Asti In my experience, the male of the species, when provided with either a mother or a wife, never finds it necessary to acquaint themselves with the sordid details of the laundry routine or the need to buy food. This might be a good time to think about preparing your son to be able to cope with the mysteries of the washing machine and to manage basic cooking skills before he eventually sets off for university. He will save a lot of money. He needs to master the art of ironing a shirt, even today they need to wear one occasionally! I made a strict rule about not bringing washing home to Mum at the end of term. The end result will either be a fully organised bachelor or a grateful daughter-in-law.

Hello everyone. I have been busy.

6 days until my grandbaby is due. (Not Born since babies don’t recognize due dates. LOL!)

I worked overtime this past week. We have the end of the year coming up and this is the busiest time of the year. :(
I have three vacation days left and I will use them to relieve some of the end of the year stress. The girls are reminding me that I always end up in the hospital around this time. :(

Just on cue my heart is acting up again. In preventive measures I have called the cardiologist and scheduled a stress test for Wednesday. I will kep you updated. :)

MM, please, please take care of yourself. You don’t want to be in the hospital for anything except the birth of your grandchild.

ASTI, I feel for you.

My cousin’s wife (really my cousin since I don’t remember when she wasn’t part of the family) had a heart attack today. When my cousin was trying to get her ready for the ambulance he fell and broke his ribs. They ended up in the emergency room together. They are 84 and 86. We are waiting for news. My cousin is four years younger than my mother and they sort of grew up together. On my way home my mother called to tell me one of my girl cousins, also in her 80s, is also in the same hospital. She has been ill, congestive heart failure, and she has not been eating since she came home from the hospital a couple of weeks ago. So, she is back in now.

I had not spoken the idea out loud but I have been waiting for something of this nature to occur, just as we were at the point of no return on this move. I hope we can get through tomorrow without news of further catastrophe. My mother is not only stressed out about the move, she is stressed about all these members of the family.

We finished moving the kitchen goods to the apartment. My mother does not even have a plate at the house now. All her cooking utensils are gone. All her food from the refrigerator is gone. All her spices are gone.

They have some clothing to put on in the morning. I am meant to take sausage and biscuit and coffee to the house for breakfast. My DS is to take our daughter to school and come back here to meet the moving van when we arrive for the trade out of furniture.

We still have many, many things we will have to collect after the furniture is gone. I literally pulled the sheets off the bed my daughter slept in last night and threw them on the floor. So, those will have to be collected and washed.

My DS wants me to keep my punch bowl so I will have to collect that and bring it home. I pulled the lights off the Christmas tree so I will have to bundle them up and take them to the apartment. I had no time to be neat about it tonight.

There are still various and sundry items my parents want to collect but the big move will be finished tomorrow.

Hi everyone,

I just wanted to stop in to let you know that I am okay. Fortunately, I was not up in Boston for the marathon, and everyone I know who was in Boston is also okay. One friend from work was at the race because her aunt was running, and she texted to say that one of the explosions was right behind her, but luckily she was not physically hurt though she’s extremely shaken by it.

I just had to finally turn off the tv and take a break from the coverage. It’s always upsetting to see stuff like this, but it really is so much worse to see it somewhere that you’re so familiar with. Had this not happened, it’s highly probable I would have been up there this week because it’s school vacation.

Anyway, because it’s vacation week, I had been planning to come say hello and try to catch up, but I’m not up for that right now. Just wanted to check in so you wouldn’t worry, but now I need to go try to distract myself with a book. Talk to you later.

JEN, glad to hear you and all those you know are okay.

We didn’t hear the news of Boston until late yesterday. With the move going we were out of communication with the rest of the world. I wasn’t even checking my cell phone.

The movers arrived at 8 AM yesterday and I did not wave goodbye to them until 4 PM. It took them four hours to load the house. DEANIE, I did as you suggested and put colored sticky notes with “1”, “2” and “3” on the furniture, indicating which items needed to be loaded first, second and third. I used different colors for each number. The items going all the way to my parent’s apartment needed to be loaded first so they could spend most of the day on the truck with the other items coming off at my MIL’s apartment and my house.

At first the moving guys were bemused by my numbers but once they “got” it they were able to go through the house harvesting without me walking behind them every step of the way. They were even able to unload the truck at the various locations without having to ask what was coming off where.

