Hello again.

We had a trip out for breakfast this morning, and to buy a few necessities that have had to be put on hold. I accidentally bought a couple of books.
We also checked out a few shops to look at their selection of suits. My son has his school prom at the end of June. I think he has finished growing, and with Uni interviews on the horizon, it is time to buy him his first suit. It makes me feel quite emotional.
We popped into an antique/curio shop that we like. They had an old style phone for sale, one where you have to put your finger in the hole and physically dial. Daughter was fascinated, played with it for ages and said how much fun it was. She found it hard to believe it was what we grew up with!
They also had a pianist, playing one of the pianos in the shop. He was so good he made me drool.

MM, I keep checking here and FB for news……thinking of you and hoping you don’t have to wait much longer!

Lady Hawke, just reading your post made me feel very frustrated on your behalf.

Won, that is good to hear, I am glad. xx

Ironsos, I love your snarks too! And do you mean the new Castle, rather than CC? If so, you need PB or Felipe.

Asti Well spotted about the site problem, that let’s me off the hook.

Lady Hawke Your cable TV people seem to be more trouble than they are worth! I don’t think they understand the meaning of the word service.

We have another couple of rounds with the cable company. Subsequent calls determined they had set us up with an appointment for Thursday afternoon between 1 PM and 5 PM and, of course, they had not notified us of this appointment or asked if it was convenient to us. So, my DS set up yet another appointment for next Saturday. This time we were not given a two hour window of service. We were given a four hour window of service so that will consume at least half of next Saturday, if they show up. No one seems the least concerned they inconvenienced us or that we are paying for services we are not receiving.

ASTI, I did not know you had proms in the UK. We stopped in a beer shop on the way home today and the boy behind the counter was dressed in a tuxedo. I asked if he was attending prom tonight and he admitted he was. It was about 5 PM and the prom began at 7 PM and he still had to go pick up his girl and take her to dinner.

My parents still have a rotary dial phone in their guest bedroom or they did until last week. I’m not certain which phones are in use where in the apartment. So, my daughter has a functional knowledge of the use of a rotary phone. When she spends the night with her grandparents she uses it to call me.

The pianist at the funeral service was quite good. She was one of those people who could freestyle one piece of music into another and work a theme.

MM CONGRATULATIONS, GRANNY! Welcome to grandson Mason John, and congratulations to the happy parents! That is a hefty birth weight. Was he born on April 27th or 28th?

Morning

MM Congratulations to both you and the parents. Think of all the joy that is coming your way.

Won Glad to hear that both Sally and your relationship is improving. I think of you a lot.

Asti Great news about your money worries being over for awhile. Too bad about Princess Pink not making the 50 but she did so well to make it as far as she did. Did I tell you that I saw a picture of your son and thought it was your DS? I thought that he looked different but did not consider that your son had grown so much. I should have since my grandson’s look like men now.

Ironsos I look forward to your comments every day.

MM, I congratulated you over at Facebook but I’ll do it again here. At the time I saw the announcement you had not yet given us a name. I know you are going to use Mason. Are his names family names? When do they go home? He is a big newborn.

IRONSOS, I met a lady at the funeral this weekend who is much more active in genealogy research than I am. She wasn’t even a member of my family but she was able to call me when I got back to the room and give me information on my great great grandfather. I think she must research every local family and not just her own. I told her you lived in a residential hotel on a particular street in a particular city and that people who were in town doing could also rent rooms. She drooled at the idea of your location.

LADYHAWKE – my daughter-in-law is a small woman. I am not sure how she carried a 9lbs baby. :)

Thank you everyone. We had 2 soccer games today but we are heading back to the hospital to see the baby. They close fom 2:00-4:00 to let the babies and mommies rest. LOL! I went shopping to get the baby some clothes.

Aloha! ;)

I cannot get into my Yahoo groups from work and I tend to only go there on weekends. I need to try to visit more often. Maybe I will soon be able to work it out. I go to have a sleep test on Wednesday night. Maybe getting proper rest will improve my mood and outlook. Cross your fingers. ;)

Won I sent you an owl. It is not urgent, but it does worry me. Thanks. ;)

Good evening.

I was SO pleased to quickly catch up this morning and see MM’s news! I am so happy for you all, congratulations and hugs, he is going to be very, very loved. I have seen the pictures, and he is delicious.

