New poll! I went for the “Hell ya” answer. Now my last post on the old poll with answers to everyone is pbvously lost. Well, nothing to do about it.
Alexi! Nice to see you! I hope you are well. You have been missed.
I am good, sick though yesterday and today, resting at home. All that OT caught up to me. I been worn out and tired and now sick. I have also been keeping a low profile, all the partying that was done recently had me laughing but on the sidelines. it was fun to watch.
Good morning!
Wow, I’ve never caught a poll this early. ;)
Hell ya! If it means they’ll be able to keep everything in the book, and help to keep the Potter fandom busy for a while longer, it sounds like a good idea to me!
I’m off for day 2 of my training class; hopefully it’ll be another smooth commute.
I’m another one for “Hell yeah”. My one concern as I read “Deathly Hallows” was how the film people would handle it, because so many questions were answered and every part seemed vital to the whole. There is certainly enough action to make into two films, both packed with excitement and tension as well as tears. I am concerned though about Daniel and Emma, they probably don’t want their commitment dragged out any longer than absolutely necessary. Emma wants to go to university, and Daniel wants to stretch his wings as an actor. If they could make the two films back-to-back then screen them in June and December of the same year that might work.
Oh, and I don’t have time to finish reading the previous poll’s comments right now, but here’s the link for anyone who needs it:

Alexi I am sorry to hear that you are sick, but I’ve been wondering how long you would be able to continue like that. You worked so much overtime and it’s really not healthy. You had me concerned. Will you have to continue that way? And won’t it be better if they employed more people to do all this work? I hope you will feel better soon.
The partying sure was fun, you should have joined in, lol. But I am sure watching was as much fun.
BWJen Have a nice day and a smooth commute. I am glad it went so well yesterday. How are the conversations with youe colleague going. I hope it’s not too annoying.
Graymayne you said this so well, exactly what I think, too. I guess they would have to do the filming in one go, like they did with LoTR and then split it up. It is one story after all. And we would have more to look forward to.
It could work. It could work. I think I would die from the suspense of the whole thing, but artistically….. it could work. Just re-read the book again, finishing last night. I don’t want them to leave anything out this time. Let it be 7 hours long! Let it be 20 hours long! Hours of glory! I wish I was Mr Kloves. He has such a great job. Except for the whole strike thing of course – but for a greater good!!
I have been MIA for a few days now so good morning all and how is everyone doing? I don’t think I ever caught a new poll this early either.
I said As long as they keep “Accio Hagrid!” I’m cool, because I am a bit of a smart aleck ;)
I am not sure what my feelings are on the subject truthfully. I don’t want to wait for a part two to come out, I am a bit impatient. At the same time I don’t want to see important items sacrificed for time restricitions, I mean this is it, the end, no more, it has to be the great emotional behemoth that it was intended to be. We should all be crying hysterically (I was when I read the book, especially when Harry said “I am about to die” to the snitch and well you know what happens next…bawled my head off, ok well I bawled my head off at several parts in the last book, but I digress). As long as it has the right impact we are all looking for, it doesn’t matter.
How are you Forgetmenot, Graymayne, BW Jen? Let me know what’s new around here…
Good Morning Everyone!! and Good Morning Leaky, I hope everyone has a wonderful day!!!!!!bbl
I’m still so undecided. If they do split it we could be waiting another 4 years for the series to end. I don’t mind as much if they release them within a couple of months of eachother but because of screening times etc i doubt WB would do that.
I’m all for a 3 hour (or longer!) film with an interval. It’s worked for POTC3 so I son’t see why it shouldn’t for HP.
I also dont see where they would split it without the fans being annoyed. Espescially non readers who probably wont understand.
A lot of people have said it will end with dobby’s death, but what is there to say they’re not going to cut him out? We haven’t seen him since CoS so it wont be as emotional for non readers. I’m just waiting to see if he does make an appearance in HBP, I cant wait to see the fight between dobby and Kreacher!! The way Neville found the room of requirement was awful.
and in addition, Spielburg: NOOOOOOOOOOOO!
