moves up to Cup racing, the # 3 will move up with him. I am OK with Richard Childress’s grandson running the # 3 but don’t know how other Earnhardt fans will react. Of course if they follow all three series, it will not come as a shock. After all the number has got to eventually be used or Childress will lose it. It has not been retired from Nascar.

Speaking of mowing grass, I just finished mowing mine. Too bad my grandson has not weed eat my back yard. I am not trying to mow it until it has been done. The last time I tried, I got something stuck in the mower. At least I did not have to mow part of next door today. Since it is no longer mine, I am not keeping the front mowed. It is now someone else’s worry.

Good evening!

My daughter brushed against a hedge whilst playing, and got a thorn stuck in her thigh. She seems to be reacting quite badly to it; the skin around the wound is red and inflamed and bumpy. It was only a tiny thorn. I washed it well and put on some antiseptic cream.

My iPhone is on it’s way! Must admit to feeling a little bit like a 6 year old at Christmas. I can’t wait! In the meantime, I am without a phone. I am on a Pay As You Go, am down to 94p credit, and am not paying another £10 to top up!

Won, how are you? We need an update!

This seems to be the peak week for mimosa trees. Last week a few were starting to bloom. This week most of them have burst into bloom and next week the stragglers will start blooming. They will probably hang on for about two weeks then start fading and the blooms will start falling. Soon the seed pods will form and they will fall off in late-ish autumn, after the leaves all drop off. But this week they are beautiful and bright and all feathery-whispy! ;)

ASTI, I fell into some miniature holly bushes when I missed a ball while playing as a child. I had bright pink raised welts along each scratch. She is probably just very allergic to whatever kind of hedge it is. I think it will improve with antiseptic cream and maybe so antihistamine cream as well.

I will add a call out to WON. Please let us know how you are as soon as you can.

Hello everyone… I am back home. I needed facial reconstruction on my left cheekbone & maxilla. The teeth are lost permanently. I will be eating thru a straw for 3 to 4 weeks… Looks like I will be losing a few pounds! :+/ The guy who’s car the bike was on had insufficient insurance for this situation. Soooo, I am going to be responsible for a minimum of 20% of the total medical bill. I will have to sue to make any kind of recovery of the money! Since this is all “cosmetic” stuff, I am going to end up taking a serious bath financially it seems. Other than that I ain’t got no problems… How bout’ you??? lool…

That is incredible. You’ve lost teeth and it is not elective cosmetic surgery. It is not as if you just decided to get your “nose done”. You have been injured through no fault of your own. You can’t live that way, walking around with a crushed face and no teeth.

Won_Two I am horrified that a law-abiding citizen can be injured by someone in this way and end up having to fund his medical bills a. because the cause of the mayhem had inadequate insurance cover and b. the law defines vital medical repair as “cosmetic”! There is something seriously wrong here. Will the bike owner be prosecuted for having a “dangerous load”?

Good evening!

It’s been another one of THOSE days. Daughter had a birthday party to go to this afternoon……I’d managed to arrange a lift for her, as I was working. Just as I finished work, my DS rang. He was stuck in traffic 40 miles away, and wouldn’t be home in time to collect her. There was no point my going home, so I had to hang around in town until it was time to pick her up.
My iPhone arrived, but the screen is slightly damaged. I’ll have to phone up in the morning to arrange to send it back and get a replacement. I have been really impressed by their customer service so far……..we only ordered them on Sunday evening and they arrived this morning. Hopefully they’ll be as good now I have a problem.
Daughter is supposed to have her Sports Day tomorrow. She’s running in the 600m race. I am 90% sure it will be called off. It has been drizzling for the last two days, and the grass is going to be soaking. No sun is forecast for tomorrow.

Won, I agree with Graymayne. It is astonishing that you are financially responsible for this. The other guy caused the injuries. Whether or not he has sufficient insurance, HE should be liable for the bill.

Harriett, hello!

Lady Hawke, I am officially A Dreadful Mother. I had completely forgotton about daughter’s leg until I read your post! She made no mention of it, so I assume it is ok. Eeek.

ASTI, I already said on Facebook but I am disappointed for you about your new phone. I am eagerly anticipating my larger screen when our contract runs out.

It has been very hot here, too hot for mid June. Along with everything else that has been going on I am completely bereft of any motivation. It was extremely difficult to go and drag around the grocery store. My mother was almost frantic before we were finished. So was I.

I want to go somewhere that does involve a funeral and crying or a doctor’s office and boredom.

