Trailer Thoughts

My last blog discussed what may be in the trailer, but now we know! If you have not yet seen the Half Blood Prince Teaser Trailer, just go (you’re wasting time!) My first thoughts: “Wow!” In short it did everything a teaser trailer is supposed to do. It made me want more. In more detail it gave me chills, it made me excited for the movie, and it amazed me with the great visual images.

What did I love? I love how it focused on the one story line of young Tom Riddle. Even though the tittle “Half-Blood Prince” refers to the Snape story line, book six is a setup for the path Harry must take to defeat Voldemort. The story presented in the trailer sets up for that. The looks that eleven year old gives to Dumbledore are fantastic. The smile that starts to cross Riddle’s face when he sees the burning wardrobe, and how he delivers the “I can talk to snakes” lines are both gripping and fantastic. The shot of young Riddle’s face changing to Voldemorts is something that gives me chills every time. I know that Dumbledore’s “no” is coming each time I watch it, but I still find myself holding my breath in eager anticipation of his answer. My favorite part of the trailer? Why Ginny of course! Even though it’s only for a second, as a Ginny fangirl, I love any glimpse of Ginny I can get.

What did I not like about this trailer? Well of course I wished it was longer, as in over an hour long, but of course that’s not possible. Do I wish that the Half-Blood Prince himself was in it? Yes, but as I previously mentioned I think the story they chose to use is an important one. It was odd to see a trailer that was so focused on things other than the trio. Ron only made a quick appearance, and Hermione didn’t even make the cut. Again this isn’t a disappointment, as the story they told was a great one, but a quick trio shot would have been nice. Other than that there wasn’t much room for disappointment. The trailer was packed full of great images.

So in summary, the trailer rocked my socks, the fact that WB released the trailer and then decided to push the release date back to NEXT JULY does not. :sigh: Perhaps I can spend the many months leading up to that looking over the Teaser Trailer Screencaps Pictures

Anyway, what were your thoughts on the trailer? What did you like or not like about it? Feel free to head on over to the Video Gallery forums and discuss it here
