Laura – good as long as it is sick and wrong I am happy. Would you believe I just had to have something to remember him with?

Welcome JRae lurking is quite socially acceptable here, but if you’re doing it from home you could hurk, if you are doing it from home while doing housework you can whurk, if you are at work you can wurk, if you are missing Josephine you can can flurk. Feel free to jump in on any topic you want or start your own. We talk about anything Harry, anything non-Harry; from the sirius to the silly.

Deanie hope that turned out to be a good call from your Dr’s office, those kind of things make me nervous

Felipe glad you are loving A & D, I did too.

I’ll be Flurking

Felipe, Can you print at work? I find that it is easier to catch up several pages by printing them out. I recycle the paper after I have read them. It can take 6 to 8 pieces of paper for each page of posts.

Our printing goes to storage in the printer until we go collect it, so no one knows what I print. With printouts, I can catch up at lunch and in odd moments between tasks. And I can keep Leaky minimized so no one really sees it enough to comment about it.

It’s just a suggestion. ;)

No lunch for me until after I see my doctor, so I think I need a piece of gum. ;)

The doctors office was just calling to confirm that I have an appointment. I called them last week to find out where the new office is. One would think that making that call would assure them that I intend to keep the appointment. ;)

I have to relieve the receptionist so she can go to lunch.

My co-worker says that she cannot do the phone duty because she has high blood pressure. She is not on meds for it and I am, but I am on meds and can do the job. Yes she does see her doctor & she has not even suggested a prescription for my co-worker.

In fact her daughter is an MD specializing as an OB/GYN and the daughter has never suggested that she seek treatment for hypertension.

It sounds bogus to me. ;)

Good Morning All

Just got caught up. I guess I should go see who’s still posting on the other poll. I think it’s ok because not many are posting now. No points. Lol

JRae Welcome You don’t have to change your name. We will just use something else to shorten Jeanie Rae’s name.

Sirius and Felipe Tom Hanks has been doing the circuit for the movie Angels and Demons. He’s been really funny. I would watch the movie just because it’s Tom Hanks staring and Ron Howard directing. Lol I haven’t read the book yet but now that the movie is coming out, I should be able to find it locally.

Josephine We still miss you and waiting for you to get back here.

I am back and the air conditioner guys are here. They have to order a part that may take a week to get here. The coil is leaking. Last summer something was leaking but whoever was here didn’t find what so they just refilled the Freon and left and it worked for the rest of the summer. I asked them to go ahead and give me more Freon now. Maybe it will last until they get back with the new coil.

As far as Ron and Hermione go I think JO must have been very forthcoming with the movie people. As early as the end of CoS, the movie, Hermione gives Harry a full hug in the Great Hall scene as the end and in a very embarrassed manner draws back from Ron. Then in PoA when they are started during Hagrid’s lesson they find themselves gripping hands and very quickly disengage in a very embarrassed manner. I think the movie people were told early on it would be Ron and Hermione and they dropped us hints from the beginning. I wasn’t reading the books then. As a purely movie watcher I had sensed that it was Ron and Hermione and by the time I started reading the books I did not see anything that made me want to change my mind.

Yes, the movies made it much more obvious than the books, but by the time they made the first movie, the books were hinting at that connection.

So the movie makers had more of a hit than that particular book actually showed. Especially since Chris Columbus was a fan of the books and had read them all, not just the one he was working on. ;)

Off to the doctor’s. ;)

Bbl. ;)

Lunch lurk! Hey everyone!

Yeah! I might try printing what I’ve been meaning to catch up, Deanie . I’m not sure if I’ll be able to, but I’ll try. Nice idea! :D

Sirius yay!

Cool G you should definitelly give it a try! I’m REALLY liking the book so far. It’s a total page turner!

Well, I gotta get back to work now. Hopefully I’ll be back this evening! Later!

CoolG Angles and Demons isn’t as great as The Devinci Code, But it was a good read. One has to suspend reality a lot and there is some techno-babble in there which is over my head. But it is Robert Langdon at his best.

Rhia I beg to disagree – Anglels and Demons was just as good as the Divinci Code, but that is just my opinion. Being a Catholic, no suspencion of belief was needed – for me that is. I know the Church has secrets and has a bloody history. Being as I believe in Re-incarnation, heck I may have seen some of it… or been part of it…

I heard that generally whichever you read first is better because Brown’s not too original with his twists and they become predictable.

