I can tell you my old Skype account was still there. When I started setting up it told me there was already someone using my user name. Well, as you know my name is rather unusual and I have never found anyone with my chain of names that wasn’t me. So, I hit the “forgot your password button”, received and email, changed my password and had to download Skype onto this laptop.

So, if you ever had a Skype account, even without using it as I never used mine, it is probably still there. If everyone can get their Skype accounts and headphones functional we could have some proper chats.

Good morning, Leaky!

The BF is making me biscuits for breakfast. <3

Re: Skype
For those without webcams on your computers, you can do voice-only calls. You don’t HAVE to video chat – it’s just a bonus if you want to see each other. The voice only option also offers free computer-to-computer long distance calls. You can also download an app for your smartphone or tablet.

What are you having with the biscuits? We just had country ham and eggs with biscuits.

To the UK crowd, country ham is a salt cured ham. It is usually cut thin and is not as tender as a sugar cured ham. It is very salty. Of course, we refer to something more closely resembling a scone with no sugar in it when referring to biscuits.

Good evening!

Well, the tree is down and my sitting room is back to normal. It is nice to have it back, but a real shame that the little haitus from the real world is well and truly over. Daughter goes back to school tomorrow, son on Tuesday.

I have been utterly consumed by a book today. It’s been a while since a plot gripped me like this and I am actually resenting having to go to work tomorrow, as I know I won’t be able to finish it. I need to know what happens! It is called Gone Girl, by Gillian Flynn, just out here in paperback. I know Jen has read it, has anyone else?

I think I have set up a Skype account.

And I can get into the New Castle. Though I am a bit mystified by what exactly that email from Leaky really means. Thanks, Won for posting it.

Lady Hawke, my daughter has read about 2/3rds of The Alchemist, and says it is really good!

Melissa has stated that Leaky is not going anywhere… She just said that she is having the entire site recoded to a more common standard so that anyone can work on it. The big problem with Leaky is that so much of the code it uses is non standard, ‘jury rigged’ stuff that none of the new volunteers can decipher, & work with or fix…

Help!!! We both need to set up gmail accounts and I am having a really hard time doing it on the phone. It keeps going dark after about 45 seconds. I’m not that fast!

Can I set it up from the computer and then just use it on the phone? Do i need a Google account as well? Are they the same thing? I am totally clueless!

Also, on the phone, I somehow managed to move my phone icon into the same folder as my “Play Store” and I don’t know how to get it back out and on the bottom of the home screen.

This stuff is not intuitive to me!! Waaaaaah!! ;)

DEANIE, I just have to shake my head at you. I have not a clue. It almost makes me want to stay with my fusty old Blackberry.

ASTI, do you have the headset you need to be able to use Skype?

WON, my concern then is if they recode the whole place will they let us stay here?

My daughter has become friendly with several people at our local bookstore. I know you can’t imagine that would be the case. Before Christmas one of them recommended some books by Karen Marie Moning to her as they are fae books. My daughter purchased the first one and really enjoyed it except when she took it to school one of the pesky little boys grabbed it and found the only embarrassing passage in the entire thing and ran down the hall reading it out loud. She will never take another of that series or that author to school again.

A couple of weeks ago the young woman who recommended the books asked for my phone number. She is friends with the author as she is active in the FaeFeverCon community. She arranged to have the second and third books autographed by the author for my daughter and wanted my number to call me when she had them with her at work. She called this morning so when I went to pick my daughter up from her grandparent’s house we headed home by way of the bookstore. My daughter was a bit mystified as she had no money to spend. (I took care of that by accidentally finding two Susannah Kearsley books following me home.) When I checked out my books the young lady went behind the counter and produced the two autographed books. My daughter was stunned and thrilled.

ASTI, I’m so glad your daughter is enjoying The Alchemist. (These Karen Marie Moning books are NOT recommended for her at this time. At 13 my daughter could barely stand the embarrassment of being found in possession of them.)

Deanie open the “play store”, when it opens hold the icon you need to move until they start dancing. (Jiggling) once they are jiggling you can move it to wherever you want it on your phone. Just keep holding it and move it while you are pressing it. Try it. :)

Asti Thanks for the heads-up, I’ve just downloaded Gone Girl onto my Kindle, having inspected the “look inside” glimpse. By the way I have received a copy of that email from Leaky, it arrived yesterday.

I must just look up some technical stuff.

Also, you can open your gmail account with your computer and use it on your phone as long as you have the password. :)

Goodness! I guess I will have to look into getting a Skype account. My granddaughter has one and wanted me to get one but I don’t think I did because of no Camera. If you have ever talked to me on a phone, you know it takes awhile for me to get out what I am trying to say. I was just looking at what I had on if I would be presentable. I guess I would. I have on clothes and my hair is combed. Did I tell you that I look even older now that my eyes are getting fixed?

Won Who is in your new avatar? I tried to think if this would be you but there was no pony tail. Of course you probably cut it off when you were having problems getting around. Anyway you would probably be 10 years older than the last picture I saw of you so I can not tell. Did I tell you that you are the same age as my youngest brother? He recently lost a lot of weight too. He now looks more like his Dad. It is always a shock when I see him now.

OK what is gmail? Google? What is the Blogsport ? I have an account that I use to blog with but it has been so long I can’t remember who supports it.

LadyHawke, those fae books by Moning are highly sexual especially as the books progress. The first parts seem okay but towards the end, they are tittilating or sometimes, not “nice”. Best that you read them first. They are quite entertaining especially for adults. I like them.

Moning’s books are almost/not quite erotica. The Fever series seems lighthearted but that’s literally the icing over the very dark chocolate cake. Yummy and naughty. :)

Oh, and the spinoff to the Fever series, Iced, is a lot more like YA so this one is okay I think. For now.

Lady Hawke, has your daughter read the books by Tamora Pierce? Quite good. All YA I believe. Few sexual content, in a matter of fact way so not really morally scary. I am now reading the latest (2011) called Mastiff.

There are several series that the author wrote, all somehow related so best to start from the very first one, The Song of the Liones quartet then The Immortals quartet, Protector of the Small Quartet, Trickster’s duo, and the latest which is The Beka Cooper Triology.

More wiccan than faerie but with immortals and a few gods/goddesses.

Cool G: G-mail is an e-mail account like yahoo. Google is a search engine which finds sites that answer
a question you have like where is Ohio? or how does a tv work or location of my nearest bank branch.

Now that is a hoot! I kept wondering who he was because he did look familiar. I was wondering if it might be you even though it did not look like you. People change over the years. I knew you had lost weight and being sick for an extended period of time does make you look older. I know personally that it aged me 10 years over a short period of time. Now that I can see better again, I really look old.

Thanks Ironsos. I do know what Google is but didn’t know gmail. I went to my blog and found out that it is run by Google. I also saw I hadn’t written anything in about two years. It is a wonder I still had my page. I do use it when I comment on different sites so I guess that keeps it active.

I took down my Christmas tree today. This is a first. I usually don’t take it down until February. I figured I needed it down early so it would be out of the way when Jennifer moves her things out of the bedroom. She is thinking about renting her house until she closes. The home owner has agreed to do the repairs the home inspection found. At least this will give me room if she gets her stuff moved. I am not going to store her things for her after she gets her house. Well I might until it gets warmer weather in order to move her things.
