I am SO TIRED and covered in paint. I taped off the windows and front door and spent my day hand painting the front porch whilke my DS used the blower to to the larger open expanses of the house. He has painted about half the house from his shoulders down. We have covered the mortar with paint on the first pass. My DS plans to make a final pass with a roller when the first run is finished, ust to give the face of the bricks a second coat.

I could slap the people who painted this house. It was a pink brick house and those numbsculls painted it darked mud green. Why in the world did they do that? I have almost worn my right arm and elbow out scrubbing the paint into the mortar.

I spoke to my mother when I finally called myself through for the day. They kept my father up until almost 7 PM. I asked my mother if he was able to help much and she was so cautious in what she said I know he didn’t do much on his own behalf.

A doctor visited today. It must have been one of the hospitalists because my father’s doctor is out of town for the weekend. The doctor said he would be there several days getting the IV antiobiotics so I hope his participation improves by they finish the antiobiotics.

It is almost 8:30 PM here and my DS is still out spraying paint. I have not made dinner. I can barely move. My DS says he is going to take me to find food but if he doesn’t stop spraying soon and come in I am not going to be able to go. Right now I could eat cheese and crackers and call it dinner.

Morning all! I didn’t post yesterday but I did keep up with the chatter.

Lady Hawke I feel tired at the very thought of painting anything, lol. I exceeded my usual hard breathing exercise experience yesterday by going downstairs three times! Once to collect my bottle of milk from the front of the porch, once to top up my phone and buy a couple of bread rolls and my final trip was to collect the evening paper which has the TV programmes for the week and I treated myself to a chocolate-covered icecream. Can’t you tell that my DS is not at home?

Our weather has been very showery for several days so this is good news for the garden and farmer’s crops. My DS has seen a fair bit of rain in Wales, too, but he is among ukulele enthusiasts so he is happy.

Must finish my breakfast.

We are up, feeling hit by a truck. We did go to dinner last night but my daughter and I were really too tired to eat.

My mother has called. They had a bad night at the hospital. His blood pressure went very high, so high they called his doctor on vacation in Bermuda in the middle of the night, changing his medication twice during the night. Then, he started losing all the fluid they had been pumping into him and it was uncontrolable so the bed had to be changed multiple times. Someone moved his urinal when they were in the room and mother couldn’t find it in time.

Then, they moved him to another floor in the middle of the night. So, it was awful there. Mother had a short list of needs which I will acquire and deliver as we go to pick up more paint.

I am making chicken tikka masala before I go out to paint so I can have it in the refrigerator for our dinner when we come in exhausted tonight.

I have set the alarm on my phone to wake me up to purchase the park tickets at 11 PM Central time. I do not want to risk falling asleep and not getting them.

Lady Hawke Good heavens! Why does everything have to happen at once? Sending you more energy to get you through this.

My DS was back home earlier than he had anticipated so several “miracles” had not been accomplished, lol. Despite the weather everyone had enjoyed themselves, getting together and making music. He took two of his “novelty” ukes for inspection: these are unconventional in design, materials and construction but perfectly viable, good-toned instruments and people were intrigued and impressed.

This evening’s TV does not look promising, I think a DVD might be called for.

I hope the tix for the event at the WWoHP don’t run out soon! I’m planning to purchase my registration and tix tomorrow after I get paid.

I actually went to Universal yesterday and I can’t wait for LeakyCon! And I got my brother to FINALLY ride the Dragon Challenge rollercoasters and the Hulk! He already loved rollercoasters because he had gone on the Mummy ride at Universal and Space Mountain at Disney, but for some reason outdoor coasters with loops scared him. Well not anymore! Now he is addicted like his older brother :D

Also yesterday I did two new things at the WWoHP. I finally saw the Ollivander’s mini show and I tried the chocolate trifle at the Three Broomsticks. Loved both :)

LH sending lots of prayers and strength your way! Hoping your dad has a speedy recovery!

I have just come in from painting. I did get a message from LEMON while painting and went in, paint and all, and purchased our WWoHP tickets. I have my confirmations.

I am waiting for my DS to clean up enough to have dinner.

Again, I am SO TIRED.

We saw my father and mother before we started painting today. They have pulled my father off the IV antibiotics and have now put him on IV meds for the blood pressure situation. The emphasis of treatment has turned from pneumonia and urinary track infection to blood pressure. The top number went up to 220. I don’t know what the bottom number was. It goes up and down and all over the place. That was probably what was going on when he was going limp on us.

FELIPE, I’m glad you are registering. I would think the tickets will hold out until tomorrow. The price is prohibitive enough that a lot of people are probably having to scrape to come up with it at the exact moment the tickets are available.

