Good evening!

Daughter is still very tired, and I felt VERY guilty for having to work today. She could have done with some TLC. But, she is more herself. She’s still so full of news.

Won, may the fourth be with you too! What good news about Sally, I am really pleased. Have you made any plans to meet once she is feeling herself again?

Lady Hawke, and has the much anticipated visit actually solved the problems??!

ASTI, we don’t really know yet. Our problem has been that sometimes we can access the DVR part of our cable service and sometimes we can’t. Sometimes we can access the On Demand part (the part that allows you to watch free movies, pay movies and the episodes of the current season televsion shows we might have missed and neglected to record). Sometimes we get a notice on the screen saying we are “not authorized” to use those services. Of course we are. We pay for the right to use those services. We may be blocked for hours, days or weeks. They told us we weren’t getting a strong enough signal to have access consistently and they were attempting to deal with that today. We will only know they solved our problem when we can consistently use our services.

Talking of the Derby, my DS and kids are going to watch horses racing tomorrow. It’s a Bank Holiday Family Day at a small racecourse about 25 miles away. I am sure my daughter will come back with her face painted, and that her energy will be fully replenished by sugar! While they are doing that, I am going to meet with my sister in the town.

Lady Hawke, I hope all goes well. We have a similar service that sometimes cuts out for no reason. Fortunately, turning the system on and off again usually fixes it. I hope this has sorted your problems.

Graymayne in your TV viewing do watch out for the new Robinson’s squash advert! It is tear jerking, worthy of a John Lewis Christmas advert. My DS and I both saw it for the first time tonight, and thought it was just lovely!

ASTI, I tried to find the Robinson’s squash advertisement on youtube. There are some but they are not recent. When it shows up on youtube please let us know.

I’m sure you are off with your sister by now and the family is enjoying an afternoon of racing. It is interesting they encourage the family day aspect of it. Children are not generally encouraged at most race tracks here. You will see a few brought in with their parents but the ambience of most race tracks is very mature and geared toward betting and consumption of alcohol. I was smuggled in several times due to my love of horses. I don’t know I ever saw another child. I was only 11 or 12 when the practice of smuggling me in began but I was already well over the average height of an average adult woman. So, my mother would put some makeup on me and walk me through the gates between them and no one ever stopped us.

We finally had a beautiful sunny but very cool afternoon for a few hours yesterday. The clouds piled up again and it rained all night so we have a very gloomy morning again.

Did I say I heated up my beef roast, potatoes, and carrots. I also heated up a can of sweet corn. That with a pan of cornbread and I had a delicious meal. I hope it taste as good today.

I am still working on moving things around from the bedroom. I moved my TV and cabinet today. I have also started seperating my summer clothes from my winter. I don’t think I did that last fall so everthing is mixed together.

I have found enough things to put up the bi fold door in the hall way. So slowly but surely I am getting things straightened,.

Good evening!

We had a lovely day. DS, BIL and kids had fun, even though it was extraordinarily busy there, with massive queues for everything. He is not a big betting man, but managed to come out £60 up! Daughter had her face painted….. A pretty floral design on the side of her cheek going up to her brow.
My sister bought me a fab floaty top as an early birthday present. It’s predominantly white, with pretty little short sleeves, and as you get nearer the bottom, there’s a lovely pattern of large colourful flowers. I love it!

Lady Hawke, I will keep an eye out for that advert.

I got so bored I checked a bunch of my medical records for the last 19 years using
an online data base that my medical provider has. I am luck to have had the same
company with both my job and medicade. Have not had to change a thing.

The one thing I noticed was that all my Endoscopes and Colonoscopys fill up a complete
page(10 entries). I swear that the Doctor has actually named my colon. The last time
I had one I thought I heard him say, in my dream like state, " I have checked mr ironsos
and “BOB” seems much better now.

Hi, LEW, we have the same school schedule here, one week and then finals.

I know our school dismissal only 2/3 through May seems really early but we’ve been in school since early August while the rest of the country didn’t start school until a month later. Christmas break has long been considered “midterm” and for us it really is. We have almost five months of school before Christmas and almost five months after Christmas. The people who start in September have four months before Christmas and six months after Christmas. I still feel abused when everyone else goes back to school in September and we’ve been there for a month.

I’ve been home doing laundry.

I stopped by my parent’s house to see what was left after the estate sale. Most of what we left is still there. I’m not really surprised. We pulled the best of what was there out ourselves.