The house is a mess and we must go back and harvest through the piles left behind. I was picking up family heirlooms I had never seen that were dropping out of furniture crevices as the guys carried furniture through the house. There was a sterling silver bookmark with my grandmother’s initials that dropped out.

Then, I have the piles of boxes at the apartment.

My house is impassible from all the chests of drawers and cabinets that were delivered to the house.

Keep paddling! ;)

Jen Thanks for coming by to let us know that you were not at the marathon & that those you know are all safe. ;)

Really just a work lurk. ;)

Good evening!

A few days back in the Real World, and I feel much more like myself, lol. Not sure if that is good or bad! Though if my DS keeps putting his trousers in the washing basket with his belt still on them, I am honestly going to refuse to wash them. Hummpphhhhh.

Hi Mr Deanie! What are you working on?

Ironsos, am I to assume that you are feeling the benefits of the exercise you have been doing?!

Lady Hawke, I hope all is going well.

We’ve had a bit of a frustrating day as you might imagine with getting services set up in a new place. The phone jacks in the front of the apartment had been painted over, making it impossible to plug the phones into the jack. The only jack into which I could plug a phone was in the master bedroom. When the phone service guy tried to call to confirm his appointment to come and put a jack near my mother’s chair the phone rang in the back of the apartment and by the time they could get to the phone it had stopped ringing. So, they lost their appointment. So, I had to spend an enormous amount of time on hold trying to make another appointment and making certain the service people call me and not my parents.

Then, my mother received some mail which had been forwarded to them from their old address. I had paid their insurance by credit card back in February and my mother stopped a check which had taken too long to reach the company. So, the insurance company had received a payment but they also received a check which had been stopped and someone sent her a past due notice, even though the account was never past due and had been paid on time. Well, we have talked to the insurance company many times the last two weeks. It is the company that insure their car and now their apartment as well. Last week an insurance agent and I discussed all the activity on the account when I was talking to them about the apartment insurance. My parents had received a phone call telling them to contact the insurance company immediately. That had upset my mother but we established the account was current and had never been past due. Today the mail caught up with them and even though we had already gone through all this last week I had to spend time going through it all again. All this has been complicated by the change of address and the delay in receiving mail.

Tomorrow we have to go gather some things from the house and get some additional groceries into the house. I am tired. I needed today to recover a little from yesterday but it was not to be. I should have known there was no point in trying to stay home and do laundry and lick my wounds.

Once this whole thing is done I am determined to have a few days when I don’t require anything of myself. HA!

Gah! LadyHawke it must be so frustrating for you.

I have my stress test tomorrow. So I will work only half a day.

I am telling you something that I did not post on Facebook. I had my very first ambulance ride yesterday from work to the hospital ER. I was feeling sick and I went to my wonderful school nurse. She checked my blood pressure and it was really high. She told one of the clerks to call 911. I felt silly getting in an ambulance. Epecially when they brought in a gurnee and made me lay in it. I felt sooo embarrassed.

I arrived at the hospital and they did an EKG. They also drew blood to see if my heart was in distress. Thank goodness it all checked out OK. They wanted to keep me overnight for observation but they also offered me the option to go home and rest. I jumped at the chance to go home. They just said to make sure I kept my stress test appointment on Wednesday. :)
So here I sit at home resting.

I will go for the stress test tomorrow. Please send prayers my way that it all comes our OK. :(

Lady Hawke When I go see my cardiologist this summer, he wants to do a tress test. Ihave not yet made the appointment, but I usually go in July. We will be going out of town for a long weekend in July and I want to wait and finalize which weekend that will be before I make the appointment. ;)

Another day tied to the computer by my headset. ;)

My back hurts quite a bit today in spite of taking my tramadol. I only took one and the directions say to take one or two. I may need to take another one soon. ;)

Oh well, I’ll be home in about 9 hours. ;)

MM, that was NOT the surprise birthday present I wanted for you. Under the circumstances I hope your surprise present holds off until you can go and be present for the unveiling and not stuck waiting at home resting. I understand about being embarrassed about the ambulance and the gurney. It seems like ambulances and gurneys are for those who are “really” sick or injured. Unfortunately, you didn’t know if you were really sick or not.

