I loved what Shire123 just told us. That is exactly what I need to know. I want to ride and see stuff….I don’t mind if the rides shake a little to give you a true to life image but please do not send me down high mountain drops…if a ride has that, I am not getting on.
Otherwise I would do OK with any other ride. So that’s exactly what I need…someone telling me if a ride has high drops. I can’t do those without loosing my lunch. :( But I just want TO GO….NOW!! :(:( :(
No high drops. If you watch the dragon chase scene in Goblets of Fire you will get an idea of the movement.
Well we got the car. It was a long and tiring Saturday and there are still a few loose ends to tie up, but it is ours (and the credit union’s). ;)I have the appointment to start the crowns tomorrow, and I will have to come in late on Wednesday so I can go get the title to the car we just traded in. ;)
The boss and the supervisor are out again today. They don’t know about any of this, yet. ;)
Off to check in elsewhere. ;)
Asti, sounds like it was a nice day for your husband and son, but I hope your daughter wasn’t disappointed about not spending as much time with her daddy for Father’s Day. Did you all do something together later in the day? Oh, and how’d they do in the competition? I had a very nice day – though my father had to work, he owns the place, so I was able to just hang out. My sister, nephew, and I ate with him, and I stayed for a couple of hours after they left.
Hi MM! It’s good to see you over here; I hope you’ll come back and post more often! :)
I’m not a fan of drops either. I don’t mind them on rollercosters so much, where you’re sort of going forward as you’re going down, but I hate the straight drops, like Disney’s Tower of Terror. Still, I’d endure it at least once to go on the Forbidden Journey ride if that’s what was on it. :)
Good Morning Everybody!!! A Happy Monday to ALL!!!! We have a high of 90 degrees here today, and I think the possibility of thunderstorms our way this evening, I hope everybody had a nice weekend. I have been busy planting in my yard again, and getting some extra exercise walking Stanley!!! I hope everybody is well and had a nice weekend!!
Hi Mistic! Sounds like you had a nice weekend. Hope you’re able to stay cool in all that heat! :)
I am at the time of day where the clock seems to just stop working. The past 20 minutes have gone by soooo slowly. 40 more to go!
I didn’t vote b/c you didn’t have “Stand in Hogwarts” as a choice. That’s all i want to do. The other stuff will be fun and all, but that will be a dream come true ;)
Good Morning Everybody!!! A Happy Tuesday to ALL!!!! We are having another 90 degrees day here in Southern Maryland, and in Washington DC. They have said that we will NOT HAVE RAIN UNTIL THURSDAY!!!! and then of course it will be ALL DAY LONG!!! I can take the heat, I just can’t take the humidity of it!!! lol
Bookworm Jen, I am not sure if we are talking about the same 9th and M Street, SE Washington DC is where the Washington Navy Yard is. Where you will be at is in NW Washington DC, when I pulled up the Map on Mapquest, it said that we will be about 15 minutes apart, problem is I do not know my way to drive around Washington DC much, I know how to get to the Pentagon, and the Tidal Basin, and the Monument, and that about sums it up. I am sure though that there is a metro bus that would go from the HOtel to the WNY, I would then have my car, and we could possibly go to Phillips Season with is located down 9th & M Street, SE Washington DC. Did you said that you would be going to the convention Center, I have never been there before, but If I could get there, there are lots of places to eat there also. Of course this is based on if we do this on a Monday during the week. If on a Saturday, we would have to have a landmark, and I could come up there and pick you up and we could still go to Phillips if you wanted too.
I AM WISHING EVERYBODY TO HAVE A SPECTACULAR DAY!!!
Dental appointment this afternoon. Whoop-de-doo! ;)
Bporing, routine stuff to do today. ;)
am sooooooooo looking forward to trying butterbeer…the way JK describes it just makes you feel all warm inside. I just think of warm gooey caramel….mmmmmm
Mistic, you’re right; I was looking at the wrong 9th St. But I just replied to your owl – I think we’ll be able to work things out fine! :)
My dad and I took my nephew fishing last night. He’s been begging to go for a while, ever since my dad mentioned it a few weeks ago. He got bored pretty quickly though. After about 5 minutes he wanted to know why he hadn’t caught a fish yet. And he didn’t like the idea of leaving the line in the water for a while; he just wanted to keep reeling it in and throwing it back out. Still, when we left after about an hour and a half without having caught anything, he did say he wanted to try again another day. :)
Now I’m back at work and will be lurking as usual.