I voted as long as they tie up the loose ends. I want to see Bill and FLeur’s wedding. I want Dobby, I want to see Percy come back to the family. I want to see Molly go after Bella. I want Remus and Tonks. I want Neville, Luna and Olivander. I want Dragons and an epilogue. I want it all if they are splitting it into two. Not demanding too much am I?
Oh I left out poor Kreacher too. I want him charging through. I want Snape throughout. I want Ron to be the Ron in the books.
Thinking back on the 5 films released so far, brings some thoughts about how much info, compared to the book, each one brought. But I had seen the first four movies before I took up the serious reading project. I started with the last one out in print, HBP. Then read backwards through the works, making the films come to life in an interesting way. The films dazzle and flesh out the characters in a different way, with gorgeous talents filling the rolls of the characters with convincing acting. Sets and special effects. But the details left out and are filled in when you sink into the word, a much more vivid picture emerges. Two different media approach to the same subject.
With Deathly Hollows, so much seems to be at stake by cutting, or condensing of information to achieve that 2 and a half hour time mark. I do not know what I would have gotten from OOTP if I had not read it first, the first of the series I had that advantage. As it was, I needed to see it twice, just like the others I had not read before.
DH takes us into Harry’s most trying time of all, since he has to battle guilt, feelings of painful loss in the deaths of mentors Dumbledore and Sirius, inadequacy to the task he is given, that hit him in every situation, almost every paragraph. The boy is tortured. It would take two films just to get straight the search for Horcruxes and the role of the Hallows and how they interweave. There is a lot of intense history here that should not be lightly dealt with…
My choice for director would be Cuaron, as I thought POA the best of all the films so far, but I love them all, for different reasons, I guess.
FreeElf: I agree, if they’re making 2 films every last detail should be kept, I don’t want to be ripped off. I went to see OotP 7 times at the cinema and I’ll do the same for HBP and DH when it comes out. I’ll end up spending a fair bit of money (for a 15 year old, a small fortune!) So it had better be good!
Preston: My vote is Cuaron, he would cope well with DH, Children of Men is fantastic. The only thing that annoyed me about PoA was all the blackouts. Although i haven’t seen any of Del Torro’s work so he might be better for the job.
FreeElf
Thanks for the heads up about the NEW POLL.
It took a couple of tries to get the HOME PAGE to come up with the new poll.
I said Hell Ya too as long as the films are not released too far apart, otherwise I would die from the excitement. I’d rather have two good, well thought out films than one rushed and dissapointing one.
Alexi glad your back, you must have heard me calling you, I was asking about you yesterday evening.
I said as long as they keeo “Accio Hagrid” because it was too good of an answer to not vote for. I would go for “Hell ya!”, though, and agree with FreeElf. I want everything. The last two movies have pissed me off to no end, especially OotP, which was a travesty.
Laura: OotP= train wreck. Although there were some bits of it that i liked. I loved the scene where they fly over London but i hated it at the same time, isn’t Harry soon to attend a hearing for breaking the international statue of secrecy? but oh well we’ll just let all the muggles see us and nearly crash into a boat :/. Still, there is no denying that it looked spectacular and gave me goosebumps.
I just hope they follow the book religiously for DH, it has the potential to be amazing. Just think about the battle of Hogwarts! But I bet they condense that down into 15 minutes!!
Zoeymush – Battle of Hogwarts will be less that 15 minutes, and they’ll cut The Prince’s Tale into two scenes – Snape, Lily, and Petunia as children, and Snape and DD arranging DD’s death. If they cut the “Pig for Slaughter” phrase, I wouldn’t be able to handle it. King’s Cross will the the screw up that the end of OotP in DD’s office was. And they’ve already screwed up any hope for Dobby’s and Kreature’s role in the movie.
FreeElf, and asti, did you both read my review of the sweeney todd? I just wondered if you had a chance to before the post changed.
Good Morning Everyone
I was saving getting on this morning as a treat. I completed several task on my to do list first. New Poll. Had to save old poll and catch up. New Poll means you have to watch what you say for a few days.
