The Wizarding World of Harry Potter meets me! Part1

June 20, 2011, 01:48 AM

I had been looking forward to my visit to the Wizarding World of Harry Potter for years. As soon as the first announcement was made, I started planning. I became increasingly excited every time a new tidbit about the theme park was released.    My family had already planned a trip to Orlando in late May of this year. The vaction plans had been set around other's work schedules and were firm. Imagine my excitement when I hear rumors of a soft opening!...

A Newbie's Half-Blood Prince Experience!

October 26, 2009, 02:25 PM

So, here is what happened on the night I went to see a Harry Potter movie on the big screen for the first time!         I didn’t get my robes made in time, but I didn’t really care at this point. I went to a theater that had 17 theaters all showing Harry Potter and the half-Blood Prince and all were sold out! The local Harry Potter group, of which I am a member, had a table set up to tell people about our group so I got there pretty early to help out with...

A Newbie's Half-Blood Prince Pre-Experience

August 09, 2009, 09:22 PM

I had planned to post this a few days before the movie opened, but I had some quite severe technical problems. But they're all sorted now. Just thought you'd like to know why this talks as if I hadn't seen the movie yet, 'cause when I wrote this, I hadn't! Hope you enjoy!     This will be my first time seeing a Harry Potter movie at the theater when it first opens. When I first got into the Potter world, it was right after "Order of the...

Like almost every other Harry Potter fan out there, I would give anything to be able to sit down with J.K. Rowling and just pick her brain and ask her a million questions. There are many things that happen in the series that I don’t fully understand why they happened. After finishing the series out, I realized most of them, but there are a few that I am left to think about.     We see many things that have to happen for a reason. Harry had to stay...

Being somewhat new to the fandom, I have never got to experience the hype surrounding all things Harry Potter… until now. I never got to go to a fun midnight release party for a book. I never got to wait outside a theater eagerly with fellow Potter fans for a movie. I never got so excited to see a trailer before or to wait for a book to come out in all my life!     I am sad that I did not get to join in those wonderful rites of passage that being a Harry...

Who is Family?

February 15, 2009, 01:05 AM

First of all I need to finally send out a huge thank you to Jason Breeden for creating my banner. He did a great job and I love it!     So, the day that all us singles dread is approaching. Yep, Valentine’s Day has returned. I have always enjoyed Valentine’s Day, in a relationship or not. I think they both have their perks, and I didn’t realize this until I stopped moping around on Valentine’s Day.     When I did that, I...

Christmas with Harry

December 29, 2008, 10:01 PM

This year, I spent Christmas with Harry. Last year was my first Christmas after reading Harry. But this year was different. This year, my Christmas was fully intertwined with Harry Potter. My family thought it pretty strange that over half my Christmas list contained Harry Potter books or items. (Only 1 member of my family reads Harry, which is my cousin, so they don’t really understand.)     Then I got Jingle Spells 2, and it was my official soundtrack...

I started it...again

November 30, 2008, 08:23 PM

So, I started it…again. I’ve fought against something I love, trying to keep it from becoming commonplace. Try as I might, it was the simplest of things that got me hooked again. You all know what I’m talking about. They sit there, day after day, beckoning for you to open them again. You try to stay away. Even though you know almost everything that happens and have parts of it memorized, you still find yourself surprised by things that you have forgotten, and you don’t want to lose that....

Happily Every After...Eventually

November 02, 2008, 08:44 PM

So, I’ve told you how I became a Harry Potter fan. Now I’ll tell you some of the reasons why I fell in love with Harry. I’ve always been a fan of fantasy as apposed to real-life stories. I’ve been stuck in that fantasy land that was real to me as a child, and refuse to come out of it. I have a friend who likes non-fantasy novels and true stories, but isn’t into fantasy. When I asked her why she didn’t like any fantasy she said, “So many interesting things happen in real life, why...

Becoming a Harry Potter fan

September 11, 2008, 01:30 AM

Wow! My first ever blog! I cannot tell you how excited I am about this. This blog will be about being new to Harry Potter and the experiences that come with that. I am just past the one year mark of when I first picked up “Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone.” I would like to start this by telling you how I came to be introduced and obsessed with Harry Potter. I have always worked around children, and my cousin was about 11 when the first book came out, so I was exposed to Harry Potter...