The picnic table which was built on the screened in backporch the night after we moved in was gone. I am impressed. The table had to be built in place because it was too big to pass through the doors intact. Someone took it apart to get it out of there. The two huge trunks which we had dragged down out of the attic were gone as were two chairs. We had some heavy steel lawn chairs. Actually, I don’t know if they were lawn chairs so much as porch chairs because they have bolts so you can screw them into a concrete or wood base. There were some porcelain dog figurines that had belonged to my grandmother that were missing. Some pots and pans were gone. A 1950s Formica dinette table and chairs were gone. Otherwise, pretty much everything else was there.

Today we spent the May Day Bank Holiday in the garden and had our first lunch of the year outside on our corner patio. The weather is expected to stay warm and sunny for tomorrow but change by Wednesday, turning cooler and wet.

Asti I have caught the advert for Robinson’s Squash but I need to see it again and give it my full attention.

I have to say that was the best pot roast I have had in a long time. Today I made mac and cheeze to go with it. My daughter ate supper with me. She has finally closed on her house today. So now she and the bank own her new home. I am wore out but still working at straightening things up.

I have to take up the …..Oh the stuff under carpet… before I can put the carpet down. I only used pc. of carpet in the bedroom because I did not want to take up the bed. Now I have to put down a new pad plus the carpet when I get around to it. Right now I am too tired to do it. After I get it done, I will put a pair of twin beds in there for company.

I think the rain is over but my grass looks like it has grown a half foot. I shouldn’t have to mow the grass every week so early in the season.

Heading out to unpack a couple more boxes over at my parent’s apartment.

My daughter will finally have her baseball field trip tomorrow. So, we have even less real days of school than I thought.

Another lovely warm day again and I did a bit of gentle gardening, digging up wind-sown plants that have taken over, using a hand fork and sitting down to do it. I can see an improvement but anyone else would simply see chaos and neglect. I saw one or two butterflies dashing about:)

Good evening!

We are on the countdown to exam season…..son’s first GCSE, the first paper of sixteen, is on Monday. To my mind, he is not doing NEARLY enough revision. Time will tell, but I do trust him.

My legs came out for the first time this year! It was a glorious day, and I wore the top my sister bought me with the cropped black jeans I bought on my spree a few weeks ago. It felt nice to be wearing new clothes on the first properly hot day of the year.

Graymayne, I worked the Bank Holiday, but daughter and DS did a great job tidying up the garden. It looks really good. DS took girl to the Garden Centre and let her choose some plants, then gave her free rein with some pots and a bag of compost. She had a great time!

Lady Hawke, it must be very hard to go back to the house now. How are your parents feeling, and are they settling in OK?

I have an appointment with my doctor tomorrow to discuss my recent blood test results. I need something done about my raised BP because I have had a couple of angina events, something that hasn’t happened in a long while.

I bought a very good app for my Kindle Fire over the weekend, it is a guide to identifying U.K. birds and the interesting addition to what can be found in book guides is the sound of the bird song or call. Each bird has at least two photographs which fill the Fire screen. The drawback is the fact that you can’t seen the screen if you are in sunlight, although I haven’t tried using the light on full power because the battery would drain even faster.

I was pleased to hear about the escape of the three young women who were abducted about ten years ago in Cleveland, but they must have had a miserable existence during that time. I hope their abductors spend a very long time in jail. The world seems full of evil people and it seems to get worse every week. It is difficult to maintain a positive outlook on life at times.

Off to bed.

I am trying to keep an eye on the progress at the house. Nothing seems to have been done since yesterday morning toward getting it ready to put on the market.

After making myself melancholy over the house I decided to top it off with a trip to my high school which just graduated its last class forever on Sunday. The door will be open there for less than three weeks. Then, it will go the way of my church and my university. So, I walked the halls with my daughter and became weepy. Only one teacher is left who was there in my day. The football coach is now the principal. There was no one else whose names I recognized. So, I peered through the windows in the doors into the classrooms of teachers I especially appreciated.

ASTI, what do you call a properly hot day? We finally reached the upper 70s F, around 25 C for the first time in a couple of weeks. We have already reached 90 F (32.2 C) about three or four weeks ago but it turned unseasonably cold and we spent a couple of days in the lower 40s F, around 5.5 C, last week. I have had my sandals on but keep going back to my winter shoes. I have not worn proper summer clothes outside yet.

GRAYMAYNE, if you are having chest pain I am very glad you have an appointment with a doctor tomorrow. That is very unsettling.

IRONSOS, glad to see you are up to some housekeeping at your desk.

Laptop has been acting funky lately so I ordered a new one today hp dv6-7220us
Got a good price $600(387.65GBP) and financing so I feel no pressure about payback.

Have a taker who is familiar with the laptop and willing to buy it warts and all.