Yay, Felipe! That is excellent news! I’m sure they will still be available tomorrow, but I’d do it ASAP after you get paid, just in case. It’s a very nice feeling to have it all settled. Now we just have to go through all this twice more, for the movie tix and for the keynotes. Then, DONE. I can’t wait for that!

Actually, I have one more little thing to handle still. I already purchased our regular park tickets, but I just got the two-day, two-park ones, figuring that would be all we’d be able to manage due to our schedule. But it occurred to me, at only $10 more per person, that getting the four-day, two-park pass was a much better deal. That way, if any family members are bored with LeakyCon programming (I can’t imagine, but you never know. LemonCharm, I’m looking at you!), they can go to the park for a bit on days other than our regularly planned ones, and if the movie premiere is not Tuesday night when we get in and we’re all feeling rambunctious after the flight, we can hook up with our Leaky peeps and go into the park that night, too. I just like the idea of having as many options as possible. Even if we don’t use all four days, for $50 total price difference it’s good to have that option.

I emailed Leaky about it already and the gal just got back to me saying she’d refund the originals, then I could buy the new ones. Since those won’t sell out there’s not as much urgency to get the new ones, though I do want it all handled again. But after the nightmare of refunds during the original registration thanks to Paypal, I will wait until the refund posts to my CC before I buy the replacements. Just in case…

LH continued prayers for your Dad. I’m so glad you got your tix!

LH once again, my best to your dad hoping for a most speedy recovery!

Lemon and LH, question… do you need to use the same card on the tickets for the WWoHP event that you used to purchase the registration? Like once you register your card is on file and everything goes under that card, or can you use a different card?

You can use a different card. You need to go to the bottom of the Registration page and change the card before you click on Buy.

I can’t wait either, Lemon!! OMG!!! I’m so excited!!! I’ll worry again a little later :-P

Jen, LH, LittleHawke and LP and I are also going to LitDay, but I can’t remember if Rhi is going to that one. It’s a lot to keep track of who is doing what! LOL It’s really getting so exciting now as everything starts to ramp up, I can hardly contain myself! Only 56 days to go!!!

The only thing we are attending at Lit Day is Levine’s Keynote.

Much to do today and I didn’t sleep well again. I think paint fumes are a problem for me.

FELIPE, meant to say WHOO HOO!

My DS does not feel well either. We have remembered the last time we painted was inside and when we used the primer coat we felt awful. Last night I woke up drenched as if I had sweated off a fever. The funny thing is we both started telling each other at the same time that our hands that are covered in paint feel particularly bad,

I can hear my daughter awake in her room coughing. She wasn’t painting but she was working in the garden.

Lady Hawke I’m very worried about your Dad. Too many things going wrong at the same time. I hope you have some good news this morning.

It has been cold and rainey here this weekend. We went to visit the Laura Ingalls Wilder Museum and family home Saturday. It is not too far from where Jen lives. It was very interesting. She had a wood cook stove that was very similar to my Grandmother’s. I think the only difference was the color. Her’s had green accents while my Grandmother’s had red accents. I got a post card with the picture of it. Other than that, I have just been taking it easy.

All your talk about getting ready for Leaky Con has made me excited for you.

I am going out looking for some close fitting gardening gloves so my hands won’t be so awkward. I hate surgical gloves as they make my hands sweat. I also need to pick up some more masks. My DS wants goggles too.

COOLG, I’ve always wanted to go to Laura Ingalls Wilder’s home. Did you take lots of photos?

Morning all!

The bridal shower yesterday went well, and despite my nervousness, it wasn’t so bad seeing my old high school friends. Definitely not as awkward as at the high school reunion 5 years ago, because the setting was more comfortable. And I wound up staying the full four hours, rather than using the open house format as an excuse to duck out early. They did ask me to come to the bachelorette party next month, and seeing my hesitation, they assured me that it’s a weekend event, with the Friday being just a lowkey dinner, if I want to come to that. I can skip the Saturday night of going out and partying. So, it should work out. :)

