WON used the word prezzy and got by with it.
I have reported our weird problem to Leaky. There seems little rhyme or reason as to why the posts are rejecting, other than there are words it doesn’t like, even if there is nothing wrong with the word.
I checked. The words it rejected in my posts are real words, recognized in dictionaries and they are not profanity.
I don’t believe my initials are profanity.
its wierd that they are rejecting made up words – especially considering the type of site we are all on and the large number of people who make up crazy screen names.
OK I will try again myself. Glad to see you Wolfie.
It is a dreary day today. A little rainey but mostly just dreary.
Maybe they are trying to run us off, making it so difficult to post.
hahaha have they met us! we don’t scare easy.
coolg its very rare I get to say this, but the weather has been beautiful over here. I went for a walk in the sunshine at lunchtime and actually had time to enjoy my garden without being soaked through to the skin in a torrential downpour.
Even though it is a holiday the electricians have come to repair the electrical outlets and the attic exhaust fan.
It seems the freezer was on a circuit with the outside outlets on the front porch. When it rains and water gets in the box, like Saturday night in the torrential rain from the vestiges of the hurricane, it will throw the switch AND the switch in the garage which makes my freezer defrost. So, he switched the outlets so the only one that will shut off when wet is the one that is actually outside. The garage one now has a normal outlet that will stay on unless we lose power to the house.
Also, two years ago we had work done on our attic exhaust fan. The insurance company had to replace it. A few months ago with had an electrician in the house to do some other work and he told us the fan had been installed incorrectly and wasn’t working because it was installed incorrectly.
We contacted the home repair insurance company and they told us we would have to have the contractor send a letter specifying the work had been done improperly. We were awaiting his response when we had this electrical problem. The insurance company sent a different electrician today who repaired out electrical outlet situation but also confirmed a problem with the attic fan. It wasn’t just installed incorrectly. It was the wrong fan for the job. So, he has replaced it.
ladyhawke I’m having a bit of an electrical nightmare with my mums house. Currently we rent it out through a management agency. Every year we pay £90 for an electrical safety inspection. We’ve had two so far. Last year the house passed its inspection. This year they used a new electrician and he came back and said the house needed £400 worth of work. I queried why this hadnt been picked up last year and they said they had concerns about their old electrician, that he wasnt thorough enough so had employed a new one. I was a little bit shocked because they are a professional organisation and I expected that they would employ a competent people. As most of the electricans costs where for parts and my cousin works for an electrical supply company we said we would use our own electrician to do the work as it was only £200 for us to buy the parts and ask our electrician to fit them.
Our electrician went to site and immediately contacted us to say that the house wasnt earthed and there was no RCB protection. I was instantly worried because these are the key reasons why the property is safety tested each year to make sure these safeguards are in place – so these basic issues had been missed in 2 seperate inspections. Then our electrician found a major issue with with the electrics in the kitchen (which he condemned) and a live wire to the washing machine that could have made the appliance ‘live’. Its cost us £700 so far with no end in sight. Our electrician has done lots of work for free for us, because he feels really bad and he’s so appalled by the fact that none of this stuff has been picked up on previous inspections that he’s written a formal notice to the managing agent. I’m waiting for him to send me the formal notice so I can at least demand the £190 we have paid on electrical inspections so far.
I’m really concerned because although the liability has to rest with the managing agent, and we’ve completed all of the repairs as soon as we were informed of them, as a landlord I want tennants to be in a safe environment. I keep thinking what would have happened if we hadnt employed our electrician and the washing machine had become ‘live’ and one of our tennants children electrocuted themselves. Legally it wouldnt have been our fault – but on a personal basis my sister and I would have been devastated.
WOLFIE,
It is horrifying what you find out when one “professional” follows another “professional” and looks at the work that was done. Presumably, all these people are licensed to do the work they are charging you for. Rampant incompetence internationally is shameful.
We were waiting for a letter from the electrician who was here a few weeks ago, saying the fan was installed incorrectly, but we could tell he was reluctant to put into writing what he told my husband while he was standing in our attic. So, other than losing the entire contents of my freezer, it was a blessing to have another electrical problem that caused them to send yet another electrician who confirmed the attic fan was not only installed incorrectly, but the wrong fan entirely. He took it upon himself to take the wrong one out and put the right one in. He will notify the insurance company.
Even though this has been tremendously expensive for you it is hoped you can breathe easy in the knowledge your house is now up to code and safe.
Good evening, and how lovely to see you, Wolfie, despite the scary electrical problems. I am looking forward to hearing about your meet up with Graymayne tomorrow.
And how odd. Leaky doesn’t offer spellcheck, but now automatically blocks a post if it doesn’t recognise a word?? Well worked out, Lady Hawke. It makes sense….. The post I lost contained an excited response to LEW maybe visiting the UK again. One word, sounding very like squeal!
My son announced this afternoon that he needs an eraser, (I was going to use the word common in the UK, but didn’t want to reduce you all to fits of giggles,) a pencil sharpener and a protractor. It would have been nice to know about this sooner. They go back on Wednesday for heaven’s sake!
I am very tired today. I think it’s all in my mind, worrying about going back to work tomorrow.
Am going to copy this before I try to post………….
Just testing. LH is testing.
It allowed me to post LH.
Ooooh, it posted! I passed the Leaky test!
Do you think they fixed the problem?
I am going to try one of my questionable words next.

I thought that took way too long to decide to go.
Now, I’m trying to post my spidery and snakey words.
ASTI, is the common word for an eraser in the UK also the rude name for prophylactics?
Lady Hawke: I came across a book Little Hawke may like. “Artemis Fowl” by Eoin Colfer.
It is book one of a seven book series. I am enjoying reading it as a popcorn book type
distraction. It is free as a amazon kindle book. Fun little read so far.
And I forgot…. The Hunger Games is now out here. I’m going to buy it tomorrow, and we’ll watch it at the weekend. I am looking forward to finally seeing it, and contemplating a quick re-read of the book!
Ok…… Test……. Squeeeeeeeee
Yay, I can post squeeee again! How odd!
Ironsos, seriously? That is free on the kindle? Off to check it out……
And Lady Hawke, yes it is.
IRONSOS, I think my daughter intends to read those. I have a copy of the first one but she was initially turned off because the main character is something of a “baddy”. (Let’s see if that goes through.) Recently she found as the stories progress he redeems himself so I think she is planning on reading them.
Aaahhhhhhh….. Not free in the uk.
:(
Strange, my post to IRONSOS posted but the dusting message came up for me.
So, it is rejecting anything that may not be a legitimate word or anything it believes is not a legitimate word.
