Hit 93F(33.9C) today. A new record for date. No rain and supposed to get seasonable by end of week.

I’m beginning to worry. We know MM is ill and she doesn’t come here often anyway.

Where is ASTI? It has been too long since we heard from her.

DEANIE, I’m not seeing any avatars either. I always come in through my history so I haven’t even tried the “front door” in a long time.

Maybe ASTI can’t get in but I haven’t seen anything from her on Facebook either. So, I’m worried.

Melissa has posted a ‘heads up’ that some major rework & changes were coming to Leaky this week… I guess it is underway. Lets all hope for a good outcome!

Have very few bills but I still feel drained after paying them. The only advantage to a fixed income is that
it makes it easy to budget money.

I’m up to shopping day.

My daughter had her reading test yesterday. They started about 8:30 AM and she was finished at 11 AM. She was allowed to read until a principal showed up at the door and told her teacher that they were not allowed to read when finished. (She had been instructed to bring at least two fiction books for that purpose.) So, she had to sit upright at her desk with nothing to do until everyone was finished at 2 PM. I asked her if she would have kept the test for something to do if she had known they weren’t going to allow her to read. She said she wouldn’t because she had already rechecked her work several times.

She faces two more days of this. She will probably finish the English test early as well but she will be holding onto the math test much longer.

I will be glad to get through these last few days. It will be good to have a break.

Lady Hawke Congratulations!! I think you have not made the comment that you could feel your face melting because of Little Hawke’s homework at all this entire school year!! That is a landmark. I am glad that aspect has improved so much. ;)

Had to come in through history again today. ;)

I asked my daughter what she thought about in those two hours she had to sit there after the test with nothing to do. She laughed and said at one point her teacher shook her shoulder and asked if she was okay. It seems she had glazed over and the teacher was worried about her. She assured her teacher she was okay, that she was retelling herself Harry Potter. Her teacher chuckled and walked off. She is considering retelling herself The Hunger Games today.

Ironsos Paying bills this morning myself. I usually pay them around the 5th – 8th of the month but this month I almost forgot for some reason.

Lady Hawke That is what I do if I am somewhere waiting and I have forgotten a book. It does help pass the time. Now it takes me a long time to remember what all is in the books so it is a good time passer.

It is really hot today. I was going to mow but decided to wait. The dogs are sure enjoying being outside.

Lady Hawke I am completetly baffled by the instruction that pupils who have finished their test may not read!!!

The rain clouds moved away by lunchtime and the sun came out, but the temperature was way down. This evening we managed to squeeze in one of our recorded programmes before the start of a long and boring football match. I have escaped to the computer room briefly but I will return to my comfortable armchair because my DS is using his infra-red earphones so I will hear nothing of the match.

I have had something for lunch that I have not had for years. It is ………. sardines in mustard sauce. I ate them with onions and crackers. It was delicious. Good thing no one is around to smell my breath. Lol

Good evening!

There’s an update on my personal woes elsewhere.

Has anyone seen The Great Gatsby yet? It is one of the very few films I am excited about. I studied Tender is the Night For A’ Level, and read Gatsby as an extra. I fell for it. It is up there on my Favourite Books shelf, and I re read it often. I thought the original film was very beautiful and did it justice, and am looking forward very much to seeing the new one.

My day was full of tiny little miseries but nothing crucial, just enough I swore a few times.

The estate sale lady sold my freezer which I left at the house on the suggestion of the realtor. If he had not suggested we leave it I would have had it. There was not a lot in the house to sell so the estate sale lady told us she would only do the clean up on the house if she could keep the procedes of the sale. She would have a charity pick up what didn’t sell and I would have a receipt to put on my tax returns next year. I told her at the time the freezer was NOT for sale, that the realtor had told me to leave it in the house. Otherwise it would have been at my house. AND SHE SOLD IT and put the money in her pocket. AND instead of having a charity pick up the leftovers she had a junk dealer come and sold the lot to him and put all the money in her pocket. I cannot even get her to return my phone calls. So, the realtor has heard about it from me several times. We had nothing in writing and I have no way of proving what she sold at the estate sale, what she sold to the junk man and what she took for herself.

Then, I had a very small but highly unpleasant experience. My mother purchased six 2L Cokes at the grocery today. When I got home with them and started to take them inside the sacker person had put two 2L Cokes in one bag. When I lifted the bag and started in with it the bottom dropped out and one of the Cokes exploded when it hit the ground, soaking me and filling my suede and cork Birkenstocks with sticky Coke. I had to go home from my parent’s house, shower and change shoes and clothes before I could go on with the day.

