size=”3″ face=”Times”>So, I have been staring at a blank page
for about..

*checks watch*

*realizes her watch broke 2 months ago*

size=”3″ face=”Times”>..Oh..err..awhile, trying to think of
something interesting to say for my very first blog post!

size=”3″ face=”Times”>It certainly doesn’t help that there
are far too many distractions in the form of sewing, organizing my fabric
stash, Facebook, staring in the fridge, Facebook, MyLeaky, Facebook,
corn chips, MyLeaky¦

size=”3″ face=”Times”>I guess it’ll be best to start with
the basics.

size=”3″ face=”Times”>Hi! My name is Tammy aka mixymo, and
I’m one of the new TLC Crafty Witches.

size=”3″ face=”Times”>I’m ridiculously excited to be on board,
so look out for some AWESOME gallery keywording!

*ahem*

size=”3″ face=”Times”>Well..as awesome as gallery keywords
can be.

size=”3″ face=”Times”>I’ve been a fan of Harry Potter since
late 2000, but only part of the Potter fandom for about 4 years.

size=”3″ face=”Times”>Like many of us, I was (and still am,
of course) a HUGE fan of everything to do with Harry Potter, but I never
really fit in anywhere. Sure, my friends loved it as well, but I felt
like I had to hold back on my nerdiness around them for fear of scaring
them away.

size=”3″ face=”Times”>Then I discovered PotterCast and Harry
and the Potters, and consequently the barrage of wizard rock and podcasts
available to the needy, obsessed fan. This opened up more doors, but
unfortunately, being in Australia I had limited access to HP events.
That is to say, there were almost no events.

size=”3″ face=”Times”>All other avenues seemed to have fallen
a little short of what I needed, so of course I reverted back to crafts
and doing what I love best.

size=”3″ face=”Times”>I started off just making things for
myself ’ the staple Gryffindor scarf, and the “I Solemnly Swear
That I Am Up To No Good” tshirt, etc. This led to making presents
for friends, and participating in international HP craft swaps (sadly
not the HP Crafts Yahoo group, but Craftster, which is still just as
awesome!).

size=”3″ face=”Times”>There was nothing I loved more than being
part of a crafty group of people, and sharing their love for Harry Potter
through making and giving.

size=”3″ face=”Times”>I loved transcending national barriers
and making people realize that crafting was cool, not just for old grannies
sitting in their rocking chairs, sipping tea poured from their 70s crochet-bobble-cozied
teapot.

*hides own crochet-bobble-cozied teapot*

size=”3″ face=”Times”>So throughout the swaps many of us often
referred to the crafts section on The Leaky Cauldron. It was the best,
most comprehensive archive of HP themed arts and crafts a person could
ever dream of. Now, I’m not pimping out the TLC Crafty Witches here,
but we all knew that we could count on them to have an up to date catalouge
of pretty much every tutorial there was swimming around the internet.

size=”3″ face=”Times”>Now, I’m super excited to be part of
the team! I hope I can help these lovely ladies to continue to share
this Harry Potter crafting obsession.

Until next time folks!
