I was just thinking the year is close to being half over. I’ve been so busy since Christmas and my parent’s decision to move everything has been a blur. In some ways it has been painfully long but I had not really recognized we have reached the brink of June and the end of June means half the year has passed.
Doing laudry. We have decided to put off “fun”. Even our daughter is feeling sluggish and not equal to the task of an outing. Today seems to be a quiet, sleepy, slow day.
Graymayne I hope your aniversary dinner went well. Now have you already posted about it? I think you did on the previous page.
The sun came out for a little while this morning. By the time I changed to work clothes, got the lawnmower out, gas it up and put oil in it the sun had disappeared. I decided to try to get the lawn mowed anyway but only managed to get inside the fense done. It started pouring rain. By the time I got the lawnmower put away, I was soaked.
Since it is suppose to rain all day tomorrow too, I won’t be going any where. I never know if my windshield wipers will be working so I never go anywhere when it is raining or looks like rain.
I had a lovely birthday yesterday. It’s half term, so both offspring were here, and my DS too. It was lovely to spend the day together. The meal was really nice.
Then reality fought back….. I worked overtime today!
My daughter is quite excited. She posted a story on a fanfiction website about 4 PM yesterday and has already had over 130 readers. She has even had eight people mark her as a “favorite” author. She has had people encouraging her to post a second chapter. So, she is becoming motivated to get ahead of her “readership”.
ASTI, I am glad you didn’t have to work on your birthday. I was afraid you would have to as you were off the day before to go to your author meeting.
CoolG I haven’t posted about our lunch in detail yet because my DS didn’t have his camera. I took a couple of shots of my dishes on my phone, but the battery is flat and I have to transfer the photos via Bluetooth tomorrow. I have posted a couple of jewellery photos to be going on with, but the post I wrote wasn’t handled properly. Very irritating. I have spoken about them on here though.
My DS is attending a ukulele get-together this weekend and hoping for good weather for the camping. He attended our medical centre for a follow-up chat on the tests results, blood and Xray. All seems to be well but he is to go back onto statins because his cholesterol is raised. He is to have a further blood test to check for diabetes.
Asti Thanks for the photo of Joe in Forks:)
Hunger Games fan please note: www.catchingfiremovie.org have a fascinating news item today. It is a fashion in Panem style magazine with the most amazing over-the-top photos. I thought it was a very stylish take-off of the more extreme fashion magazines we have today. Well worth a wander.
GRAYMAYNE, thanks, I’ll check your link. It made me think about The Katniss Chronicles and when I checked they have a schedule up. They start on June 25 and finish on Oct. 29. http://www.thekatnisschronicles.com/index.php/episodes
There are multiple tornadoes on the ground in Oklahoma City, some of them very near the area that was devastated last week. We won’t be able to see how much damage there is until light tomorrow.
For any Trekies out there other than me: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OIkgcWtK_rQ&list=PL57enisU2h9zYtpA7UE3BN6USKLPPvC3U&index=1
LadyHawke – I would love to read LittleHawke’s fanfic. :)
Asti happy belated birthday and Happy Anniversary to Mr. and Mrs. Graymayne.
The end of the year is such a blur. I missed saying congratulations. I’m so sorry.
Is Mr. Deanie really talking about Christmas?? Already? :(
JOE. RHIANNON and the LEMON family are up at 6:30 AM and headed out the door for a day in Seattle.
Here is her post from Facebook with the names changed to our Leaky handles.
“It is 6:30 AM and we are up and about to head out the door to pick up RHIANNON on our way to Seattle with WOLFIE and the family. Everyone is a bit shellshocked to be up this early, I think, but so far cheerful enough. Fingers crossed for good weather, no traffic, easy parking, and good times at Pike Place Market, the waterfront, Seattle Center and other points of interest.”
They went to the Mt. St. Helen observatory yesterday. Mt. St. Helens is a recently active volcano on the US mainland. It blew its lid quite spectacularly, killing people, and scorching the earth on May 18, 1980. We were getting ready to leave the house for my high school graduation as it began erupting and it continued all day throughout my post graduation celebration. We were leaving on a vacation three days later and it was all my mother and I could do to keep my father from driving toward that volcano. He desperately wanted to go and see the aftermath of the first eruption and the ongoing eruptions which continued until 1986. If he could have been there in time for the first eruption we would have been dead. He always had an affinity for natural disasters and we would have been too close.
If you are unfamiliar with Mt. St. Helens you might find this interesting.
The three LEMON children, all of whom are at or approaching 6 ft (1.83m) in height are squished into the far back seat of the LEMON van. MR. LEMON is in a seat in the second row. I can’t tell if JOE is seated behind the driver’s seat or if she is in the front passenger seat but they are picking up RHIANNON. So, RHIANNON and JOE are occupying the seat next to and behind the driver. I just can’t tell who is where from the photo.
P.S. The Mount St. Helen’s eruption is very familiar, it had a lot of coverage in the UK.