My thoughts on who is guardian angel. I thought it might be Alexi but she hadn’t been on for a while but was here this morning. There is always Cordelia who hasn’t been on for awhile. Without avatars, it was hard for me to keep up with which guardian angel or devil was posting. Lol
Deanie Glad your sister made it through operation. Here’s praying for a speedy recovery.
Ginny Nice that you are back to work and getting better.
Minerva We will miss you during the day now that you’re back to work.
Mistic Willow When I saw your new avatar of Luna, I thought it was Alexi at first but realized soon that it was a larger picture. Lol
Lady Hawk More electrical woes? What is the alignment of the stars and sun? Lol
Need to get back to work. Bbl
Hi Mistic Willow, I just found your review on the last post. I saw Sweeney Todd about a week and a half ago, and I agree with your comments. It was definitely more gory than I expected (and I’m not faint-hearted and watch lots of action movies) but I generally don’t enjoy slasher movies. I think I would have enjoyed it more on stage where there couldn’t be as much blood and gore portrayed. However, the acting was absolutely phenomenal. Depp and Bonham Carter were perfect together on screen and nailed their roles (surprise surprise). I’m a big Rickman fan and thought he did well in his role, but it was not particularly memorable to me; Depp and Bonham Carter were too spectacular in their performances. The music was excellent and often provided a slight balance to the blood with humor. It was hard to say that I “enjoyed” the movie given the ruthless, premeditated, and mostly cold-blooded violence, but it was a very well done movie given the acting, music, and general artistry.
My 2 cents.
Just popping in.
I voted “Interesting idea. I’m undecided.” simply because it would be almost too easy to totally botch it up or the perfect chance get it right.
As long as the DVD comes out with both in the same box, it might be okay. ;)
leaving work early today for doctor’s appointment, so I need to get back to work. ;)
Busy at work mark. But as long as they keep Accio Hagrid!! :)
NO!!!!! They managed to cram OOTP into one film…(badly, but oh well) I think it is just greed on Warner Bros. part
Wotcher Ya’ll
still catching up on the last poll – but I did choose Hell Ya for this poll – maybe this way they can get it right
on another note LemonFaerie I did happen to notice while printing out some pages of the old poll that even tho I was very magnanimous in supporting Green Bay & Brett in their game (even tho the Packers are on my Unforgivably Evil List) that you were rooting against my Cowboys, not just a little bit but with gussto and venom…...........so my hand is now forced to curse Brett once again – I hope Brett Farve has the worst game of his life against the Giants – that he does not get injured expect in his Pride and suffers through the worst outing as a Quarterback ever in the history of the NFL – I was going to root for him as the heavy sentimental favorite – but you forced me to do it, sorry, have a great time watching him lose. And I really wanted to be nice and wanted to be able to root for him aaginst the Pats, Le Sigh
Good evening!
Sirius that’s not nice at all!
Laura, I can’t wait to see Sweeney Todd. It doesn’t come out until the 25th over here. I love the musical and with all the acting talent it would be impossible for it to be anything short of amazing.
Fingers crossed I can get in as it’s an 18 and I’m only 15. I look a lot older than my age though and I’ve gotten into nightclubs before.
And sirius i think you’re talking about American Football :S however the reading vs tottenham “soccer” game is tonight. COME ON YOU SPURS!! :D
NOOOOOO! I want one gret 3 hour movie. Here is what I think is important to include and it could be done in 3 hours. Leaving Privit Drive Kreacher and Grimmuald Place-Leave the locket there and forget the assault on the Ministry. Godric’s Hollow Finding the Sword Gringott’s (We have to have the dragon) The Battle for Hogwarts (We’re blowing up the Great Hall)With much less detail, but certainly the Fiendfire, Shrieking Shack and Return to the Forest must be included.
You can’t have the wedding. Bill has never been a character, it could be Harry’s birthday. While Xenophilius is an interesting character, Hermione can deduce the DH on her own. And since they have already introduced Alberforth he could provide them with info. I think the whole, DD story line can be dispensed with except his defeat of Grindewald. It could be done in 3 hours. It really could, WB.
Looks like I am first. I said Hell ya of course.