Hey guys!

Wow new poll! Maybe some of the “dusting” we were getting was an attempt to change the poll. Leaky would crash, and they’d have to change it back.

I haven’t read Angel and Demons. Probably will read it but not watch the movie. I hated the movie version of The Da Vinci Code. Tom Hanks is all wrong for that role.

Sirius I didn’t say it was bad. I just didn’t think it was as good. It is the last couple of chapters which are over the top for me.

A&D came out first and didn’t sell well at all. In fact I bought the hard cover addition off the $5.99 table at B&N. I don’t think anyone would have read it except for DC being such a hit.

I love A&D for all the great Bernini references, and I do believe there are things in the Vatican that we all would be better off knowing.

Did you see his new book The Lost Symbol is being released 9-15? It is on Freemasonry. Ought to get loads of people riled up.

Hi korey. Is there a movie version of any book that was as good as the original? I can only think of one. I wouldn’t have thought of Tom Hanks for Robert Langdon, but I love him as an actor and I thought he was very believeable, although a little old for the role.

I read Angels and Demon second but I liked it just a bit better. I thought the premise was a bit more intense and the time constraints were tighter.

Rhiannon I belive Narnia makes a better movie than it does a book but that’s about it. I always so don’t judge a book by it’s movie. Some book-movies I don’t like. And some I hate. I think they should have picked a younger guy with a better voice for story-telling.

I agree that although Tom Hanks is one of my favorite actors, he is NOT Robert Langdon. He is just too much the “boy next door”. Isn’t Robert Langdon actually described as Harrison Ford? Tom Hanks is nowhere in the neighboring vicinity of Harrison Ford on the male spectrum. I love them both but they are nowhere near each other.

korey I haven’t seen Narnia. The book was surprisiningly ordinary so I didn’t even try the film.

Laura The only movie that I think surpasses the book is Prince of Tides. I detested the book, but the movie is beautiful. And OMG Cold Mountain!!! The only thing good about that movie was Renee Zellwegar killing that rooster. If the film is better than the book it can stay on the shelf.

LH Harrison Ford. No! gasp I love Harrison too. He might have been Langdon when we was doing the original Indianna Jones, but he is way too old now.

Good evening, everyone.

I enjoyed The DaVinci Code, and looked forward to reading Angels and Demons. But I have to admit, SPOILER ALERT………….. I thought the ending was totally ridiculous, and it made me so cross it spoilt the whole book. I’m really pleased others have enjoyed it, but I’m afraid I found it just too far fetched.

Lady Hawke, I hope the air conditioning manages to limp along until the parts arrive. You might be pleased to know my washing machine is still behaving itself, so you might avoid any more psychically linked laundry crisies for a while!

JRae, it’s nice to see a new friendly “face!”

Laura, I agree about The Last of the Mohicans. A spectacular film, (Daniel Day Lewis………..squeee…..swoon…….. sorry!) A totally unreadable book. I enjoyed reading Cold Mountain, though.

No Graymayne yet?

Waving hellooooo!!! to everyone

I agree Harrison Ford is too old now but I think Dan Brown actually described Langdon as Harrison Ford from the Raiders days. I may be totally off on that.

Apparently the title change came with the publishers anouncement of Sept. 15. The Solomon Key has been the name for years. I wonder why it was changed?

My DS is a Mason. It will be interesting to get his reaction. Of course, he won’t be able to tell me what is true and what isn’t. Secret societies, sigh…

I’m not crazy. Robert Langdon looked like “Harrison Ford in tweed.” So, we needed a young actor who is more in the Harrison Ford mode, someone smoother, maybe Daniel Craig, our current 007?

It is funny. I can see Ewan McGregor who is cast as the Camerlengo in Angels and Demons as Robert Langdon if he was 10 or 15 years older.

Speaking of books made into movies, I drove by the “real” setting of John Grisham’s A Time To Kill this morning. After my father had his blood drawn we went to breakfast at a Mexican restaurant and drove around the courthouse that figures in the plot line.

It was lots of fun living around here when Tom Cruise was in town shooting The Firm. John Grisham put us on the Hollywood map.
