Alastor Moody

Now, you may be wondering why I chose "Alastor Moody" as my third blog. Well, technically I didn't choose. It was random. I opened my nearest HP book, closed my eyes, flipped the pages and pointed. Then I read until I got to a name. It sounds more convoluted than it was, but it only took a second. It'll probably be the way I choose all the rest of the names so if you want me to do one before any others just let me know in comments. Whenever I see the word "moody" I think of the astrological sign...

Neville Longbottom

Hmm... What can we get from the name "Neville Longbottom"? I thought there'd be more, but no. There's not much out there. The name "Neville" comes from a surname, and of course can be used as a forename. It means "New Town" in Norman French. "Longbottom" is from Middle English and can be broken down. Either "long valley" or "valley bottom". "New Town Long Valley", "New Town Valley Bottom" or "New Town Long Valley Bottom". Hmm...again. What kind of analysis can we get out of this? Harry Potter

Now, I have to begin with Harry Potter. It's his story. When I think of Harry the first thing that comes to mind is a boy that never wanted to be a hero. A boy that didn't want fame. He just wanted to be Harry. Even though he felt that way he never shied away from what he had to do. Does the name "Harry" actually go with this character? What's in a name? What's in this name? Hi, everyone! This is my first real blog. I have one on LJ but I rarely update it. I'm determined to keep this one current. I'll probably update this once or twice a week. As my bio states, I'm working on a book right now. I believe every name in it should have a meaning behind it.