This is Wednesday, isn’t it? Yesterday felt like Monday all day since Monday felt like some strange otherworldly “non-day”. That means this is “regular” shopping day. What it really means is a trip to the house to look things over and see what we may have inadvertently been left behind.

I’m doing a little laundry before going to pick my parents up for the run to the house. I’ve made up a plate for my DS’s dinner so it will be ready when I come in this evening. I know I am going to be tired after the errands and having dinner. Monday night my mother and I were so tired we could hardly eat at the restaurant. I’ve also made my DS’s lunch sandwiches for the rest of the week.

When I come home tonight I don’t want there to be anything I HAVE to do before I can sit down.

DEANIE, are you telling me that long weekend means a trip through here? Or were you talking to MM about the stress test?

My back is tired too. I’ve been lifting lots of boxes. My mother gets upset when I do it but they can’t lift anything and I’m usually the only one there to do it. I was trying to pull the Christmas tree into sections on Sunday night and it wouldn’t come apart it has been in one piece so long. Both of them tried to get up and hold onto the other end of the tree while I pulled. I nearly flipped out when they both wanted to tug on the other end. If they had been holding on when it let loose they would have fallen backward.

It took both men to lift that tree and carry it to the van and then into the apartment. This is the tree I wrestle into place every Christmas and wrestle back out in January.

The word this morning is that two letters containing Ricin have been intercepted on the way to Mississippi Senator Roger Wicker and to President Barack Obama. Both letters contained the same message and both contained white powder. It is confirmed the white powder in Senator Wicker’s envelope was Ricin. Both letters were post marked here in Memphis. Whoever did it is an equal opportunity nutcase. Wicker is a Republican and, of course, the president is a Democrat.

Good evening!

I am working more overtime tomorrow. I have a savings account, but I am looking to open another one…… I have built up quite a fund that I would like to keep separate from the other savings, if only to prove how much I can personally save for emergencies. Well, what a complicated business that is!!! Not as simple as I assumed…….

Lady Hawke, despite the seriousness of the situation, “an equal opportunity nutcase” is my quote of the day, lol!

MM, xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxetc! I still can’t wait to hear about your Grandbaby, and wish I could give your son and DIL a real life hug.

Mr. Deanie, I am intrigued about your Zodiac puzzles. Can you describe them a bit more?

Ironsos, as long as you are feeling the benefits, I think all must be good! There is nothing wrong with slow and steady. Are you able to do some walking yet?

Asti I have a catalog that has all of the Zodiac Signs and patterns for cutting them out as puzzles. They also have the major and minor stars locatations. I use glass jewels, coloring coloring for that particular sign. large for the major stars and smaller for the minor stars. I make them out of 3/4 in. hardwood and they stand about 8 in. tall. In the same catalog there are the 12 Chinese year signs as puzzles, so you as can see I have a lot of fun.

Asti: Weather permitting I try to walk at least a mile a day using a mix of incline and decline routes. It
has been a little windy and chilly the last two days so I just added 10 min. to my exercise bike routine.

You will not have to try and read my Christmas card envelopes this year as I received my labels today.
Got them from Avery since I use their templates and designs which are free online. Did the return labels

We are in for the night. There were still plenty of frustrations in regard to setting up a new place and closing down an old one. There were phone calls that made my want to punch people in the face.

The shopping was easier and faster and quicker to take home. The trip back to the house was depressing. There were many things I originally meant to take but I realize I don’t have the room or the energy. I’m afraid I am going to abandon some things I didn’t mean to abandon.

You know my cousin’s wife had a heart attack and my cousin fell and broke his ribs. The prognosis for her is not good. They do not expect her to go home.

My late uncle’s grandson is in the hospital having stress tests because he may be having heart issues. His wife can’t be with him since her mother fell and broke her hip and she is off in another town with her mother. So, his sister is going to be with him.

Another of my late uncle’s grandson’s “significant other” had a heart attack last night.

My cousin is in the hospital. She was in the hospital two weeks ago with congestive heart failure and went home but couldn’t eat so everything in her system is back out of line.

We are tired and we are stressed. My mother and I are on the constant brink of weepiness.

This new arrangement will work better once we have everything straightened out.
