graymayne lovely to see you and your DS yesterday, cant believe its nearly 3 years since our last meet up. I cant comment about the food at the pub but the pudding was delicious. . . I really enjoyed my cheesecake. Hopefully see you again soon and lets not leave it 3 years this time.
mike that sounds absolutely revolting. I would recommend a nice salad instead.
Hope everyone has a fun day, I’d better run as I have a conf call starting in 10 mins and i need some breakfast
ironsos, while that movie looks to have a fantastic cast, I’m not gonna lie – it looks horribly boring.
It is September and we are having a Heat Advisory for the next two days, 98F (36.7C) with a Heat Index of 108F (42.2C) each day.
Fortunately, by this weekend we will have some relief with temperatures running from 80F (26.7C) to 84F (28.9C) for the weekend.
Unfortunately, our temperatures are capable of going right back up. Just because the temperatures become comfortable for a few days doesn’t mean they will stay there.
Funny I am wondering if I can keep up with who is whom in the movie.
I think I need to do some house work.
IRONSOS, the movie looks high quality but confusing to me. I’m certain this is something my DS will be excited about seeing and I can already tell you it is likely to be one of those movies he will add to our DVD collection. I will probably watch it multiple times and still have problems sorting is out.
This is parental shopping day. I also have to take my father for some blood work at the hospital and then I have an appointment myself.
Where is DEANIE?
Goodness, I’ve been over to CC for the first time in about a week, lots of activity over there.
They “fixed” our computers at work again and I cannot get to YouTube. Again. ;)
It has been over a week since I have visited YA and much longer since I have checked in anywhere else. ;)
Lady Hawke I feel for your loss of all that food. Did you file with your homeowners insurance? Or is the deductable high enough to not maike that practical? ;)
My toothache is bad today and I am soooo glad that we do not seem to be getting too many calls. The drugs are not helping and talking seems to aggivate it. Seeing the dentist Friday. ;)
Great wallpaper for my laptop

I am wondering if maybe reading the book first is not a good idea befor seeing the movie. seems
like to much may be going on. Tom Hanks REALLY needs to get a new hair stylist.
The UtahStat Fair opens Thursday and one of the food items being sold is deep fried green jello.
I still have two different green jello olyimpic pins from the 2002 winter games.
You will want the book by David Mitchell. Amazon lists two books with this title.
Wallpaper will not work for me. Either to blurry or to small. Darn.
Deanie: Google “Cloud Atlas trailer” There are several options. Hope one will work.
Good evening!
Well, the first day of school went well. They were both brimming over with news when I got home. There is a picture at CC.
Ironsos, I have read, and enjoyed a couple of books by David Mitchell, but not Cloud Atlas. I will have to have a look at your trailer.
Deanie, the toothache sounds horrid. My kids were very upset with me yesterday……. it was the last day of the holidays, and they both had the dentist!! To be fair, when the appointment was made, 6 months ago, I had no idea they were still going to be on holiday, I thought they’d just have started back. AND the appointment resulted in my son having his first filling…. Fortunately just a tiny one, but I was still not popular! I do hope your appointment will solve your problems.
Wolfie and Graymayne, I’m so pleased you had a good time! Jealous!!!!
I have been watching as much of the Paralympics as I can, and am finding it even more impressive than the Olympics themselves. For the first time, I am tonight watching a pretty groundbreaking programme, a mixture of a review of the day’s action and a chat show/ comedy programme. It is called, of all things, The Last Leg, and is funny, subversive, and deeply respectful to all the athletes. Griphook was one of tonight’s guests.
What has impressed me a lot about the Paralympic coverage is how many of the commentators are disabled themselves. But then, if they are so good at the job, which they are, why are they not employed full time by the tv channels?
