Bloggers - tlccraftywitches

face=”Times New Roman” size=”3″>So, about a million times I’ve
tried to start this blog post¦and about 999,999 times I’ve been
distracted by something else¦and of those 999,999 times, probably
750,000 has been due to something with crafting. And not always
a new project or continuing with a UFO. No, it’s just the way
my brain works. I don’t even have to START a craft to be thinking
on it, and the next thing I know, the cursor to this blog entry is blinking
at me¦.empty.

*stands up*

face=”Times New Roman” size=”3″>Hi, my name is Amber. (*waits
through the muttered “Hi, Amber.”*) And I have OCD”Obsessive Crafting
Disorder.

*sits down*

face=”Times New Roman” size=”3″>For me, it’s not just about
crocheting (my first craft love). It’s the CREATING. I
love to create things. Even more, I love to share my creations
with others. Whether I make a blanket, a scarf, a stenciled T-shirt,
or whatever new craft I’ve dived in to, I’m always thinking of the
next thing I can do with my new trick. (*grins*)

face=”Times New Roman” size=”3″>For the year of 2008, I set
not only a goal, but a challenge for myself. I kept track of all
my spending habits with JUST my first craft love. (*winces as
she remembers the total*) Lemme tell you, the total would have probably
been HIGHER, if I hadn’t been so conscientious about keeping track.
I never did add up what I spent on all my other crafting. That
would have given me heart failure.

face=”Times New Roman” size=”3″>However, I look back on what
I created during 2008, and everything I gave to people and unless I
have some REALLY GOOD liars in my life, I’d say I’m pleased with
the results¦and my little crafty heart does a happy little dance.

face=”Times New Roman” size=”3″>My mom would say that the effects
of OCD aren’t so happy for her. I think this is in part due
to some of my shopping habits. Like the times, when I come home
after having had a bad day¦and I dump 3 giant bags of impulse craft
supplies in the living room. Or when she finds a random bag of
supplies and says “Oh, when did you get this?” And I realize she’s
found a secret stash¦.and I have absolutely no clue why I bought what
she’s found¦only remember the buying and the hiding.

face=”Times New Roman” size=”3″>Or a personal favorite, I get
that middle of the night, PERFECT idea!!! I even make a list of
things that I don’t have that I will need. And then¦.like
the air out of a balloon, I have everything I need¦and I don’t remember
what I was going to do with them¦or I realize I’ve forgotten a key
ingredient or become aware that I can’t actually DO that craft (think
sewing, but no sewing machine kind of thing¦)

face=”Times New Roman” size=”3″>I can’t say I will ever change
my ways, bless my soul. It’s too much fun. And you know¦if
I have random pieces on hand now, you never know when that PERFECT idea
comes up, and I won’t have to run to the store for supplies and then
forget my idea before I get back home with my list and a shopping bag
to hide.
