Just popped in for a minute. Hoping I can get back into a routine, where Leaky is a part of it :D
I hope so! I’ve really been enjoying spending more time over here. It’s sooo much easier for me, especially at work, because I can leave the window open and refresh whenever I want to. At the other site, I can’t leave it open because it tends to freeze up my other programs whenever I try to refresh.
I’m going to sign my child up for Pre-K and going to the store. Will check in when I get home.
For those of you, that don’t know, I’m going back to school. (I think, won’t believe it until it happens). I am supposed to be starting Aug 2. I’m excited to go back. Mostly because I get to do math. :D
Korey that’s wonderful!! What will you major in, or haven’t you decided yet? Or are you just taking a few classes for “personal enrichment”? ;)
We really need to get together again, but I know your life is busy and ours is hardly less so. ;)
A bit over 30 minutes and I’ll be heading to the dentist. ;)
Jen, how is your grandmother?? Please remember I am thinking about you, and hoping all goes very well. xx Please let us know.
Deanie, good luck with the dentist….. and the pizza.
Mistic, you sound so happy in your new home, and I’m so pleased! You had to wait so long to get there, you deserve to enjoy making it just how you want it. I hope all your plans go well.
Korey, I have seen your news elsewhere, but I don’t think I’ve said CONGRATULATIONS! Will you still work, or work part time? I’d love to hear about it. Now my little one is getting older, I’d love to do something like that.
Deanie I’m majoring in Business Administration with the intention of going into the accounting and financing side of the house. I love and am really good at math.
asti I’ll be working full time, and attending classes on line. I’m going to try for a full time schedule of classes. I’m hoping I can cope because I won’t be attending class in a classroom.
Thanks Asti! Thankfully, she is doing okay at the moment. She was in surgery for about 4 hrs, then in recovery for another 4. My dad spoke to my grandfather around 7:30 and she was finally back in a regular room, and able to suck on ice chips and talk a tiny bit. It was a very scary day, and even knowing how serious it was, I don’t think any of us realized quite how bad until the doctor described exactly what he found and had to do once in there…it was an extremely bad set of breaks, and he said it’s quite miraculous that she wasn’t paralyzed. We’re all feeling very grateful tonight!
Jen, I am so glad that she is doing so well. I do hope this will be her wake up call to be more careful and to slow down a bit. ;)
The dentist was pretty good. The crowns look natural. of course my “natural” is still not spectacular, but they are good. Now that I have brushed my teeth a couple of times and gotten the nasty taste of the glue out of my mouth, they feel good, too. ;)
Off to check in elsewhere. ;)
Thanks, Deanie – that’s what we’re all hoping too. I’m glad the dentist went well. How did the pizza party turn out? Were you able to eat before you had to leave for your appt?
I’m at work, though I’ll probably leave early to head to the hospital. Until then I’ll be lurking. :)
Yep! thy got here about 12:10. I did not leave for the dentist until 3:45. So I had time to eat, visit and brush my teeth before leaving.
We wound up getting the pizzas from Papa John’s. I had not had one of their pizzas before. The one I ate, the only one without mushrooms, was very good, but it had BBQ sauce instead of pizza sauce, so I don’t know if I would like any of their other varieties. Sauce can make or ruin a pizza. ;)
Today is sandwich day! The only things I know are here is the bread and a dip that I made from Rotel and Velveeta. Neither of which are good for the diet. I suppose that if all else fails, I could put the dip on a piece of bread and call it spicy cheese bread. ;)
Anyway, I’m off to bug them to start setting up, since my normal lunch time is 11:00. ;)
I like Papa John’s a lot. I find their sauce has an almost sweet taste to it. They do a lot of great deals around here, so we tend to order from them often for office events too. :) Sandwiches sound good too. Hmmm…now I’m getting hungry! ;)
I’m very excited because it was just announced that the HPA won the $250,000. I can’t wait to see how much more great work they’re going to be able to do with this money! :)
JEN, great to hear the good new about your grandmother,
KOREY, good to see you here.
It is amazing how well the HP Alliance did in the challenge to win the charity money. It really is a tribute to how well this crowd can organize themselves and disseminate information.
