Rearranging or Shortening the Plot
• Quidditch: The game was never shown or mentioned in the film.
• Petunia's Howler: The howler that Petunia receives in the beginning of the book and her comment "They guard the wizard prison" are left out of the movie, and instead Petunia plays dumb.
Missing or Misplaced Characters
• Dursleys: The Dursley characters and the ton-tongue toffee scene were left out of the film.
• Rita Skeeter: She is left out of the films entirely.
• Marietta Edgecombe: Cho is left to take the blame for Umbridge finding out about the DA in the film. She is given veritaserum by Umbridge, forcing her to tell the truth. In the books, Marietta Edgecombe is the character that reveals willingly the existence of the DA to Umbridge.
