Julie Walters is consistently voted the UK's most popular female light entertainer and comedienne. She has been involved in many of the most important theatrical progressions of the last 25 years, as well as being a best-selling author and an award-winning screen actress. She portrayed Molly Weasley in the first five Harry Potter films and will reprise her role in the sixth which is currently in production in England. She also co-starred with her Harry Potter "son" Rupert Grint (Ron Weasley) in the film Driving Lessons. She studied English and Drama at Manchester Polytechnic, she joined the legendary Everyman Theatre in Liverpool in the early 1970s. Television work, notably a string of comedies, followed soon thereafter. In 1983 she burst onto the big screen, reprising her triumphant stage role as the working-class wife who hopes to better herself through university study in Educating Rita, for which she received a BAFTA and an Academy Award nomination. In 2001, Ms. Walters won a Lawrence Olivier Award for her performance in Arthur Miller's All My Sons. In 1999 she was appointed an OBE (Officer of the Order of the British Empire) for services to theater.
