WOLFIE, is the name of the book the same as the movie?
Off to start frying that chicken… Fresh roasted corn on the cob too…
Hi ladyhawke its a series of 7 books. The first one is named after the film. I thought it was a good series. Short books and quite fast paced. It reminds me of the hunger games because it doesnt step back from tacking the tougher story lines. I’m just re-reading them at the moment as I havent read them for a few years and I forgot how good they where.
Ironsos they’ve been talking about a sequel for a while. The problem is that the book is about teenagers and they have waited so long to do the sequel that they may end up having to get another cast as the current one will be too old
oh and ladyhawke you mentioned the chicken and the corn just to taunt me, dont pretend you didnt :-P
Why, WOLFIE, I am just telling about my progress. The oil is heating up and we are about to dip the chicken in milk and then shake in a bag of seasoned flour before putting it in the oil. That is all I’m doing. Charting my progress…
ASTI, when you do watch THE HELP, notice that I think the character’s name is Elizabeth’s, the one with the little girl, is very much the house my parents live in today and the house I grew up in. Both the homes I lived in as a child were very much the same sort of floorplan. When they come in the front door to the formal living room with the dining table at the end and then pass into the kitchen and then into the informal family room, that is the basic house I lived in until I married.
The corn is drizzled in olive oil with salt, pepper, onion powder and garlic powder, wrapped in foil and roasting.
you are so mean ladyhawke :-P
its midnight so I had better head to bed . . don’t want to meet graymayne tommorow looking all tired and bleary eyed.
Also I’m going to start to drool over my computer keyboard if I hear anymore about the fried chicken. I hate being a stupid vegetarian
Take photos tomorrow!!!!
Just turned the first batch, nice and golden… It’s smelling good now.
The chicken is very yummy and so is the corn.
It is very strange. We are watching a movie from 1985, Young Sherlock Holmes. The screenplay was written by Chris Columbus. It is very reminiscent of PS and CoS. The setting is very Hogwarts and Diagon Alley. It is set in a boy’s school and there is a very “Malfoy” character name DUDLEY. The Malfoy character ends up with hair bleached white blonde. It is another two boys and one girl combination. The Watson character is very similar to Neville.
There has been a dueling class and Holmes deduces all sorts of information about Watson, partially based on the tag on his luggage.
I understand now where they found Chris Columbus to direct the first two HP movies. He had already made them on a lower budget.
Now they have broken into the school library at night with a lantern hanging from their hand.
Just finished “Hunger Games” Enjoyed the movie. Loved the music. Music over
the end credits was the best I have heard in many years.
I’ve been out all morning.
Now, after I find some food (who knows what since most of our food is gone) I need to make some soup. When I went to the grocery to buy the chicken to fry last night I also picked up the makings of soup for today. So, if I want dinner I have to make soup.
IRONSOS, I purchased the three DVD set of Hunger Games but I haven’t watched anything but the movie yet.
A can of sardines…
I found some smoked sausage in my top freezer in the kitchen so I started the onions, celery, carrots, etc. with some sausage. I deboned some chicken we had been using for sandwiches on the weekend. I added a can of diced tomatoes, a carton of chicken stock and a carton of a tomato, basil, bacon soup. Then, I added the deboned chicken and the frozen mixed veggies. It is all simmering and later I’ll add a little pasta. So, I’ll have something for dinner.
I’ll probably make some cornbread too.
Evening all! We had a great meeting with Wolfie and fell into non-stop nattering as we Leaky people do. This unfamiliar venue did us proud with regard to the food, as we had decided to have lunch there in advance of the meeting time, although the green Thai curry vegetable curry I chose proved spicier than I had expected but it was an interesting change. Wolfie arrived in time for dessert, we each chose something different. The sun did its best to break through the cloud layer and finally made it for short periods. It was so good to catch up after our three-year break and I am happy to report that she was favourably impressed with our adopted county on this, her first visit. Photos in the meetings folder in due course, I need an early night.
Graymayne: Glad the meeting went well.
Take a cinnimon bun, coat with a sweet pancake batter, roll in bacon bits, deep fry
and add powdered sugar. Yum!!! This years winner of the Texas State Fair fried
food contest. Thinking about going to the store.
Ironsos OMG! I feel sick!!
Oh good Lord. Now I’m starving.
If any of you recall MUGGLE TRISH she has a very sick little girl. The family had a stomach virus but it turned out the child not only had a stomach virus, she had a hot appendix. It ruptured and she had surgery and went home and had to go back to the hospital with pneumonia and absesses in her internal cavity. Then, they sent her home and now she is going back to the hospital but they don’t know what is wrong this time. This started two weeks ago.
They could probably use some prayers and white light.
DR. LEW,
I am going to recommend something MUGGLE TRISH recommended to me, Chia Seeds. Yes, the chia seeds from Chia Pets. You use 2 T a day. You can mix them in yogurt or soup or even a beverage. You can sprinkle them on salads. They are high in fiber and high in Omega 3 as well as some other things. I have been using them the last two weeks and I have found it is really controlling my appetite. Look them up on the internet.
DR. LEW,
My daughter just did an assignment on Dracorex Hogwartsia.
IRONSOS, I have to agree with GRAYMAYNE. That sounds pretty revolting to me. I tried a deep fried something or other, maybe a Milky Way, at the fair one time. I ended up dumping whatever it was. I would have rather just had the deep fried item without the deep fried part.
And as for Dracorex hogwartsia, it’s a defunct taxon. It’s been synonymized with Pachycephelosaurus wyomingensis. D. hogwartsia was named based on a juvenile individual (big no-no) and has subsequently been shown to just be the juvenile form of an already described adult species (P. wyomingensis).
I’m so fed up with Leaky not letting me post my full messages!
Part 1 to LH: Thanks, LH. I’m pretty sure I’m hungry because I ran 8 miles and played an hour of basketball today, but I’m definitely still figuring out this whole eating and exercising thing. Thanks for the tip.
Best movie trailer I have seen in years.
