Ralph Fiennes (pronounced "Rafe Fines"), an acclaimed performer on both stage and screen, is perhaps best-known for his portrayals of intense and conflicted characters in such films as Schindler's List, The English Patient, and The End of the Affair. His ability to portray evil men without resorting to caricature made him (Director) Mike Newell's first choice for the pivotal role of Lord Voldemort in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. Ralph memorably reprized the role for Order of the Phoenix.He received his training at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in London. In 1992, he was cast as Heathcliff in Emily Brontë's Wuthering Heights. Stephen Spielberg saw the film and cast Mr. Fiennes is his breakthrough role, the murderous Nazi Commandant Amon Goeth in Schindler's List. Since then, Mr. Fiennes' film roles have ranged from drama to thriller to romantic comedy, and even to animated family films such as Wallace and Gromit with fellow Potter co-star Helena Bonham Carter. In 2008, Ralph Fiennes was seen in the hit film "In Bruges," which co-stars fellow Potter actors Brendan Gleeson and Clemence Poesy. While not yet confirmed, Ralph Fiennes has stated he wishes to finish out the film series in his role as Voldemort for the two Deathly Hallows films.