I was really tired when I got home from that though, so I decided to skip the HP-MA meet-up. I would’ve been late anyway, and it was raining, so the drive up wouldn’t have been much fun. I did go with my sisters to see my mom. It turned out that she had come down with my aunt and uncle; she is having her liver tested to see if she’s eligible to donate a portion to my aunt. It was the first time we’d seen my aunt since her scary hemmorhaging incident last fall, so it was a surprise to see her looking pretty well. But she’s still got a lot of problems, and if she can’t get the liver transplant, she’s only got 2 years max because the stents they put in are only good for that long. Once they fail, she’d hemmorhage again, and apparently there wouldn’t be anything they could do at that point. Unfortunately, her doctor in Maine either can’t or won’t do the transplant (I’m not sure of the reasons.) so they’ve been referred to a specialist in Boston. If she can get the transplant and build up her strength, then she could next get a knee replacement. That’s her other big issue right now, as she can’t get around at all, but can’t have the replacement done because of the condition of her liver. So, lots of obstacles to overcome, but still an amazing turnaround from what the prognosis was in Sept. I keep saying that if I hadn’t seen her for myself and heard what her doctors were saying when they’d come into the room when we went up there, I would have been sure my mother had been exaggerating (which she has been known to do!).

LH, I’m really sorry to hear you’re dad’s treatment hasn’t been as straightforward as it had seemed at first. But hopefully this blood pressure thing was the issue all along and now that they’ve identified it, he’ll be able to properly recover. I hope your family is doing better today with your own post-paint recoveries. Is it possible you’re allergic to the paint?

Yay, Felipe! I’m so glad you’re coming to LeakyCon! I snatched up my Open at the Close ticket within an hour of them going on sale to Rock Stars, LOL. But definitely thanks for thinking of me! :) And as Lemon said, I do have Lit Day and StarKid tickets as well.

CoolG, I’d love to go to Laura Ingalls Wilder’s house. I got really excited when you said it was close to where Jen lives, thinking, “Really? How did I not know that; I must go ASAP!” before realizing you must mean your daughter, LOL!

Morning, all! I’m up early due to a reflexology appointment for my feet. A good thing, since the son was late. AGAIN. LD has been taking him to school for me on her way to work since I stay up so late, which is really nice for me, but she is not so great at motivating him to be up and ready on time. He’s going to be grounded again this weekend because of it, he’s definitely old enough to be responsibly getting himself up on time. Today, though, he would have made her late to work since she had to be there early, definitely not okay, so I sent her on and took him myself. He was not happy, since I was clearly not happy with him. I hate having mornings like this where we part on angry terms, it always freaks me out and makes me upset all day long.

I was planning to go straight to my appointment but had to come back here to find our current vehicle registration, which I’d thought was in the car where it belongs…. but no, it wasn’t. So I’m just grabbing that and heading back out so we can get our new plates after my foot appointment. As long as it’s still available, the new one will be GRFFNDR. Appropriate, yes? LOL The version with the “Y” in it is already taken, but I’m pretty sure people can sound this one out adequately.

CoolG how fun! I’d love to go to her house. Those books were some of the first series books I read myself as a kid. I was never that big a fan of the TV show, but I loved the books. I’m glad you’re taking it easy and having a good time at your daughter’s.

LH I hope you feel a lot better! Paint fumes make me sick, too. Be careful.

Jen I’m so glad you enjoyed the shower! I hope you have fun at the bachelorette dinner, too. Sounds like fun! And WOW on your aunt. :( Poor thing, that’s a lot of obstacles. But she seems to have proven she’s pretty tough already, so hopefully she will keep fighting and get through this next big one so she can move on to the knee and any other issues she needs resolved. My dad needs a liver transplant, too, but they won’t even put him on the list at this point. His health is just not good enough, and I suspect they have put him in the “too old” category now. Which sucks, but he just keeps trucking along.

Okay, I better run, have a good Monday, everyone!

Cool day today. Temps in the 50’s.

New laptop arrived this morning but I need to do some shopping and stuff befor setting it up.

Have fun with the new laptop, Ironsos! I think computers are like hair cuts. I’ll be desperate to get it cut because it’s driving me absolutely crazy, finally make the appointment, and for the solid three days prior to that appointment, all of a sudden, my hair will look perfect with no extra work on my part. I think it knows. Just like computers. They just know… Scary, eh? LOL

I’m just back for a minute after my reflexology appointment. I can’t say yet whether it will have any real, lasting benefit or if it just felt heavenly during and for the short-term afterward, but I will say, if you haven’t indulged yourself in this way yet. get thee hither. OMG! Such bliss. I kept falling asleep on the poor girl, but it was totally fabulous. If I win the lottery someday, I am booking this weekly. :)

Lemon, what is reflexology exactly? Is it done through a doctor’s office, or is it more like a treatment that is done at a massage parlor or pedicure place?

Doctor Who fans may get a kick out of this new Threadless t-shirt design (with a slight HP connection thanks to the owls, LOL). I really love the David Tennant owl! :),girls/style,shirt
