First off I’ll introduce myself. I’m Sam, and I’m very friendly and approachable. So don’t be afraid to email! I’ve started this blog, because for a long time I’ve “used” the fandom. I listen to wizard rock, read fan fiction, look at fan art, listen to podcasts and more. I decided I should start to give back to this fandom that I’ve taken so much from, and when Leaky set up their new blog section I found the perfect outlet.

Now I’d like to welcome you all to my new blog “Because Dumbledore reads muggle newspapers”. The wise Albus Dumbledore is one of the few wizards who does read muggle newspapers, because it allows him to keep in touch with the muggle world and better understand the wizarding world. It is always important to look at different perspectives; it will help to fully understand a person’s own perspective. That is why this blog will be looking at muggle forms of entertainment through a wizarding world perspective. I’ll be comparing Harry Potter to different: movies, T.V. shows, books, songs etc.

Just a few guidelines about the blog. Firstly there will unfortunately need to be spoilers from the movie, T.V. show or book that is featured that week. If you are planning to watch, or read whatever I’m talking about that week wait until after you have finished the movie, T.V. show, or book before you read it. I will post a warning at the top of each entry just so everyone remembers. On the other hand if you see something you’ve never heard one week it doesn’t mean you can’t read the entry. I will give the readers all the information they need from the story to understand the Harry Potter comparison or connection. So don’t feel like you need to rent all these movies and borrow all these books from the library. I won’t give away every little detail though so if you read the blog and think you read something you might like, that’s great!

If you want me to read or watch something and feature it in a later blog entry just email me and I promise I will read and consider your email. Hope you all enjoy this blog, because I know I’m really looking forward to writing it!

Sam