I marched back into Kroger, found a manager and complained very loudly. He apologized and said he would talk to his sackers. He replaced the Coke but, of course, did nothing to compensate me for the potentially ruined Birkenstocks.

ASTI, I have never read The Great Gatsby. The description has always sounded sordid and depressing to me so I’ve never brought myself to do it. Bless you

COOLG, I often have sardines and crackers for lunch. I’ve never had the ones in mustard sauce. I’m fairly fussy about my sardines. My grandfather loved them but he was fussy too and passed the fussiness down to my mother and me. He did “surgery” on them, split them down the middle and removed the bones, internal organs, fins and tail. My mother and I do the same. I realize many people eat them as they come out of the tin. I also take all the bones and skin out of my canned salmon.

I had a dream featuring MM last night. I was in her city and we had gobne downtown to sightsee, shop, eat, etc. We had parked the car in a parking garage and after we reached an enclosed shopping area and found a place where we would like to eat I realized I was carrying a large pillow. I decided I needed to take it back to the car and MM said she would go in and get us a table. So, off I went to take the pillow back to the car and once I had returned as far as the door of the shopping area I found I was carrying a fuzzy blanket so I turned around in exasperation to return it to the car. Unfortunately, I took a wrong turn and ended up in the bowels of the complex, in the long dim echoing halls of the service areas. Eventually I found a couple of people who told me they would lead me back to civilization but at some point they distracted me and slipped away. I was frightened, didn’t understand why they had abandoned me and I was worried that MM would be worried about me and not know what had happened to me. When the dream ended someone else had told me they would lead me out but since the last people who said they would help me had run off I was afraid to trust whoever it was.

Lady Hawke I am also a “dissector” of tinned sardines and salmon, although I don’t touch the fins and tail. I’ve been doing it all my life.

My DS visited the doctor this morning to describe the strange feeling in his chest. Apparently he was outlining classic angina symptoms so he was given an ECG, which caught his heart in the act of a “flutter” which confirmed his diagnosis. His cholesterol level will be checked tomorrow morning after fasting overnight. He has been given an under-the-tongue spray to cope with heart pain. Apparently its job is to relax the circulatory system and can cause some patients to have a headache. I don’t find that I react that way but no-one bothered to tell me what the spray did:(

Good evening!

Lady Hawke, I am drawn to The Great Gatsby by the beauty of the writing. I love the poetry and the atmosphere of the book. It’s a masterpiece of writing, I do recommend it.

Graymayne, my best wishes for your DS. I will be thinking of you both in the morning.

Lady Hawke Although it would seem that there might be some narrowing of arteries my DS doesn’t have high blood pressure. He will probably be prescribed statins to control the cholesterol levels in his blood which lead to the deterioration of the arteries, and possibly aspirin to keep the blood thin. Maybe now we can reduce the amount of meat we eat and turn to fish and/or vegetables instead.

Asti Thanks. I haven’t read The Great Gatsby either, and I haven’t seen the film.

Morning

Is the time stamp off for anyone else? It is 10:40 AM and Deanie’s time stamp is 01:50 PM. I think we are on the same Eastern Time Zone.

I am so glad I waited to take my shower this morning. I mowed the grass and when I came in I was total soaked. My hair was wet including my clothes. I did not realize I was sweating so much. The grass was wet because it was early in the morning. I was done before I usually start mowing. I mowed early because it is suppose to rain and the grass was so high. If it rained on it again before it was mowed, I would have a hard time mowing it. I will have to go get gas and oil today so I won’t forget it. I will need it before I can mow again.

My hair has grown enough to put it in a pony tail. Now I am wondering if I should get it cut or leave it so I can put it up.

Amazon had the Great Gatsby on sale in Ebook. I don’t know if it is still on sale.

Hello everyone. I have been very busy at work. We are getting close to graduation and the office is super busy! Today they gave us our assignment letters and I am happy to report no drama this year. All my ladies are staying with me again next year. The only sad note is our school nurse. She will retire this year. . She is already over 60 and has enough credits to retire. Sigh. She is so good. I will miss her very much. The whole office is very sad to see her leave. But her daughter lives in Coloroda and she just had a baby. She wants to go and visit her brand new grandaughter whenever she wants. I can’t say I blame her. I wish I could see my grandson every day.

I have Monday and Tuesday off. I still had three vacation days left so I took Monday and Tuesday. Then I took Tuesday the 28th after Memorial Day too. This will give me a stress reliever for the end of the year madness. I seem to get sick every end of the year. :(
