Aloha! ;)
And hooray!! ;)
I need the distraction, I will be dealing with renewals from now until April! That’s renewal received from August 1 through March 31! With processing time, it means working on them until around mid April. 8.5 freaking months!
Waaaaaaay too long to be dealing with renewal for only about 450 companies! ;)
Whine over. ;)
Morning All
Looks like it is going to be another dreary day.
Hullo.
Lurking is such hard work…must stay here from now on. No word from Pottermore yet. This getting so old.
Back laterrrrrrrrr.
Lady Hawke Help for the door opening spell is at the new castle PM section.
I have mastered a spell but not yet made a successful potion. Some of the chapters are malfunctioning.
Thanks, GRAMAYNE
Lady Hawke Further description over at the new castle.
We have a blustery day here with intermittent sunshine. My DS has a small concert tonight and will be bringing a friend round afterwards. I will be doing housework that I didn’t do yesterday.
My DS has received his POTTERMORE EMAIL!!!!!
Now, he must wait until our daughter wakes up so she can hang over him while he goes through the program up to the Sorting like they both hung over me and like we hung over her.
Thanks again, GRAYMAYNE, I think I’ll try it on the desktop with a real mouse and not my mini with my finger and see if that helps.
GRAYMAYNE, men seem to have no idea that their “bringing someone by” casually creates a frenzy of activity, robbing their wives of a restful weekend.
Day 3 and I finally get the letter, & it takes me to a “Sorry but the site is undergoing repairs” notice! GEEZE! :+/
Lady Hawke I couldn’t imagine that you would stand a chance with just the finger control, this gaming stuff is an exact science.
BWJen Congratulations on the birth of your neice, and please convey my best wishes to your sister. My situation was the other way round, BigG was the first boy after my sister’s three girls, and we had no brother.
Won Ain’t life a bitch! There are errors, I bought the list of books for school and they are automatically stored in your trunk, but I was three books short and it hasn’t been corrected:(
GRRRRR!!!!
My daughter just woke up and we were headed to the computer to enter Pottermore and I saw WON’s announcement the website is down for repair.
POTTERMORE is back up!
Aloha! ;)
No Pottermore mail for me yet! ;)
Lady Hawke Go to Best Buy and hidden in their computer section are some really small optical computer mice. They are not expensive, They are designed for use with laptop computers and the cords (wireless are useless in this price range) stow around a spool thingy. They just plug into a USB port.
I use mine on the laptop and the netbook all the time (the touchpads hate me). If I have the computer actually in my lap, I can use the mouse on my ample thigh or the arm of the chair or a well balanced magazine.
The only problem I have with optical mice is that a flat, solid surface returns no signal and the cursor does not move. They do work very well on any surface with a design or that has a rich texture. That is why a magazine or catalog work very well as a mouse pad. Of course, you can use a “real” mousepad too. ;)
I know I paid well less than $20.00 for mine, possibly less than $10.00. – I just checked their website. They have a corded Dynex laptop mouse, in silver, for $7.99.
I am sure that Staples and Office Depot have them, too. So you can just go to whichever is closest to you. I don’t think I have seen them in Wal-Mart, but I could have just missed them.
Happy hunting! ;)
Sorry if I ruined the moment… I truly did not wish to…
POTTERMORE is back down again…
My DS managed to enter the site and clicked on Chapter One and the Privet Drive page was frozen up. He tried to go back in and the site was down again.
I have been incessantly refreshing so it was up for about 10 minutes from the time I saw it was up and he made it to the computer.
OK, I’m here too!
Jen, I posted on the old poll, but just to repeat myself, I’m so pleased for you all that you have a girl! Congratulations, and a big hug for your sister. xx
My big news…………son today was asked to be the Junior Captain of the golf club. I’s a huge honour, and says an awful lot about how he is perceived by the adult committee members. Proud Mummy Moment!!!
Asti: A hardy well done to your son.
Congratulations ASTI for your son’s achievement. It is wonderful that even as a teen he has kept level headed. You have a great deal to be proud of as a mother.