I have not read the fanfiction yet but my daughter did give me the links.
Upon first glance I can tell you it is in need of much editing. My daughter is angst ridden, realizing how much editing is needed,
and that she did not give us the opportunity to look at it before she clicked Submit.
It is a fanfiction based on “The Rise of the Guardians” movie, not the book. I think the book had a different title.
There is a practice on this fanfiction website of the author having a bit of silly, humorous conversation with their characters before getting down to business. I have been instructed to ignore those portions entirely.
The LEMONS are kindly posting many photos of their day in Seattle. Most of the group, minus LEMON and son, have gone up in the Space Needle. LEMON and son are chickens or extremely savvy at not wanting to go up in a very high elevator on a very tall pole with WOLFIE. It could be disaster in the making.
They have been drinking lovely Seattle coffee and eating pastries while shopping.
COOLG appears to have gone to the wedding anyway. She has posted a wedding photo on Facebook. The storms that tore through Oklahoma last night are approaching this area now and extending up through COOLG’s area. I wish she was not out on the road by herself, especially in bad weather.
I can hear the rumbling of the storm in the distance.
I hope that CoolG and Deanie’s relatives in Oklahoma will be safe in the dreadful storms you are experiencing. Take care everyone.
Two pics at CC.
It’s gone midnight here, and I MUST go to bed. I worked today, so I’ve been up since 6. I don’t really have any news, I just wanted to say hello.
My DS is going to be away all week on a training course. He leaves tomorrow mid afternoon, and will be back at goodness knows when o’clock on Friday night. He is playing in a golf comp on Saturday, so since my presence is therefore unnecessary, I have agreed to work overtime.
CoolG, I saw the wedding photo. I hope you had a great time, and stay safe, xx
Thank you, MM!
I wonder If they stopped to have French dip while at the Space needle. I used to get it
when I was stationed in Seattle for a short time.
We just returned from a very wet soccer game. At one point it was poring buckets literally. The game was stopped so the monsoon would pass. We lost 1-0 at the very last minute. Poor wet girls.
Ironsos Wolfie is a vegetarian, French Dip really isn’t something she would appreciate. However you might be interested in a naughty sandwich I made yesterday. I was preparing to make a bacon sandwich when I spotted some bacon fat in the bottom of the grill pan. I rescued this and put it into a frying pan and added some butter to it, heated it, and added my sandwich slices, one at a time, inside surface down and fried them until medium browned. In the meantime I was grilling my single rasher and adding the run-off fat to the fryingpan. The bread was ready shortly before the bacon so the half-fried bread slices had time to cool a little before I snipped the cooked rasher into smallish pieces straight onto the fried surface of one slice, added a few drops of tomato sauce then covered it with the fried second side to make a sandwich. It felt very odd to hold but the taste was delicious, and only moderately naughty.
Lemon has not failed us and has posted oddles of pic. I think someone should transfer them to CC for Graymayne to see.
Yes I went to the wedding with my daughter. While she went to Church that evening, I spent the time at my brother’s. The picture I posted was of the Groom’s family that flew in from Florida for the wedding. I asked their permission to post their picture to FB. I wanted MM to see . She reminded me of her daughter but her hair color made me think of MM. I had a good time. It really was nice for a backyard wedding. They were prepared for the rain because the reception was held in the barn where my brother has his parties. They had oddles of food left over because several did not make it because of the rain. It was an all day event because it was after 1 AM before we made it home. As my brother and I were watching the kids play, we realized that we had officialy became the older generation.
I have just waved of my husband, and I am feeling a little lost. This will be the longest we have been apart since we met.
COOLG, thank you for posting early. I was worried about you driving to the wedding and back again in the bad weather. I’m glad you had a good time. During the two funerals I have recently attended I have recognized I am a hair breath away from becoming the older generation. My parents and my uncle’s widow are the only three of the older generation left. Once they are gone my cousins will be the next up. Even though I am the baby of that generation I am part of them. Some of my cousins did have children who are considerably older than me by up to almost twenty years.
We just received word that my aunt, the widow of my uncle who passed away in November, had a stroke this morning and has been taken to the hospital in an ambulance. It has affected her left side and she cannot see. She has been moving from child to grandchild since November. One of her grandsons has been in town this week, helping her sort out her house. So, she has been staying at home with him while they have gone through the house. At some point this morning she had the stroke and he had to call an ambulance.
ASTI, I was separated from my DS when he had to go out of town for nine months when we had been married two years. During that time he came home every three weekends or I was flown to him instead. His mother was living with us at the time and we did not do well together. We spent the entire nine months locked in our respective bedrooms. When each of us came in the apartment we would grab whatever we needed from the kitchen and head straight upstairs to our rooms and close the door. We each had televisions and bathrooms and we never came out of the rooms once we went in. The few upsides to having a missing husband is having complete control over the television and having what you want for dinner.
My DS just phoned, he’s got there safely, but there is no wifi, and only a very low phone signal. He appears to be in a B and B in the middle of nowhere.
