Not on your life or my life!!!! There are literally hundreds of them. I would go mad unpacking them simply to find ones I want to photograph and then have to put them back. I am campaigning to have a place for that tree.

Ohhhhh, I thought that was a good one! I was quite proud of that idea! Ok, so you are just going to have to force your DS back into the bedroom, and put up the tree!!

Or you could turn your bedroom into the Christmas room and up the tree up in there.

LadyHawke – you will just need to put your big girl panties on and put up that tree. :)
This from the woman that was so grateful her daughter put the tree up. :/

Gahhhh!! Master LEW I find that I do not have your address. So I cannot send your card to you. If you don’t want to put it in the database at CC, would you please send it to me at the email I use there? Thanks! ;)

I think turning the bedroom into your Christmas room sounds great! I was also thinking that you could hang a couple of red or green curtain panels and pin the ornaments to that. Of course they would not hang free then, but they could be arranged in a tree shape or several wreath shapes. And only the curtain panels, or the rods on which you would hang them, would be actually hung on the wall. Of course, you could temporarily replace your window treatments with the seasonal panels. White or gold would also be festive and might be used later for something else. ;)

As I was typing that, it occurred to me that a couple of rolls of wide ribbon from the craft store would be less expensive and more versitile. Cut varying lengths of ribbon and using a large package of safety pins, make ornament streamers to hang in the windows. Most window treatments have some sort of header from which you can hang the ribbons. Use 2 or 3 safety pins to connect the ribbon around the header. Then put the safety pins in the ribbon, with the pin part on the back of the ribbon. This leaves you with a series of “silver” bars on the front from which to hang the ornaments. As a stop-gap measure, until you get that tree up, it may help you feel better and more in the spirit. ;)

An older cousin was clearing out some family photos her mother had given her. She sent me and envelope full of photos which I received yesterday. There were several formal studio portraits of my father and grandmother I had never seen. One of them that made me laugh out loud was one of my father at about three months old laid out naked on his stomach, the proverbial “naked on a bear rug” picture. There was also a graduation photo of my grandmother in which she is wearing a necklace that is in my jewelry box.

Lady Hawke What a find with the pictures you received. I hope you can tell who is in the pictures. I have no more suggestions for your tree. If you can not put up your tree, just put out your regular Christmas decorations. I keep my Christmas cards every year so if you do too, you could hang them through out your home. I just finished putting Winnie The Poo characters on my tree. I have two large ones and then several smaller ones of the whole gang. I also have some lights of Winnie The Poo. I also have a Santa Clause. I am now at the point of putting a few ornaments to finish up my tree. I have had my Winnie The Poo stuff toys since the grandkids were small. I did not use them for several years but used them last year and now this year. They comfort me for some reason.

It is rainey here today. I think I will wait until Jennifer comes home and see if she will take me to town. I don’t want to drive since my eyes have gotten worse. The last time I was out I decided I wasn’t going to drive until I got new glasses.

Ironsos Your card arrived this morning, thank you:)

Lady Hawke I particularly like the idea of a photo of your grandmother wearing the necklace that you inherited from her, it gives such a feeling of continuity.

Yesterday I had an interesting experience. Last winter when BigG was in Hungary he set off on a bus trip to see a demonstration of archery on horseback but was denied his treat because a heavy snowfall caused the show to be cancelled. He did manage to inspect a display of bows and paid for one to be sent home to the UK, and he met the archer and founder of a group of fellow enthusiasts who take part in these demonstrations. He took some photos of the riding centre which contained some very interesting folk architecture. Last night I was watching a documentary series on The Dark Ages being presented by a man with what I felt was a Polish name. He was discussing Attila the Hun, a figure usually described very negatively but who is looked upon as a hero by Hungarians. Whilst he was talking, a party of archers on horseback galloped past and proceeded to shoot arrows at a target, and I immediately remembered my son’s adventure in the snow and felt certain that there was a link. Shortly after that the presenter spoke with a man in period costume, who spoke no English, but he was given no introduction that I remember. I became convinced that this was the man BigG had wanted to watch firing arrows whilst riding, so I watched the credits and spotted a familiar name. I was right! I have alerted my son to the programme so he can watch it on BBC iPlayer. He was pleased.