My DS has made it to Diagon Alley but the site is overloaded and keeps kicking him off. Then, he has to wait and wait to get back on.
Asti That is truly great news! Please give him our very best wishes, we are seriously impressed.
Thankyou, Ironsos and Lady Hawke! I am very proud, and feel very blessed by both my children. Though they have plenty of time to go all teenage and rebellious on me! My son is certainly a far nicer and more mature person than I was at 14.
Thankyou Graymayne and Mr Graymayne too!
Asti Congratulations to your son.
My son-in-law and grandson came over today. They finally went under the house to see if they could find out why my sink wouldn;t drain. They found a pipe cracked, dropped down, and plugged with dried draino. Lol They were able to get the plug out, cut out the cracked pc. and repair it. So now I have a working drain again. I guess it’s a good thing it was clogged because if it wasn;t, it would just dump out on the ground and I wouldn’t have know something was wrong. My garbage disposal was frozen up so I will get a new one and he will hook it up for me. I don;t really put garbage down it but I do use it for when I am rinsing my dishes off so I do need one. It is so nice to be able to rinse my hands off at the sink again without having to go to the bathroom. I rinse my hands a lot when I am cooking. Now the biggey that is left is getting the furnace serviced.
My daughter has gone to a bon fire and cook out tonight. I could have gone too but I am staying at home to watch the race. It is just a little too cool for me to be out in the night air. I guess that shows my age because a few years ago I would have been up to going to a bonfire.
The DS Sorted to Gryffindor. So, the only House we are missing here is a Ravenclaw.
Morning all! Thinking of you all on 9.11.
I logged on to Pottermore a moment ago but none of the destinations I clicked on were responding:(
I have put up some lunch photos at CC.
Aloha! ;)
Juust a bookmark type lurk! ;)
LH thanks for the heads up about the move to this poll! I missed that last night in all the excitement over Jen’s niece. I copied my last comment there:
Just a super quick run-through, I’ve been basically gone for two days straight, but CONGRATULATIONS, JEN & SISTER & NEW BABY!!! How exciting! And a girl, how fun. :) I love the name (which is also LC’s girlfriend’s name, just btw, LOL.) If he’d been a girl we were going to name him McKenna Colleen, but I’ve always liked Mikayla, too. I hope mother and daughter are both doing great and getting to know each other. :)
I had a friend over yesterday and today I had my GSRWA meeting up in Bellevue, to which the DS drove with me as we then went and ran around the mall and then met friends for dinner prior to going to another concert: the B-52’s and, surprisingly, The Human League. I had no idea they were opening for the B-52’s, so that was a great surprise, and the concert was terrific, MUCH better than Huey Lewis. Now I am crawling into bed, though, this has been SUCH a long day and I’m utterly exhausted. I’ll check back tomorrow, have a good night, everyone.
:)
Now I am back for the morning run-through, though not staying long. The DS is working the Puyallup Fair for USDA today, so the kids and I are home alone. I don’t want to laze the day away so I need to get busy. Well, I should rephrase that. I WANT to laze the day away, reading, emailing, playing online, etc., but there are things on the to-do list that can’t wait any more and laundry is reaching critical mass again. sigh
Congrats to Mr.Hawke for getting into OUR House. Eh-hemm. Trying hard not to start whining again… I hope he enjoys actually getting to see our Welcome Message and having the correct background color every time he logs in, while this Gryffindor spy has to contend with everything in Ravenclaw blue each time. :( Pouting
CoolG it is indeed a good thing the sink was clogged! I can imagine the alternative only too well.
Congrats to your son, Asti! That is quite an honor and a wonderful reflection on him AND his parents. :)
Won I hope you get on to Pottermore soon! And I’m keeping my fingers tightly crossed that you get Sorted into your proper House. I will see you in the common room, if so. :)
Off to try to be productive… for a little while, anyway.
I am frustrated with the way Pottermore works, more specifically the Beta process. Apparently they don’t really want to know what we see that needs to be improved. All they care about is that it is doing what they want it to do and as they wanted it to run.
At least everyone else should be in soon. They have announced there should be no more pauses. A consistent number of people will receive emails every day until everyone is in.
