As a crafter, a lot of times I’ve been asked what inspires me to do what I do¦and it’s a hard question to answer. Why? Well, because it depends on just what the questioner wants to hear, really. Short answer, long answer, politically correct answer, or indulgent answer¦and the list goes on¦

I’ve had a bit of a brick wall in my way off and on for the last 8 months. Sometimes that wall goes down, and I plow right through stuff¦and other times, no matter how MUCH I want to work on stuff, Real Life and its cousin, Apathy put up a new wall, and I’m stuck trying to get around it.

Ahhhhh¦.metaphors.

Anyway, so what I wanted to get to¦.inspiration. I mean, hey, you guys like to read these posts, so I will babble on a bit¦ It’s funny this thing, inspiration.

I’ve been hit with a LOT of inspiration lately¦enough so that I wish I could do work like this all the time¦.and not have to worry about paying the bills. But when I read stories or other news outlets about what’s going on in Haiti¦.or I hear about an organization that needs something I can provide¦I feel the call, and find my inspiration.

You see, I’ve mentioned this to plenty of people, but I don’t always have the money to give to organizations as I would like. So, instead I find myself giving what I can in the form of OTHER things. I once heard somewhere that we should give of our time, talent and treasure. The treasures I have can’t be given, only shared (family, love, friends)¦but still, I will give of my time and my crafty talents to help where I can to those in need.

And that, my friends¦is inspiration. Every single one of us picked up a book about a boy who grew up with a closet for a bedroom¦.and we wanted to help him. We were inspired to find like-minded people to make this world better¦ And trust me¦when I see what Leaky did to Help Haiti Heal¦.THAT is inspiration. Knowing that something I make can go to help someone in need? THAT is inspiration.

I see you on your Blackberries and internets, looking up the term inspiration¦and finding it doesn’t quite gel with what I’m saying¦but I think you will find, helping others when you can? Inspires you to be better than you were yesterday¦and that¦right there¦.YOU are my inspiration.