GRAYMAYNE, that is a great coincidence and so lucky because although BIGG was unable to attend the demonstration he won’t miss it entirely. One of the deepest desires of my daughter’s heart is to have a bow. You know she is a Greek mythology fan and is particularly taken with Artemis. Then, there is the Katniss in Hunger Games tie in. Also, her astrology sign is Sagitarius, once again with the Katniss tie in. I took archery at university and turned out to be fairly good at it. I haven’t allowed her to have a bow as we have a tiny back yard and she would have nowhere to practice that did not endanger neighbors and our dogs.

MAGGIE just called me. She has been working long hours. She doesn’t drive but goes to work with a friend. If they are not on the same shift but have overlapping shifts she goes in with her anyway and will be there two shifts back to back and although she is not on the clock she helps her friend. So, she is running herself ragged. She is having some unexplained chest pain and has been to the emergency room about it and nothing was found. The problem keeps recurring so she is worried.

DR LEW, Yay! for the end of the semester. Now, enjoy Christmas. Yes, I know you have to do lesson plans for next semester but enjoy Christmas. Just think next year you can use the lesson plans from this year over again, or at least part of them. You won’t be starting from ground zero ever again.

It is so sad about the nurse who transferred the phone call at the hospital to the Duchess’s nurse. She has been found dead near the hospital. Some reports have said it was suicide but the case is being left open as an unexplained death. It is sad she is dead and sad that it taints some of the pleasure over the baby.

Dr. LEW How nice your semester is over for the year. Hopefully all the things you have to do to end this year and prepare for next year will not take long.

Lady Hawke That is strange but I can see no connection since she just transferred a call and did not actually do any reporting. Of course you never know how she could have percieved it or other people. They have archery in middle school here. My grandsons did quite good in the competitions they had.

Graymayne That was nice that you saw the archers on horses. Hopefully Big G will be able to catch the show.

I have got my Christmas card holder up and have Ironsos and Rhi cards hanging on it. I think I am almost done with my decorations. I put snowflake ornaments in my windows. I put out all my little snowmen up in different places. Now I need to address my Christmas cards so I can mail them. I have the stamps but need to go to post office for the ones overseas.

I text my daughter to bring home a doorknob kit for the front door. For some reason I can’t turn the knob nor push the button for the one on it. I took it apart and used WD40 0n it but it didn’t help. I won’t have an expensive one on it now but that is OK. The dogs won’t be able to push the knob to open the door. They will not like that but I don’t have $150 dollars to buy one like what is on there now.

CoolG It amuses me to think that very few people watching the programme about the Dark Ages will have any knowledge of the Archery/Riding school in Hungary and its founder. BigG will be able to watch it on BBCiPlayer on his computer after work. I hope he find the rest of the material interesting.

COOLG, I elected to just put three stamps on the Christmas cards to the UK. I looked it up and a card of one ounce or less was $1.05 postage to the UK. My cards didn’t even weigh half an ounce. I decided it wasn’t worth the gas and the time to go to the post office and stand in line to get $.17 worth of stamps for each card to top off my Christmas stamps. So, I just put three stamps on each.

Good evening!

I received cards today from Ironsos and Sirius, thank you both very much!

I have had quite a productive day. Did the usual food shopping and laundry, but also got all my Leaky cards written, and the UK ones posted. AND…… I even got some presents wrapped! I am quite proud of myself!

ASTI, I allowed the used bookstore to do a free wrap on the books I purchased. They had lovely heavy blue paper with gold trefoils. I wrap my daughter’s Christmas presents in blue paper anyway so I took advantage of it. I will still have some to wrap for her.

I did put my Leaky friends Christmas cards in the post yesterday afternoon.