I’m most exctied about seeing everything. The whole place will be amazing… and to feel like you are actually at Hogwarts/Hogsmead; indescribable!
Bookworm Jen It sounds like he would like fly fishing. Of course regular fishing where, unless you are planning a fish fry, it’s more about peace than sport may grow on him. ;)
I’m glad you are geting to do family things now. Soon enough you will be back at school and have very limited time for anything else. ;)
Deanie, we’re definitely not planning a fish fry – no one in my family is a big fish eater. Plus, we just go down to the boat ramp along the local river, so on the rare occasion that we actually catch anything, it’s very small; we throw everything back. I’ve never been fly fishing…I’ll have to ask my dad about it.
It is nice being able to participate in family activities again – I try to keep reminding myself of that as I sit here at work watching the clock! ;) Hopefully next semester will allow me a bit more leeway with my time since I’m only taking 2 classes.
CoolG had mentioned that she wasn’t able to post here, so I wanted to see if I’d have any trouble right now, since I normally haven’t.
I’m getting ready to head home. Talk to you tomorrow. Hope your dentist appointment went well, Deanie!
The dentist went pretty well, but the DMV to get the title to the carwe traded didn’t.
I was there before 7:30 this morning and the lein release letter was supposed to be faxed to them no later than Tuesday. Today is Wednesday, and it was not there. They did give me a confirmation number over the phone, so I am going to call them in a few minutes. ;)
Other than that I am doing pretty well. ;)
Deanie, good luck getting your letter! The RMV here is notorious for long waits. Everyone dreads having to go, and when you do, you just know it’s going to be a multi-hour ordeal. I hope that once your DMV has the info they need, picking up the title won’t take too long!
I’ve got to start packing for my D.C. trip tonight. I never pack early, but tomorrow I’m babysitting so my sister & BIL can go out for her birthday. I’ll probably still end up doing it early Friday morning. I did just see a story online a few days ago with a flight attendant showing how to pack enough for 10 days into a carry-on bag. She illustrated rolling each article of clothing into a cylinder shape, which she said reduced wrinkles and allows you to fit much more than regular folding. I think I may give it a try. I’m only going for 5 days, and I’m definitely bringing a piece that larger than a standard carry-on. But the more room I can leave in my luggage, the more free books I can bring home from the conference! :)
If you really want to save space for books to bring back, pack as you normally do to go. Get a couple of the “Space Bags” designed for travel to bring back your dirty clothes. Regular “Space Bags” require a vacuum cleaner with a hose to pull the extra air out.
You put the clothes in it and zip it closed then roll it up to expell the extra air through the one-way valve,. Then you can leave it rolled up or flatten it out and put it under or on top of your books.
Once you are home you just take it to the hamper, or washer, and open the seal and dump the clothes in. ;)
I do this if I’m planning to get souvenirs. It doesn’t matter if the dirty clothes get wrinkled and it usually allows ample room for the extras. ;)
Thanks, Deanie – I’ll look into those. I usually do bring a plastic bag or something to throw the dirty clothes in, but if there’s one that will take up even less room, I may try it. Right now I’m planning to take an extra carry-on just for books. I can take 2 carry-ons on the train, but the weight limit is 50 pounds, and I’m sure that can add up quickly with books.
I am enjoying my day off. I have to clean but meanwhile I am lazing about watching Soccer. LOL!!
Jen – I really can’t abandon our Leaky. I will always come back to the place that gave me such pleasure . :)
Hi MM! Even though there are so few people posting here, it still feels like home to me! :)
Good luck with your cleaning!
Deanie, I’m glad the first round of the dentist went ok!
Jen, will you be able to post from the conference? I am very envious of the free books! Do I remember you saying you got a free signed copy of Remarkable Creatures by Tracey Chevalier? I read it a few weeks ago. It’s ok, MUCH better than her last! have you had time to read it yet?
MM, woohooo! Go US and England! (Though curse upon you for topping the group!!)