I have confused myself. Professor Quirrell tries to steal the Philosopher’s Stone from Gringotts the same day Hagrid and Harry visit and Hagrid empties the vault. So, it would appear he is under the influence of Voldemort when he first meets Harry but he can shakes Harry’s hand to no ill effect. As we have discussed there is no mention of the turban.

I know we have talked about this before and the problem has been solved but I don’t remember how we resolved it. If Quirrell attempts to rob Gringotts that day how do we explain that he could shake Harry’s hand?

Also, it has always bothered me they went to the third floor corridor to enter the door behind which they find Fluffy guarding a trap door. That means they have to jump through the second, first and basement floors to be “miles under the school”. I have always wondered what was on those lower floors that no one missed the space.

SS/PS and CoS both end up with the climax between Harry and Voldemort in the bowels of Hogwarts under the school.

Lady Hawke Quirrell met Voldemort abroad and brought him back to England and presumably nursed him. Quirrell was acting on instructions when he went alone to Gringotts to steal the Philosopher’s Stone. Voldemort took over his body after Quirrell came back empty handed sometime between the attempted robbery and the start of the school term, and from that point on Quirell had to wear a turban to conceal the face. The book never tells us that Quirrell died of his burns, but Dumbledore says that he pulled Quirrell off Harry just as he was about to pass out. However he does speculate that Voldemort is “somewhere out there, looking for another body to inhabit.” Unfortunately the film action has confused our proper recall of the books.

I had never considered the length of the drop through the trapdoor, but you can see the need of the Devil’s Snare plant at the bottom. We do have to remember that this is a magical building with constantly moving staircases and a Room of Requirement which changes according to need. Logic is irrelevant under these circumstances.

I suppose that is one of the parts that has also always confused me. How would Quirrell have transported a thing without a body back to England to nurse it unless he allowed it to take over the body before he returned to England. How would have have transported much less nursed a thing with no body?

Whatever it is we see in GoF in the grave yard before Wormtail takes Harry’s blood would have been incapable of escaping Godric’s Hollow. So, would the thing under the bench in King’s Cross.

I hope we hear from MM and COOLG soon. There have been terrible storms running through their states. At this point MUGGLETRISH is under fire. It will be heading at WON later in the day. I don’t know if JEN is expecting it or not.

Lady Hawke I seem to remember hints that Voldemort would inhabit low creatures like rats. I have never found accounts of how he could have encountered and influenced Quirrell, but we mustn’t forget the skills he employed with Harry’s mind in order to lure him to the Ministry of Magic and access the prophecy globe. I think it is a case of “when in doubt invoke magic as the means.”

Perhaps Quirrell transported a snake that Voldemort was inhabiting. With the various transportation options available to wizards and not having to declare anything through Customs, Voldemort could have been possessing almost any small animal. I GoF he does say that he found he could occupy any animal that would allow it , but snakes were easier. Maybe that’s how Nagini got to England. ;)

Won I am upset to read that the facial surgery is being classified as “cosmetic”. Exactly who is calling it that, your auto insurance your, your health insurance, his insurance, the doctors or his lawyers? If it is the doctors, fuss until they redefine it. If it is either insurance company, contact your State Insurance Administration office, Consumers Services and file a complaint. Immediately! I have looked it up and you can file the complaint online, so you do not have to be able to speak. They are there to assist you, use them! Lecture over. ;)

Lady Hawke I was also wondering how much older than Petunia was Vernon. I know he was the director of Grunnings, but it seems to be a bit of a dead-end job. I am sure he got pay increases, but the job remained the same through all the books. At the start of SS/PS Petunia could not have been over 25 and I think she was closer to 23, so was Vernon 30 or 24? Whatever, he was already pretty stuffy. I wonder why. ;)

Of course, considering his sister, I think there must have been some serious disfunction in his family as he was growing up. ;)

Off to take my mother to her pre-surgery work up.

IRONSOS, how many trips did you make to the place that did your cataracts for each eye.

We had the appointment two weeks ago, this pre-surgical one today, surgery on Wednesday, a recheck on Thursday, another recheck the next Thursday, surgery three weeks after the first one on a Wednesday, a recheck on Thursday and another recheck a week later on the next Thursday. Then, we will have to go for new glasses. Did you have this many visits to the doctor when you had your eyes done?

DEANIE, in my mind Vernon was always an old man, even though I know he couldn’t have been. I can’t imagine he was over 30, certainly not over 40 when Harry showed up on their doorstep, but he always acted as if he was already a cranky senior citizen.