I have a drawer full of lovely cheeses which are tempting me but I must stay strong and keep them for Christmas.

while coming home from the store I stopped at a street vendor and bought a Greek dog wrapped
in pita bread that had onions and tomatoes and a Greek sauce that was outstanding. I will have to ask
them what the sauce is made of.

IRONSOS, I bet it is some sort of yogurt and cucumber concoction.

http://greekfood.about.com/od/dipsspreadspures1/r/Tzatziki.htm

Cool and creamy, this tangy cucumber dip flavored with garlic is the perfect compliment to grilled meats and vegetables. It’s served on the side with warm pita bread triangles for dipping, and is also used as a condiment for souvlaki.

Prep Time: 20 minutes

Total Time: 20 minutes

Ingredients:
•3 tbsp. olive oil
•1 tbsp. vinegar
•2 cloves garlic, minced finely
•1/2 tsp. salt
•1/4 tsp. white pepper
•1 cup greek yogurt, strained
•1 cup sour cream
•2 cucumbers, peeled, seeded and diced
•1 tsp. chopped fresh dill

Preparation:

Combine olive oil, vinegar, garlic, salt, and pepper in a bowl. Mix until well combined. Using a whisk, blend the yogurt with the sour cream. Add the olive oil mixture to the yogurt mixture and mix well. Finally, add the cucumber and chopped fresh dill. Chill for at least two hours before serving.

Does that seem about right?

Master LEW You must have added your address just after I printed the list. Thanks! ;)

Our cubicle wall panels at work are just the right width to put gift wrap on them without too much cutting. So some of us are “wrapping” them to resemble packages with ribbons. It means I will have to move my sweater to another spot. I really only wear the sweater once or twice a year, but the moment I bring it home, the heat will fail and I’ll need it. I do bring it home a few times a year just to wash it, but I always do that over the weekend and return it on Monday. ;)

I am feeling just a tiny bit shakey, so I suppose I should go eat something. ;)

Greek yogurt is really thick. So is sour cream but you have 4 T of olive oil and vinegar as well as the cucumber. The white sauce they squirt on a gyro is usually squirted out of a ketchup or mustard squeeze bottle. So, I’m curious at what they tell you is in the sauce.

We are having big loud booming thunderstorms this morning. As if the booming wasn’t loud enough the girl dog had to bark at the booming and then come jump on me in bed to let me know something scary was happening.

So, we are up now. I’ve cooked sausage and potato hash with eggs to go on top. That is unusual for me. We don’t generally eat a lot of potatoes but I had some roasted ones left that were not enough to serve everyone for a side dish with dinner. So, I decided to dice them up and add onions, celery, mushrooms, garlic and diced up some hot smoked sausage. It was a nice change for breakfast. I get tired of the standard breakfast foods, some sort of egg, some sort of bacon, sausage or ham and either biscuits, toast, pancakes or waffles.

I have no plans for today other than continuing to work through laundry and just being quiet here. Since it is a stormy day that makes it easy. Tomorrow we may go start working on my parent’s tree which is a lot more work and a lot more time consuming than mine.

I do think I’ve convinced my DS to at least stop sleeping in the great room. I’ve told him we don’t have to change anything else. We won’t move the clothes back into the drawers. We will keep up with the dusting. I don’t care if there is white dust on the carpet if I have room to put the tree up. So, maybe by next weekend I can start on my own tree.

That is good news Lady Hawke about putting your tree up. Mine is decorated and looks great. My daughter is going to put a few presents under it. I may go get a few presents to put under it too. I usually just give money but I think I will get some little something as a gift for a change.

Good evening!

I am injured! I was frying an egg for my daughter’s tea, and the hot oil spat all over my wrist. I got it under cold water straight away, but it is very very red, stings a LOT, and I’ve got a horrible feeling it’s going to blister.

On a happier note, our tree is up! It looks fab.

I also got my Leaky cards posted. WOW, has the cost of postage gone up!

Lady Hawke, woohoo, well done!
