Harry Potter Series Best of the Year List RoundUp

As newspapers continue to take stock of this past decade, the books and films of the Harry Potter series make an appearance on a number of new end of the year lists.  First, the Globe and Mail names the seventh book, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, their Book of the Decade.  The Canadian newspaper writes that the book was not only "...the single most awaited, debated and anticipated...

Harry Potter Novels Make USA Today List of Top Books of the 2000s

Novels from the Harry Potter series by author J. K. Rowling have been included in six of the ten spots on USA Today's list of the Top Ten Books of the 2000s.  Miss Rowling's novels placed along side the popular Twilight series by Stephanie Meyer and the Dan Brown novel The Da Vinci Code on this list.  The paper notes:

The Telegraph has ranked Harry Potter author J. K. Rowling in the number one spot of their list compiling the top 100 bestselling authors of the decade.  With over twenty-nine million copies sold, Miss Rowling's novels beat out books by such other authors as Dan Brown, John Grisham, J. As we near the end of 2009, many publications and websites are releasing their "best of the decade" lists, many which include the Harry Potter novels by J.K. Rowling.

First Bookseller points out that our favorite author is the biggest selling author of the decade, saying "J K Rowling unsurprisingly holds the top spot with sales worth a spellbinding £215.9 million, according to Nielsen BookScan....

A young man in Florida is efforting to help the National Multiple Sclerosis Society and his local Sarasota Habitat for Humanity with a new auction of a special Harry Potter book. Author J.K. Rowling contributed a signed book plate for a special Deluxe edition of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows which also features a new sketch of Harry Potter by artist Mary Grandpre which you can see here....