We had another fab day today. Son had his County golf training, so,while he was doing that, we took daughter to a children’s farm. I thought she might be a tad old, but ohhhhh no! I should have known better…… I went gooey at the animals, so obviously she was going to love it! We cuddled guinea pigs, petted alpacas, bottle fed baby goats, had our fingers suckled by young lambs, and were able to go inside an aviary full of budgies and feed them too. I had a wonderful time!

CoolG, yes, my son has shot up in the last year or so. He’s way taller than his Dad. It is strange, seeing them grow up so suddenly!

Adella, I hope you get to read all the books you want this summer, and yay for getting to wallow in Harry again!

Lady Hawke, we did not have a prom in my school days. It is an import from the US that has got bigger and bigger in the last few years. I don’t think my son is planning on taking a date. We don’t really know what the expectations are….. I think son will just be happy to go, but I know it is a big thing as far as some of the kids are concerned, with hired limos and professional makeup etc. I suppose they can put as much effort into it as they want to. I do wish he had a date though.

Asti I really like the look of alpacas but I live in a mainly sheep or mixed farming area.

It is amazing how improving in one area makes a person work on other areas. Since starting to exercise
and lose weight I have noticed other thing that need work. Yesterday I bought a Rembrandt tooth whitening
kit and the difference was quite noticeable. For a price of $20.00(12.90GBP) I was very happy. Followed
with buying a toothpaste with baking soda and peroxide added. The best rated was also the cheapest.
Colgate.

IRONSOS, good for you. Now I just have to jump on the self improvement bandwagon.

Currently, I am at home alone doing laundry. It is quite a break from what I have been doing the last few months. I can’t say I’m doing anything else productive while I am rotating loads. I am just grateful to be home.

I will probably run over to my parent’s apartment and unload a box or two before picking my daughter up from school. I do want to make significant process on the laundry before I leave.

Good evening!

Daughter is in a state of wild excitement. She is off to France tomorrow. We made her go to bed an hour ago, and I won’t be much longer…….we have to be up at 4.45am to get her to school for 5.30. Ouch.

Lady Hawke, are your parents settling in ok?

MM, I hope you get a chance to pop on here, I’d love to hear more about you getting to know your Grandson!

Asti Say “Bon voyage” to your daughter for me. I hope that they all have a great time.

Lady Hawke I would say that you are taking time to adjust to the changes in your life during the last couple of months. You have been living at a hectic pace so now is the time for reflection.

ASTI, I never manage to sleep under that much pressure to sleep fast and wake up early. I presume she is completely packed without anything last minute to shove in her suitcase if you are able to sleep until 4:45. I know her school is very close and I also presume your DS is delivering her to the school in the car. It just seems we are slow movers when we are half comatose and everything takes twice as long as it should. Is she going by train through the Chunnel or are they flying?

I went to my parent’s apartment and unpacked their curio cabinet before picking up my daughter from school. It wasn’t much but it was two boxes that are now gone. I broke down those as well as several more my parents have emptied and took them to the dumpster on my way out of their complex.

The great mystery is we haven’t found the “long box” containing my mother’s hair rollers. The only “long box” I recall has already been emptied and taken to the dumpster. She keeps asking for it and I keep not finding it.

I need to unpack the items that go into the glass cabinet in the secretary desk. There is also a bookshelf with glass doors which will be able to handle many of the items they might wish to display which I have yet to unpack. The bookshelves have displayed many different items over the years, many of which we left behind. Now we can use them to display some of the things that came with us.

I was in their house yesterday and I can tell the set up for the estate sale has begun. Items are being laid out on display but no prices have been put on them yet.

My DS still has a difficult time with the idea we are paying the realtor to organize the sale and to make arrangements for the repairs that must be done. I think maybe I have finally made him understand that if the realtor was not taking care of it all these tasks would fall to me and that would mean a lot of waiting in an empty house for workmen to show up and for me to have to be there with them alone. He was wishing we could advertise the couch for sale but that would mean I would have to meet people there to show it to them. Again, not a good idea.

We are headed out now for another trip to the house to retrieve another item.

I have brewed Butterbeer… and it is kickassculous!!! Much better than that silly vanilla soda they hawk as Butterbeer @ WWHP. It is buttery, non-alcoholic, force carbonated & tastes scrumptious. I can’t decide if I like it better ice cold or room temperature, but either way it really is quite good.