It really is amazing, LH. We also had a lot of support from influential people who aren’t exactly part of the fandom per se. Tom Felton (Draco) and Christ Rankin (Percy) both talked it up on their Twitters, and even Warner Bros. itself Tweeted the link through its HP page. And a lot of YA authors got on board – John Green and Maureen Johnson, of course, but also Libba Bray, Ally Carter, Jo Knowles, Scott Westerfeld, and even Neil Gaiman. It’s very cool to see so many people coming together for a common cause.
One kind of funny thing was that Hollywood News posted this little article about how nice it was that even the Twilight fandom was supporting this HP cause, despite the often existing rivalry between the two. What was funny, though, was that I don’t think they realized that the site they quoted from, Twilight Source, is actually run by several of the MuggleNet staff members, so there was already a built-in cross-fandom there. It was still nice though; there were several comments on the post from people who said they weren’t HP fans but would vote because it was still a great cause.
And the final little footnote to this is that the HPA staff is encouraging anyone who can to donate to the 2nd place group, an organization dedicated to suicide prevention. They did win $100,000 so they’re not going away empty-handed, but it was a close race, and their work is important as well. It all just makes me feel warm and fuzzy inside! I love being part of this fan community! :)
Good Morning Everybody!!!! A Happy Wednesday to ALL!!!! Hello Bookworm Jen, Korey1979, I am so happy for you!!!! and I am very glad to see your post!!!!! We are going to have a 90 degrees day here today, and we sure did get the thunderstorms last night, the lightening really scared poor Stanlely, he just shivered beside me, and we ended up loosing power sometime during the night also, when I sat up at 3am this morning, my alarm clock was flashing, and I had to get up go to my living room and check my battery operated clock there to reset my alarm clock!!! We really needed the rain though, and because I am right on the Chesapeake Bay, the lightening cracks much louder. I was in bed by 10pm, and I think Stanley was in a hurry to get there. I AM WISHING EVERYBODY TO HAVE A FANTASTIC DAY!!!!!
Give Stanley extra tummy rubs from me. Thunderstorms are such stressful things for so many pets. ;)
Nothing much going on here today. We are having salads, so of course I brought cookies. ;)
Hmmmm… The last three “Guess That Book” questions that I have answered were on GoF. Guess which book I am listening to during my commute. ;)
How do they know? ;)
This is shopping day with my parents.
DEANIE, I forgot to say…we did have to call the insurance company following the hail storm. We have noticed some discoloration on some of our ceilings, particularly in our daughter’s room. The insurance man won’t be here to do the evaluation tomorrow morning. We have a roofer coming to meet him and walk the roof with him.
Mistic, I think those thunderstorms are headed up my way; we’re under a flash flood watch for this afternoon.
Deanie, it sounds like you’ve had some pretty good lunches this week!
LH, I know you’ve talked before about your allergies, and if I remember, when you were tested, you came up allergic to pretty much everything, is that right? My sister just was just tested and pretty much everything they checked, she was allergic to. So she’s freaking out now, afraid they’re going to have to give away their two cats, buying all kinds of filters and detergents and sprays and talking about ripping up their carpeting, which was only put in a couple of years ago. I know some lifestyle changes may be necessary, but even if she makes her house perfectly “allergy-proof” (as if that’s possible), it’s not like she’s never going to leave there, so she’s going to need other ways to deal with it for when she’s out and about. Didn’t you go through a series of allergy shots as part of the treatment?
Gaaaaah!!! I cannot get into Yahoo now. My sign in expired and it won’t even go to the sign in page. It is not blocked by the Firewall of Doom. I just get the cannot find messge.
Is anyone else having trouble signing in to Yahoo? This started for me yesterday afternoon. I have not tried from any of my home computers. ;)
Deanie, I just went and tried and was able to get in. I also signed out to see if I’d be able to get back in and was able to. I don’t know if this will help, but this is the web address showing when I’m on the sign in page; maybe if you go there directly, it will let you in?
Thanks, Jen. I tried it and I still get the cannot display message. It is probably a problem with our server. ;)
Hello hello! I hope everyone is doing well.
My raft trip was totally awesome and I’m finding it REALLY hard to get back to my real job now. Working with kids 24 hours a day is exhausting, but rewarding. And getting to be outside all day, camp out, hike, raft an awesome river (and we had incredible raft guides, which made such a huge impact on the awesomeness of the trip!), while teaching my favorite things to kids just made it so much better! Sitting in front of my computer is such a let down now. o.O