We became very excited at dinner tonight. My daughter took DAUGHTER OF SMOKE AND BONE into the restaurant and our waitress showed interest in it. She asked where I had found it and I went onto explain I had a signed hardback copy I had acquired at a conference I had attended a few weeks ago. She asked some more questions and I finally decided it was okay to tell her what kind of conference. She seemed “our kind”. When I told her I had attended an enormous Harry Potter conference she started jumping up and down and thrust her fist at me. She had The Deathly Hallows tattooed on her finger. So, I squealed and thrust my Deathly Hallows phone cover at her. She ended up sitting with us between duty runs to other tables. So, we talked HP and LeakyCon and StarKids. No, she has never attended a LeakyCon but she was ever so excited to hear about them. My daughter and I were excited because as you know it is hard to find “our kind” around here.
DEANIE, I’m sorry your tooth is such a problem. I know Friday can’t get here soon enough.
DR. LEW,
My daughter wants to know if your dinner companion is “cute like a sad puppy” or “hot cute”? Twelve year olds will ask what the adults want to know but haven’t asked.
ASTI, I don’t think they are even televising any of the Paralympics here. It is too bad. I would have liked to see some of it. It seems there should be pressure to hire competent people on air, even if they are not physically “perfect”.
I’m glad your children had a good first day. It sets a good tone for the year.
IRONSOS, I couldn’t see the periodic table well enough to catch all the jokes, to get the tie ins. It was too small and then too blurry.
I agree Lady Hawke. I had the same problem.
Of to sleep. Have to get up at 7:00 am to go to surgery center for cataract/lens implant.
Should be back by mid afternoon my time.
Good morning!
Or not so good actually. I woke up to a poorly DS, and the piano tuner has just arrived, so he’s not getting a lot of rest, bless him!
Ironsos, all the best today. Let us know how you get on. xx
hi asti I have been really enjoying the paralympics. I’ve seen The Last Leg a number of times and its really funny. The guy who hosts it is a disabled comedian who I’ve seen on a couple of shows over the last 6 months. I’m hoping that the TV execs will learn from the paralympics about the power of good marketing. They’ve done a really good job in the UK of packaging the event into something that looks cool and its worked as lots of people are watching it. It might help the TV execs understand that people want more than just football on the TV.
ladyhawke its a shame the paralypics arent being televised in the US as they have one of the biggest teams competing in the event. I watched the opening ceremony and there were hundreds of US athletes.
Better go I have to submit my expenses today gah I hate it.
on a happier note I am on leave tommorow and taking my nephew glamping. My friend and I have hired a yurt and a camping pod in the peak district and we are having a weekened away ‘fancy camping.’ I’m very excited
ironsos good luck with the implants (do you think they can give you a brain implant while you are there too – will solve two problems with just one simple operation :-P )
Test test test. Leaky won’t let me post.
Ladyhawke, Your daughter’s question has made my day! (Granted it’s before 8am and all I’ve done today is run 8 miles and scarf down food, but it still put a big smile on my face.) I’d say he’s between those two end-members on the spectrum. I wouldn’t call him hot, but he’s above the “puppy cute” description because I associate that more with having a baby-face. And he doesn’t. But I find him cute, and nice, and laid back, and so easy to talk to. And he makes me laugh. He came over after our soccer game yesterday to watch the Giants-Cowboys game. I out-ate him and then promptly fell asleep on him during the 4th quarter. What can I say – I’m a hot date.
Ironsos I hope everything goes perfectly.
Asti I’m sorry to hear that your DS is not well. Please give him my best wishes for his swift improvement and I will send him some healing energy right after posting this.
yeah for out eating boys Lew thats the way it should be
Thanks, wolfie, I knew I’d done you proud. ;)
DR. LEW, from your description I would classify your guy as attractive in a real way, not a manufactured gym obsessed way. He sounds lovely.
IRONSOS, we’ll be anxious to hear from you this afternoon.
Nope. I’m definitely the gym-obsessed one around here. So far he seems to be a great guy. We’ll see what happens…
Ironsos Great trailer, I’m impressed.
